Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Sunday (Mar 8) said that his country “will be forced to respond” if a neighbouring nation attacks or attempts to invade Iran. In a statement aired on the state TV, Pezeshkian added that the Iranian regime does not have a dispute with its neighbours, nor does it wish harm to its people, but would respond out of necessity. If Iran's enemies “try to use any country to attack or invade our land, we will be forced to respond to that attack. Iran’s strikes across the Gulf have brought renewed attention to the defence relationship between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The long-standing security partnership between the two countries includes military cooperation, training and strategic coordination, which analysts say could become more relevant as regional tensions escalate.

The spotlight on the Saudi-Pakistan defence pact comes as Iran targets locations across the Gulf during the widening confrontation in the Middle East. The developments have raised questions about how regional alliances may respond if the conflict expands further.

Observers say the evolving situation could test existing defence partnerships across the Gulf and South Asia as countries monitor the impact of the escalating crisis.

U.S. President Donald Trump has accused Iran of bombing a school in the southern city of Minab, an attack he says killed at least 165 people. Trump claimed Tehran was responsible for the strike and rejected allegations that the United States was involved.

The incident refers to the Shajareh Tayyebeh girls’ elementary school in Minab, which was destroyed during the early stages of the Iran war, with Iranian authorities reporting that more than 160 people, mostly schoolchildren, were killed.

Trump also said there is no indication that Russia is assisting Iran in the conflict. The U.S. president added that Washington wants a future Iranian leader who will not lead the country into war.

The remarks come as the war between the United States, Israel and Iran continues to escalate across the region.

Reports say Russia may be providing intelligence to Iran about the locations of US military assets in the Middle East. According to officials cited in media reports, Moscow has shared information on the positions of American warships, aircraft and other military infrastructure.

The intelligence sharing is believed to help Iran track and potentially target US forces across the region amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel.

Officials cited in the reports say the information may include location data and surveillance intelligence that could improve Iran’s targeting capability. However, it is not clear how directly the intelligence has been used in attacks.

Russia has previously condemned US and Israeli strikes on Iran, while the reported intelligence cooperation highlights growing military coordination between Moscow and Tehran during the escalating crisis.
