Here's why Elon Musk is sued by Twitter shareholders

After buying the biggest stake in Twitter and riling up Twitterati with polls Elon musk has decided to not join the board why now? Here are the complete details.

Elon Musk drops out of Twitter board

The announcement last week that Tesla CEO Elon Musk had become Twitter's largest shareholder ignited a roller-coaster of events, culminating in the platform's CEO Parag Agarwal declaring Musk had walked away.

As per reports by AFP and Reuters, experts have now warned that Elon Musk's refusal of a Twitter board position allows him to increase his ownership share in the social media site while avoiding commitments to promote its best interests.

Close observers of the company speculated on what would happen next, but noticed potentially alarming indicators in the world's wealthiest person's plans for Twitter.

"This now goes from a Cinderella story with Musk joining the Twitter board and keeping his stake under 14.9 percent, helping move Twitter strategically forward, to likely a 'Game of Thrones' battle between Musk and Twitter," according to Wedbush analyst Dan Ives.

Ives said that one possible scenario is that Musk might declare the game is finished and focus on his many other projects, like electric automobiles, space travel, and even connecting human brains to computers.

However, he warned that other possible scenarios include Musk attempting to impose his will on Twitter or even attempting to sell the company.

Musk had agreed to limit his stake in the company to under 15 per cent as part of his commitment to join the board. Now, this is in the air.

However, according to Techsponential analyst Avi Greengart, he may now continue to buy stock and push for reform without having to make friends with Twitter board members.

The trial opened with the jury on Monday and several celebrities are listed as potential witnesses.
Depp sued Heard in 2019 for $50 million for an op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post alleging that she was a victim of domestic abuse. The op-ed did not identify Depp directly in the piece, but wrote that she is "a public figure representing domestic abuse."

The witness list in the case includes actors James Franco, Paul Bettany as well as billionaire Elon Musk.

Representatives from the ACLU, Los Angeles Police Department, Disney and Warner Bros. are also listed. Some witnesses are likely to appear remotely.
Depp’s lawyers have earlier stated that the article falsely implies she was physically and sexually abused by Depp when the two were married.
Depp previously filed a similar lawsuit in England against a tabloid that had called him a 'wife beater'. Depp had lost after the judge there determined that the actor indeed assaulted Heard on a dozen occasions and put her in fear for her life on multiple occasions.

Elon Musk won't be joining board of directors, says Twitter CEO

Eccentric billionaire, Tesla CEO and Twitter's major shareholder Elon Musk has done it again.

The world's richest man who recently became Twitter's largest shareholder has suggested yet another seemingly bizarre poll. This time he has asked his followers if the social media giant's headquarters should be turned into a homeless shelter because as he puts it "no one shows up anyway".

Amazon Inc founder Jeff Bezos backed Musk's plan to convert the San Francisco headquarters of social networking firm Facebook into a homeless shelter. Apparently, this is because only a few people are working there during the pandemic.

Tweeting about an article in May 2020 from the technology-focused blog GeekWire about Amazon's eight-floor family homeless shelter included in its Seattle headquarters, he said that the initiative worked out great and it also allows employees to volunteer.

US President Joe Biden has proposed to introduce a new minimum income tax targeting the billionaires as part of the 2023 budget plan, according to local media reports.

Called the "Billionaire Minimum Income Tax", the Biden administration plans to levy 20 per cent on households worth more than $100 million, including unrealized investment income, CNN quoted the White House.

The proposal aims to close a purported loophole that benefits US’ 700-odd billionaires, many of whom have most of their wealth in stock, which is not taxed until it is sold for a profit.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said Friday that Tesla is recalling 947 vehicles in the United States because the rearview image may not immediately display when they begin to reverse.

Tesla said "over the following week, an engineering investigation into the condition identified a software error as a potential cause for further assessment."

Tesla said that "despite not finding a noncompliance in the tests that Tesla conducted, a recall determination was made out of an abundance of caution to recognize the potential presence of a noncompliance in affected vehicles."

Previously, NHTSA made Tesla recall nearly 579,000 vehicles in the US because a “Boombox” function can play sounds over an external speaker and obscure audible warnings for pedestrians of an approaching vehicle.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, when asked on Twitter why the company agreed to the recall, responded: “The fun police made us do it (sigh).”

It comes after US auto safety regulators had launched investigation on Tesla as its cars stopped on roads for no apparent reason.

The vehicles were equipped with partially automated driver-assist features such as adaptive cruise control and “Autopilot,” which allows them to automatically brake and steer within their lanes.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said Friday that Tesla is recalling 947 vehicles in the United States because the rearview image may not immediately display when they begin to reverse. Tesla said "over the following week, an engineering investigation into the condition identified a software error as a potential cause for further assessment." Tesla said that "despite not finding a noncompliance in the tests that Tesla conducted, a recall determination was made out of an abundance of caution to recognize the potential presence of a noncompliance in affected vehicles." The models recalled by the US electric automaker include 2018-2019 Model S, Model X, and 2017-2020 Model 3 vehicles which are equipped with Autopilot Computer 2.5 and operating certain firmware releases. Previously, NHTSA made Tesla recall nearly 579,000 vehicles in the US because a “Boombox” function can play sounds over an external speaker and obscure audible warnings for pedestrians of an approaching vehicle. Tesla CEO Elon Musk, when asked on Twitter why the company agreed to the recall, responded: “The fun police made us do it (sigh).” Also read | Elon Musk announces humanoid robot Tesla Bot that uses artificial intelligence It comes after US auto safety regulators had launched investigation on Tesla as its cars stopped on roads for no apparent reason. The vehicles were equipped with partially automated driver-assist features such as adaptive cruise control and “Autopilot,” which allows them to automatically brake and steer within their lanes. “Complainants report that the rapid deceleration can occur without warning, and often repeatedly during a single drive cycle,” the agency said.
