<p>Promes did not attend court hearings in his case in Amsterdam and was not expected to return to the Netherlands in the foreseeable future.</p>

<p>In another Dutch court case, the former Ajax Amsterdam and Sevilla forward was last year sentenced in absentia to 18 months in jail for assault, in connection with a fight in 2020 in which he stabbed a cousin in the knee.</p>

<p>Promes has denied all charges and has filed an appeal in both cases.</p>

<p>China's foreign ministry said on Tuesday (May 16) that a South Korean soccer player&nbsp;Son Jun-ho, who plays in the Chinese Super League, suspected of accepting bribes has been detained by the public security department of northeast Liaoning province.</p>

<p>According to a South Korean diplomatic source, Son, who plays for the South Korean national team and Chinese Super League club Shandong Taishan, was detained on Friday (May 12), his 31st birthday.</p>

<p>“China is a country governed by the rule of law and will handle the relevant case in accordance with the law to protect the legal rights and interests of the person concerned,” ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin told a news briefing in Beijing.</p>

<p>Reuters was unable to reach Son for comment. South Korea's foreign ministry said its mission in China was providing necessary consular support to Son, but declined to comment further, citing privacy.</p>

<p>Son played in three of the national team's four games during the World Cup last year in Qatar, where South Korea reached the elimination round of the tournament for the first time in 12 years.</p>

<p>News of his detention was first published by Yonhap News. When asked about Son on Monday, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said he was not aware of the case.</p>

<p>"There are 30-32 hydel power projects operational in Sikkim even as the chief minister claims that the state sells electricity to foreign countries like Bangladesh. Unfortunately, the Sikkimese people do not get uninterrupted power supply," the Hamro Sikkim Party leader said.</p>

<p>"Power supply trips for hours during rains or circulation of windy air," he alleged.</p>

<p>Bhaichung said that his party will provide 24x7 electricity if elected to power in the next year's Assembly polls.</p>

The two Bollywood actors met with the football legend in Madrid.

Bollywood actors Arjun Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana met with football legend Cristiano Ronaldo in Madrid on May 16 as the two shared photos on their respective social media profiles. It so turned out that both Arjun and Ayushmann had some work in Madrid while Cristiano was in the same city as he is gearing up for UEFA Champions League final match between Real Madrid and Liverpool on May 27 in Kiev, Ukraine. The two young actors had a great time interacting with Cristiano as they spoke about his impending visit to India, Cristiano’s interest in movies, football and more. Ayushmann was on a brand shoot for American Tourister -- a brand that Cristiano endorses too. Their meeting was arranged by the brand itself. Meanwhile, when Arjun met the footballer, he invited him to come visit India as he has a massive fan following back home.
