Data from major internet infrastructure companies suggests that after the blockade was imposed on January 8, a 98.5 per cent crash in traffic was recorded within 30 minutes, as reported by Cloudflare. According to the Internet Society, a nonprofit that pushes for an open internet, since 2018, Iran has blocked internet access 17 times. Rashidi wrote on LinkedIn, "The level of violence by the government is unlike anything I have ever witnessed. The Islamic Republic is killing to survive.” Jamming Starlink satellite internet proved to be an impossible task for Russia in Ukraine, the Rest of World reported. To support Ukraine in its war, Musk sent terminals to let people access the internet and remain connected. Military officials also used Starlink internet to keep communication open with the world. But Moscow tried blocking it and failed as SpaceX quickly pushed software updates, which thwarted all attacks on its satellites. The outlet managed to get in touch with a young Iranian woman based in Tehran, who told them that she is constantly hearing news of deaths, and recently learned of a close friend’s cousin. She said his wife saw a green light, likely from a gun laser. To protect her, the man stood in front of her and was shot in the face and was killed. His family was asked to pay 500 million Tomans in return for his body, and even then, the official cause of death was mentioned as “impact of a sharp object to the face”, instead of saying that he was shot. Despite the brutalities, the woman told The Post that this time it seems like the current regime will be overthrown. She recalled that last Thursday and Friday, the crowds were so huge in Tehran that even the police and the Guard were shocked by the numbers. The police are bombarding the people with tear gas, pepper spray and sound bombs to scare them, yet she says, more Iranians are turning up with their children. The eyewitness added that she saw a pregnant woman in the middle of the protestors. She says that it is not only the young who are protesting, but even older people who have been suffering for decades, are standing with them. On Saturday, anti-terrorist police forces were brought in to suppress the protests, the woman said, adding that innocent people walking and chanting are being shot. The families of the people killed must pay the “bullet fees” to the government to receive their bodies, she said, calling it the "ultimate cruelty". Increased security measures, road closures, public transportation disruptions, and internet blockages are ongoing," the advisory alerted, adding that Iran's Government has "restricted access to mobile, landline, and national internet networks."&nbsp;The advisory also highlighted travel disruptions after noting that several airlines have limited or cancelled flights to and from Iran. "Airlines continue to limit or cancel flights to and from Iran, with several suspending service until Friday, January 16," it said.<h3>The US embassy advises leaving Iran by land to Armenia and Turkey</h3>Requesting its citizens to take immediate precautions, the US embassy advised its people to consider leaving Iran by land to Armenia and Turkey. "U.S. citizens should expect continued internet outages, plan alternative means of communication, and, if safe to do so, consider departing Iran by land to Armenia or Turkiye," the advisory added.&nbsp;"Leave Iran now. Have a plan for departing Iran that does not rely on U.S. government help," it said. "If you cannot leave, find a secure location within your residence or another safe building. Have a supply of food, water, medications, and other essential items," it added.&nbsp;"Avoid demonstrations, keep a low profile, and stay aware of your surroundings," the embassy said.
