<p>“This has been going on since Under-14 cricket. Whenever I have played with his bat, I’ve done well. I want to tell everyone that even today (on Sunday), I played with his bat, which wasn’t an easy task. It’s my last option for a comeback. Special thanks to him for lending me his bat on time,” Abhishek said in a video shared by BCCI.</p>

<p>“It had happened in the IPL as well. Today was no exception as it went well as it usually happens,” Abhishek added.</p>

<h2>Yuvraj lauds Abhishek</h2>

<p>A four-ball duck in the first T20I might be disappointing for Abhishek, but not for his mentor and one of India’s greatest match-winners, Yuvraj Singh. Abhishek said after the first match, he spoke with Yuvraj on the phone, and instead of the India veteran scolding him for playing a careless shot, he lauded his beginning, saying it was a good start to his career.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, Abhishek credited Yuvraj for putting in the hard work and guiding him to the right path, which led to his India call-up.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Very proud. Well done. You deserve it. Many more to come. This is just a start,” Yuvraj said to Abhishek as revealed by him.</p>

<p>“I spoke to him yesterday, and he said, I don’t know why, but he was very happy when I was out on zero. He said that’s a good start. I think he must be very proud of me just like my family.</p>

<p>“I am playing at this level because of him. The hard work he has put on me. For the past two-three years he has really worked hard not only on my cricket but even off the field as well,” the 22-year-old added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Barclay is eligible for another term and would be interested in continuing in the job, but if Shah decides to contest the elections, he is sure of getting elected unopposed. If that happens, Shah will become the youngest ICC chairman.</p>

<p>BCCI secretary Jay Shah released a video, thanking the Indian Team for their best efforts and for winning the 2024 T20 World Cup title in the Americas. Shah also put aside all the rumours of a change in captaincy following the appointment of a new head coach by confirming that longer-format skipper Rohit Sharma will continue to lead India in ODIs and Tests.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Shah added that Team India’s next target is winning the World Test Championship Final and the Champions Trophy, both scheduled for next year, under Rohit's leadership.</p>

Jay Shah confirms Rohit Sharma’s future as ODI, Test captain as 2025 WTC, Champions Trophy loom

<p>Team India’s stand-in captain for the Zimbabwe T20Is, Shubman Gill, said no cricket for the players in the lead-up to this series resulted in a shocking loss in the first game as the hosts beat India by 13 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. Gill laments rustiness as the reason for the loss as Team India prepares for the next game on Sunday (Jul&nbsp;7) at the same venue.</p>

<p>With no big names around and young guns completing the Playing XI, Gill’s captaincy debut failed to leave a mark. A lesser-experienced Indian Team fell shy of the target in a low-scoring thriller despite the skipper topping the runs chart (31).</p>

It's going to be big for the cricketers, the nation and the cricket board. We have to do well in the tournament. And to be with the other sportspersons, to learn from them, is a great thing. <p>"I am confident that the BCCI and the players and the coaches at that time will be prepared. I am confident that from this team, a lot of people will be part of the team. After four years, in 2019, Shah was elected as the board’s secretary, taking the onus of Indian cricket into his hands and delivering since. Shah is also the Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) President, responsible for the cricket operations in the Southeast Asian region.</p>

<p>Speaking to India Today, Gavaskar said he has always appreciated Shah’s work as an administrator as it helped promote cricket, not just Indian cricket, over the years. <h2>‘Not a result-oriented coach’</h2>

<p>Even as a player, Dravid wasn’t always the most result-oriented cricketer despite this game thriving on results in India. Talking on the same lines, Dravid explained his main goal was always to allow the captain to take his vision forward and ensure the team makes the most out of it.</p>

<p>“As a coach, at the end of the day, my job is to help the captain deliver his vision, his philosophy of how he wants the team to play,” Dravid said. “I don’t really like talking more about results. Yes, results are important. I am in a business that runs on results.</p>

<p>“I think results are the factor of many things. When you are constantly rotating players and the kind of number of players you will have to play in spite of that the kind of results we got in these past months have given me more satisfaction,” he continued.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Shortly after PM Modi met the T20 WC-winning squad, the Indian Team departed for the airport to fly to Mumbai for the open bus victory parade scheduled for Monday evening from Marine Drive. The BCCI will felicitate the Indian Team at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai before the team gets onto the open bus for the parade.</p>

<p>The Player of the Match in the final, Virat Kohli, missed out on the cut, but six other Indian players made it to the ICC’s team of the tournament for the recently-concluded 2024 T20 World Cup in the Americas. Besides the Indians, the XI includes three players from Afghanistan and one each from the co-hosts West Indies and Australia, with South African seamer Anrich Nortje being named the 12th man.</p>

<p>"Beryl, the first hurricane of the 2024 Atlantic season, intensified into a 'very dangerous' Category 3 storm on Sunday morning as it churned toward Barbados and the Windward Islands, promising destructive hurricane-force winds and life-threatening storm surge, according to the National Hurricane Center," CNN reported earlier.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After their second T20 World Cup triumph on Saturday (June 29) against the Proteas, the Indian Team and the staff planned to depart straight home via a charter (from the USA). But because of the hurricane warning on Sunday evening, due to which the airport got shut down, they were left stranded in their hotel.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The South African Team left Barbados earlier on Sunday.</p>

<p>The BCCI secretary, Jay Shah, also stranded in Barbados, commented on the matter, saying once the team gets travel clearance, they will fly home, where the BCCI will felicitate the winning unit.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Like you, we are also stuck here. After the travel plans are clear, we will think about the felicitation," Shah told reporters in Barbados.</p>

<h2>Team India’s plan upon landing in India</h2>

<p>Per the itinerary, the Indian Team will fly to New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The PM also called up the Indian squad after their T20 WC triumph, speaking with Captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and outgoing Coach Rahul Dravid.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On this occasion, Shah addressed the team’s success, saying this winning team embodies a vibrant and resilient India. He also credited BCCI’s role in identifying and nurturing the right talent at the right time, leading to the team taking home the honours.</p>

<p>“This team truly embodies a rising, vibrant, and resilient India, asserting its rightful place in the world of cricket. I am delighted that, as the governing body of the sport in India, the BCCI has played a part in this team's success through our relentless focus on identifying, grooming, and nurturing the right talent,” Shah said in Barbados, as quoted by Cricbuzz.</p>

That, however, reminded everyone of WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, who used to walk similarly during his in-ring matches. A day after the video went viral, Flair reacted to it on his social media handle.</p>

<p>Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has also announced retirement from T20 Internationals after the Men-in-Blue lifted a historic second T20 World Cup trophy, beating South Africa in the final on Saturday (Jun 29).</p>

<p>Jadeja, who played all matches in the tournament, including the all-important summit clash, took to his social media handles to convey the news of his retirement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"With a heart full of gratitude, I bid farewell to T20 internationals. Like a steadfast horse galloping with pride, I’ve always given my best for my country and will continue to do so in other formats," wrote Jadeja.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“It means a lot. Very emotional, we'd been working very hard, and something was not clicking. But today we got what the whole nation wanted. More special for me; for how my last six months were, I haven't spoken a word, things have been unfair," Pandya said in a chat with Star Sports.</p>

<p>“I knew that if I kept working hard, I could shine and do what I could do. Getting an opportunity like this makes it more special. We always believed it was just about executing our plans and staying calm and letting the pressure come to them," Pandya said in a post-match presentation.</p>

<p>"I believe in grace. A lot was said by people who don't know even know me one per cent as a person. People have spoken, no issues, but I have always believed in life that you never respond with words, circumstances can respond,” Pandya responded.&nbsp;</p>
