‘Watch this creep’, women call out unwanted male attention at gyms on TikTok

One of the largest studies of its kind published in the British&nbsp;Journal of Sports Medicine has shown that regular exercise with weights can lower the risk of premature death.

The research found that those who did 'regular' weightlifting had a 14 per cent lower risk while those who met the aerobic activity levels had a 32 per cent lower risk of premature death.

The study also added that adults who reported meeting the aerobic activity guidelines and weightlifting at least one or two times every week were found to have a 41 per cent&nbsp;to 47 per cent&nbsp;lower risk of premature death.

To arrive at the numbers, US’s National Cancer Institute in Rockville, Maryland examined the research data from almost 100,000 US adults that took part in the study, spread across more than nine years.

Reportedly, the study took participants who had an average age of 71 and asked them about the kind of exercise regimen they partake in. While 23&nbsp;per cent reported having been involved in weightlifting, 16 per cent said they used weights at least one time to six times a week.&nbsp;

Over&nbsp;the next 9.6 years of the study, more than 28,447 deaths were reported with the researchers observing that participants who did weightlifting&nbsp;had a 9 per cent&nbsp;lower “all-cause mortality risk”

The researchers stated that using weights in a workout can make a body leaner as total lean mass is independently associated with a lower risk of premature death.

Thus, many scholars have found that the beginning of popular culture led to the rise of the middle class during the industrial revolution. Industrialisation brought up many developments and advancements such as various types of transportation such as steam, locomotive advancement in building infrastructure, improvements in education and health and the evolution of writing in leaves to writing in printed pages all this led to the creation of popular culture. Popular culture is largely influenced by the mass media in this modern ERA. Television all has a certain form of influence on creating popular culture. As a result, urbanisation, industrialisation, the mass media and the advancement of technology led to the total creation of popular culture. This totalled to the shaping of pop culture.

However, During my study about high culture and popular culture. I found out that this division between the two types is not so clear to me. It has been found that slowly the western countries are now getting influenced by India and slowly have started to do yoga to deal with these issues. Doing yoga keeps your body, and mind in peace. While yoga was first discovered in India. On the opposite side, Indian scholars and people are now getting influenced by western culture and slowly and steadily the younger generation prefers to go to the gym in India rather than do yoga.&nbsp;

As a result, from both countries' perspectives, I found out that popular culture is really a&nbsp;controversial term. It has a negative as well as a positive side&nbsp;

● Positive in the sense, that due to the growth of social media and technology we are getting&nbsp;to know each country's popular culture.

● And, Negative in the sense that due to the growth and the advancement of technology&nbsp;slowly and steadily each country is reading their traditional culture and adopting other countries' culture. For example, as this yoga was first discovered in India according to Vedas, and Upanishad while it has been seen nowadays yoga is slowly been adopted by western countries. While on the other hands GYM is a part of western countries the first GYM was introduced in 2000 BC was first found by Egyptians and Greek , but now during this modern times due the growing and evolution of GYM it also now been adopted by the Indian people .

"There is fear because every action or government circular comes down to how good the police are," says the owner, who gives only his first name, Rajeev. "It is also a matter of our livelihood."

"Everyday I go to my room, I ignore the fact that there is coronavirus and keep on motivating myself that I have to go to the gym," he said.

"This virus is secondary -- if I am healthy then I can kill the virus," he said, adding he would keep coming to the gym despite the threat of police action if caught.

A young Syrian refugee in Turkey got a new year surprise Tuesday from a gym owner when a photo of his went viral on social media.&nbsp;

Identified as&nbsp;Muhammad Hussein, the 12-year-old who earns a living as a shoeshine boy in Turkey&#39;s Adiyaman province was clicked one evening wishfully looking inside the compound of a gym from the street.

His photo posted anonymously on social media instantly clicked with the netizens who showed eagerness to help him get inside the gym.&nbsp;

With an outpour of support for the boy, the supposed gym owner decided to gift the boy a free lifetime pass.&nbsp;

The gym owner then clicked photos of the boy working on the machines and shared it with the media, much to their joy.&nbsp;

Speaking to a local news channel, the owner said, &quot;A boy, looking through the gym window, wearing slippers in the middle of winter and carrying his backpack. Our aim was to find him and offer him a lifetime membership here. And, we did it. He is one of our members now.&quot;

Excited with all the attention, the boy said, &ldquo;&#39;I had always dreamed of losing weight and now I believe I can do that by working out.&rdquo;

Brooks is now the market leader in the US specialty running shoe market with a 29 per cent share. It had total sales in 2014 of $548 million, still only a fraction of overall leader Nike&#39;s sales of $32 billion in the year to May 31. 
 
However, the number of people completing US running events peaked in 2013 at 19 million, according to trade group Running USA, falling to 17 million last year. 
 
&quot;We&#39;re going to change some of our communication and connection and make sure our product is friendly for the gym. Runners are doing a lot of different things today,&quot; Weber told Reuters in an interview in Amsterdam where Brooks is sponsoring the European Athletics Championships. 
 
He said millennials -- those aged 25 to 35 -- were increasingly trying out sports such as aerobics, cross fit and yoga and that his company would respond to that trend. 
 
&quot;They are still buying running shoes but they are not defining that as their main activity,&quot; he said. &quot;We&#39;re not losing sleep. People are going to be active.&quot; 
 
He said the fact millennials were starting families later could mean that they could eventually adopt running. The sport suits people with children as they can fit it into their busy schedule and it is not expensive. 
 
Weber said running was still huge, with 120 million active runners worldwide. Participation is growing fast in Europe and China, and the women&#39;s market is booming. More than half of the shoes Brooks sells in the United States are now to women. 
 
&quot;We are smiling about market share growth opportunities, even as growth slows in the category,&quot; Weber said. 
 
Brooks, which makes a popular line of sports bras in the United States, sees room to sell more clothing, which only accounts for about 20 per cent of revenue now, as well as more retro lifestyle shoes. 
 
Weber suggested the &quot;heritage&quot; range that Brooks launched in its centenary year in 2014 -- fashion shoes usually sold at a lower price point than its performance running models -- could even reach sales of $100 million in five years.
