People residing in Delhi have been advised to avoid all physical activity outdoors and move activities indoors.

"If asthmatics, keep relief medicine handy. Sensitive Groups must stop outdoor activity at early morning and after sunset times. Avoid prolonged or heavy exertion. Go for a short walk instead of a jog and take more breaks. Stop any activity level if you experience any unusual coughing, chest discomfort, wheezing, breathing difficulty, or fatigue. If the room has windows, close them. If the air Conditioner provides a fresh air intake option, keep that closed," stated an advisory published by SAFAR.

According to the latest report published by the World Health Organisation, as many as one million lives in the world can be saved if all the countries reduce the menace of air pollution in accordance with the Paris Agreement by 2050.

Delhi&rsquo;s AQI was recorded at 310 on Sunday with a reading between 301 and 400 classified under &lsquo;very poor&rsquo; category, the CPCB data stated.&nbsp;

However, with rainfall in parts of NCR on Monday and wind speeds picking up, air quality fell to &lsquo;moderate&rsquo; level with both average PM 2.5 and PM 10 levels hovering close to the prescribed standards.&nbsp;

Delhi fog continues to affect train services with eights trains being canceled and 11 trains running late on Thursday, as per the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO). One train has been rescheduled due to fog and low visibility as well. Meanwhile, a slight respite from the dense fog has been experienced in the entire region. The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 12 degree Celsius and the maximum at 25 degrees Celsius. The AQI was 154 on Monday and 165 and 167 over the next two days, officials said. Delhi’s AQI was recorded at 310 on Sunday with a reading between 301 and 400 classified under ‘very poor’ category, the CPCB data stated. However, with rainfall in parts of NCR on Monday and wind speeds picking up, air quality fell to ‘moderate’ level with both average PM 2.5 and PM 10 levels hovering close to the prescribed standards.

New Delhi: 24 trains delayed, 18 cancelled delayed due to low visibility

The cold wave sweeping northern India tightened its grip in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana and parts of Himachal Pradesh, as dense fog forced the Indian Railways to cancel 22 trains and reschedule another eight.

Delhi recorded the season&#39;s lowest minimum temperature at 4.2 degrees Celsius, three notches below the average, the Met office in the national capital said.

Dense fog delayed 45 north-bound trains, while eight were rescheduled and 22 were cancelled by the Railways.

The night temperature in Srinagar slipped to the season&#39;s lowest at -6.2C, a MeT department official said in Srinagar.

This was the third straight night when the minimum temperature in Srinagar settled at -6.0C or below.

Many water bodies in the the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir have partially frozen due to the intense cold wave. The Dal Lake partially froze early today, but a bright sunshine through the day defroze the popular lake&#39;s surface.

Elsewhere in the Kashmir Valley, the minimum temperature stayed several degrees below the freezing point.

Biting cold conditions persisted in parts of Himachal Pradesh. The high-altitude tribal areas groaned as the minimum temperature in the hills ranged between -13C and -20C.

Keylong and Kalpa, in tribal Lahaul and Spiti, and Kinnaur recorded a low of -7.2C and -3.4C respectively.

The temperature during daytime, however, rose by 2-3 degrees in Himachal, including in Una, which recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 25.8C.

Punjab, Haryana and their common capital Chandigarh remained under the grip of intense cold conditions. Narnaul recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the states at 0.2C.

The minimum temperature remained up to five degrees below the normal in parts of Punjab and Haryana, the MeT office in Chandigarh said.

The minimum temperature in Chandigarh was 3.4C.

In the desert-state Rajasthan, Bhilwara, Alwar, Churu, Sikar, Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh and Pilani districts reeled under the cold wave.

Alwar was recorded the coldest place in the state at 0.3C, followed by 1.5C in Sikar, 2C each in hill station Mount Abu and Churu, and 2.2C in Sriganganagar.

In Uttar Pradesh, the Met office in Lucknow said the day temperature fell markedly in Bareilly division. The lowest minimum temperature in the state was in Meerut at 2.9C.

Dense fog hits Mumbai, Twitterati wonder why

The national capital woke up to moderate fog on Saturday morning with temperature recorded at 11-degree celsius by 7:30 am.

Six trains were cancelled following the low visibility due to the fog.

Delhi: 25 trains running late, 6 cancelled due to fog

In a surprise move, <a href="http://the Environment Pollution Control Authority(EPCA) today">the Environment Pollution Control Authority (EPCA) today</a> issued a direction to remove ban on entry of trucks and construction activities in Delhi.

The <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/delhi-pollution-children-are-inhaling-cigarette-the-moment-they-are-born-24287">four-time hike in parking fees was </a>withdrawn by the EPCA.

The Delhi government had written a letter to the Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Wednesday requesting the parking fee be withdrawn.

In the letter, the Delhi government had said: &quot;Hiking the parking charges by DMRC would mean commuters who would otherwise park their vehicles in DMRC parking and use the Metro are likely to travel in their own vehicle.&quot;

The letter said Lt Governor&#39;s decision to enhance parking charges &quot;appeared to have been taken in haste&quot;, adding,&quot;it has resulted in commuters parking on the roadside, leading to shrinking of road space for driving.&quot;

&quot;The decision to hike parking charges hasn&#39;t fulfilled the desired objective,&quot; the letter said.

Last week, the EPCA had directed the Delhi government to intensify public transport service to ensure there are more buses on the road as pollution dipped alarmingly in the national capital.

The pollution control body had also advised the Delhi government to implement the odd-even scheme for private vehicles however the NGT refused to allow exemptions to women drivers and&nbsp;government vehicles, as a result, the Kejriwal government decided to drop the scheme.

Meanwhile, the NGT has directed all schools and colleges in Delhi to install the rainwater harvesting systems within two months. The tribunal has decided to impose a fine of Rs 5 lakh if schools fail to implement the water system.

The National Green Tribunal on Thursday also directed the Delhi government to submit data of ambient air quality and said it would consider lifting its ban on construction and industrial activity in the National Capital Region (NCR) on that basis.

A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar said that it would take up the matter on Friday and till then its order would be in force.
