<p>However, PCB chief Zaka Ashraf has made heads turn with a controversial statement. While interacting with the press, he spoke at length about PCB's recently-shared central contracts for Team Pakistan and ended up labelling India as an 'enemy country'.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a video shared on X, Ashraf explained&nbsp;the reason for the landmark hike for players in the central contracts and stated,&nbsp;"You should keep in mind that when the players go to an enemy country or where the competition is being held, you should support them so that they can perform well."</p>

<p>The video has gone viral in no time with many schooling the PCB chief for his choice of words.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"If adverse weather suspends play during the Pak vs India game, the match will continue on 11th September 2023 from the point it was suspended," the ACC had said in a statement.</p>

<p>The decision, however, has not gone down well with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh head coach. "Little surprised when I first heard, but at the same time we are not the organisers of the competition so not a lot we can do about that," said Sri Lanka coach Chris Silverwood.</p>

<p>The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is reportedly planning to stick to the original schedule&nbsp;as they prepare for the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2023. The ACC, initially thought to be considering Hambantota as an alternative for Colombo, are now reportedly keen on the original venue. It was predicted that, due to consistent rain in the national capital of Sri Lanka, the matches could get washed out and to avoid the scenario, the ACC was considering shifting the venues.</p>

<h2><strong>ACC to stick to the original plan?</strong></h2>

<p>According to Cricbuzz, ACC will stick to the original plan as the organisers try to avoid any reshuffle in the Colombo leg of the championship. The weather forecast in the region has improved in the last few hours and the anticipation of a match washout could be avoided. The tournament already has faced a washout with India’s contest against Pakistan called off on Saturday with a share of points.</p>

<p>On the other hand, the organisers want a fully-fledged game and are exploring all possible options. ACC initially planned to switch the venues as per a report on Monday, September 4. Rain was also a feature in India’s contest against Nepal on Monday when the match was trimmed.</p>

<p>A Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) official, however, while speaking to ESPNCricinfo on Monday, September 4 said that logistics is the only issue in shifting games from Colombo to Hambantota. The venue, which receives the least rainfall in September in the island nation, has already been signed off as the venue, ESPNCricinfo reported further, citing PCB sources.</p>

The reason given by the SLC officials to select Hambantota is the lack of floodlights in Dambulla.</p>

<p>The Super Four games are scheduled in Colombo on September 9, 10, 12, 14, and 15, with the final set to be played on September 17. There are six Super Four games to be played and one of them is to be played in Lahore on September 6 - the last match scheduled in Pakistan.</p>

Pandya, vice-captain of India, and Kishan added 138 runs for the fifth wicket to rescue India from a precarious position.</p>

<p>Kishan, who already has a double-century to his name in ODIs, scored 82 and Pandya scored 87 as the duo took India to 204 in 37.3 after losing four wickets for 66. Kishan most probably got his chance in the playing XI as KL Rahul was not available for the first two matches of India's Asia Cup campaign. <p>It is to be noted that&nbsp;Pakistan remain the original hosts despite nine out of 13 games being held in Sri Lanka. The 2023 edition is being held in a hybrid model -- for the first time in Asia Cup's history -- after India made it clear that they won't travel to Pakistan due to strained relations. Last year's edition was held in the UAE but Sri Lanka remained the original hosts and their name was mentioned in team jerseys (below the Asia Cup's logo). However, eyebrows have been raised with the same trend not being followed this year.</p>

<h2><strong>Former Pak cricketers slam ACC, PCB</strong></h2>

<p>Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif said, as quoted by Hindustan Times, "This is unacceptable and it is the Asian Cricket Council which must explain this oversight since the Asia Cup is their property."</p>

<p>Moreover, Mohsin Khan -- Pakistan's former batter -- also slammed ACC and stated, "Makes no sense at all. Then why has the ACC given the host country’s name on the logos for their Asian Emerging Nations Cup or their Asian under-16 event held in July in Malaysia."</p>

<p>The third game of the Asia Cup will take place on Saturday (September 02) in Kandy with India facing arch-rivals Pakistan. Rohit Sharma &amp; Co. will open their campaign and hope for a win over the No. 1 ranked ODI side.</p>

<p>Watched by over a billion people, the cricket match had every bit of drama that one would expect from arch-rivals India and Pakistan.</p>

<p>Not only it was memorable for its thrilling end, but Virat Kohli’s heroics in lifting India’s chances from a near defeat was further icing on the cake.</p>

<p>They had posted a score and I thought that we could have restricted them to 140-odd runs because the ball was moving a lot early on.</p>

<p>But still I thought that given our batting strength, we will be able to chase down the score very easily.</p>

<p><strong>On facing Pakistan’s bowlers</strong></p>

<p>And just when we survived the first over of Shaheen Shah Afridi without giving up any wickets, we felt a bit relaxed.</p>

<p>But soon, we saw a fiery spell from Haris Rauf. It made me think that Pakistan has a great lineup of players.</p>

<p>In the past four years that we have played against them, they have gone from strength to strength.</p>

<p>They have been playing some really good cricket. And for that type of epic game of cricket to happen, you need your opposition to bring their A-game. For a fantastic game, their role is equally important.</p>

<p>There were many thoughts running on my mind.&nbsp;From 45/4, I thought that the only way to win the game was if Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli scored 60 runs each. And I was assuming that if the situation came, I would do my bit with the bat and take the team through.</p>

For the unversed, PCB will hold talks with the BCCI in Dubai, from April 7-10, and is expecting a favourable response from the latter, keeping politics aside.</p>

<p>In a recent interview, Ramiz had mentioned that since the BCCI is being led by a cricketer, he has his hopes&nbsp;pinned&nbsp;on not leaving&nbsp;fans deprived&nbsp;of&nbsp;India-Pakistan bilateral series.</p>

<p>"India-Pakistan (2022 T20 World Cup) tickets were sold in one day, we don't have a political perspective on things and if a fellow cricketer is leading the BCCI, we should be approachable to each other since we don't know politics," said Ramiz.</p>

<p>"I'll talk to Ganguly regarding a four-nation tournament. The future of cricket is in triangular and four-nation competitions. Twenty20 leagues are taking away eyeballs from bilateral cricket, of which the novelty factor is decreasing," he further added.&nbsp;</p>
