And she did so by accident, it seems: the magazine reporter said he heard what sounded like a baby crying upstairs during the interview at Grimes' home in Texas and after Grimes first winced and acted evasively, she finally confirmed that, yes, she was a mom again.

Due to fears that she would have complications, which Grimes said she endured during her first pregnancy, the parents decided this time to use a surrogate.

The birth of their first child, a boy born in May 2020, was followed closely in the press -- notably because of the choice of name: <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/elon-musk-and-grimes-reveal-nickname-of-their-newborn-son-302103">X Æ A-12</a>, or more simply, X.

Elon Musk -- the head of Tesla and SpaceX, and currently the richest person in the world -- announced last fall that he was "semi-separated" from the singer.&nbsp;

"I would probably refer to him as my boyfriend, but we’re very fluid," Grimes told Vanity Fair.&nbsp;

The eclectic artist, whose real name is Claire Boucher, added that she and Musk live in separate houses but remain "best friends."

"We see each other all the time... We just have our own thing going on, and I don’t expect other people to understand it," she said.

The name Exa Dark Sideræl, Grimes explained, includes multiple references to space and technology: she said Exa refers to supercomputing; Sideræl, a more "elven" spelling of sidereal -- this word means involving distant stars -- and Dark, for "the unknown."

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Inc, has asked a federal district court to terminate his 2018 agreement with the Securities and Exchange Commission that requires some of his tweets containing business-related information to be vetted before publication.

Musk’s lawyers have asked the court to block a summons issued by the top US securities regulator requesting records of pre-approval of a Twitter poll he conducted in November on potentially selling some of his stock.

"The more the SEC monitors Mr. Musk’s Twitter activity, and forces others to do the same, the more Mr. Musk’s freedom of expression is infringed," Musk's lawyers wrote to US&nbsp;District Judge Alison Nathan in Manhattan.

Musk’s lawyers said the 2018 consent decree resolving SEC securities fraud charges should not allow "roving and unbounded investigations" into the Tesla CEO, while impeding his constitutional right to free speech.

The tweet called into question Musk’s compliance with his SEC agreement to obtain approval from a Tesla lawyer before publishing.

According to the filing, Musk felt "forced" to sign the initial 2018 agreement because "the SEC’s action stood to jeopardise the company’s financing" and "protracted litigation" would not be in shareholders’ interest.

Mr. Nelson has been making a persistent pitch for funding, but Congress appears unpersuaded. Vice President Kamala Harris, the chair of the National Space Council, rarely mentions human spaceflight, stressing instead “the responsibility to look to our home planet.”

Like the United States, China hopes to build a research station on the lunar surface. Unlike the United States, China gives no reason to doubt its resolve. It will also have a partner: Russia. The two countries have already begun to align their efforts.

Mr. Nelson cites an “aggressive” China as a reason for Americans to “get off our duff,” but a few national security questions require a fuller airing. What if, for example, China stakes out strategic positions on the moon? What if it asserts control over the resources it and other nations are searching for there: silicon, titanium and, not least, the water that is needed to sustain a human settlement? As Namrata Goswami, an expert on China’s space policy, has argued, “An advantage in accessing the vast wealth of the inner solar system could have an effect on the balance of power” on Earth.

If anyone is as bullish on the new frontier as China, it is the billionaires. Their ambitions, too, should spur NASA to stay in the game. Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk might or might not be visionaries, but they are easily the most powerful people on this planet to speak with a straight face about colonizing other ones. Mr. Musk warns of an “extinction event” that will require us to leave Earth behind. There is a certain egalitarianism in the idea of an escape hatch for humanity, though it is the egalitarianism of rats leaving a sinking (or overheating) ship. It would have to get pretty bad down here before ordinary people follow the billionaires into the black void of space rather than bid them adieu. Mr. Musk’s product placement of a Tesla in orbit and Mr. Bezos’ postflight performance in his cowboy hat leave one wary of their motives and nostalgic for the military bearing of Glenn. If space travel lost its novelty in the early 1970s, it might now be in the process of losing its dignity.

Of course, this takes nothing away from the achievements of Mr. Musk’s aerospace company, SpaceX. Rarely in any industry has such boldness of imagination been matched by such brilliance in execution. The company is an indispensable partner to NASA; a SpaceX landing system will carry astronauts to and from the moon’s surface.

But there is an essential difference between exploration and colonization, and both are a far cry from commercialization. Left to the billionaires, space is less likely to become a haven for humanity than a playground for its wealthiest members. In that event, there will be no more John Glenns — no more astronauts to look up to and emulate, astronauts whose humility and awe in the vastness of space define them as much as their bravery does.

“The exploration of space will go ahead, whether we join in it or not,” Kennedy said in 1962 at Rice University, warning that “no nation which expects to be the leader of other nations can expect to stay behind in this race for space.” Perhaps this logic has lost its power; perhaps Americans don’t care if the billionaires and China have the moon to themselves. Don’t cede the Space Race to China and the billionaires

The auto safety regulators in the United States have launched another investigation of Tesla, this time tied to complaints that its cars can stop on roads for no apparent reason.

“Complainants report that the rapid deceleration can occur without warning, and often repeatedly during a single drive cycle,” the agency says.

Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk, who has a long history of clashing with US safety officials, denied there was a safety issue with the function.&nbsp;

The vehicles are equipped with partially automated driver-assist features such as adaptive cruise control and “Autopilot,” which allows them to automatically brake and steer within their lanes.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) ordered Tesla to issue a recall to prevent some of its vehicles from making "rolling stops" instead of coming to a complete halt at some intersections.

Tesla has said it develops almost all its software to allow for regular over-the-air updates. The carmaker has issued software updates that control vehicle performance, braking, battery charging and infotainment functions.

In a letter to US District Judge Alison Nathan, attorneys for Musk, a longtime critic of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), accused the agency of propagating "endless unfounded investigations" into the Tesla boss and his company.

"The SEC seems to be targeting Mr. Musk and Tesla for unrelenting investigation largely because Mr. Musk remains an outspoken critic of the government," Spiro said.

Musk's Space X corporation is providing 50 very-small-aperture terminals (VSAT) "and we are looking at how we can best utilize it," Prime Minister Siaosi Sovaleni said Friday.&nbsp;

Technical staff from SpaceX and the&nbsp;Tonga&nbsp;Government were working on installing the equipment to have it operational from next week.&nbsp;

Max Fosh registered the company online as: unlimited money limited&nbsp;and in the box which asked what would the company be doing, he posted - making money, however, an error popped&nbsp;up which asked&nbsp;him to choose the company's business activity.

Fosh&nbsp;casually ticked&nbsp;the box which said:&nbsp;manufacture of "macaroni, noodles, couscous and similar farinaceous products". However, he admitted&nbsp;that he does not understand what "farinaceous" means but says "that's what the company does".

His bid to become a billionaire went viral on the net as users had a lot of fun.

Founder and CEO of Tesla Inc. Elon Musk tweeted support for Canadian truckers who had shut down roads and bridges in late January, drawing international attention to their opposition to Trudeau's health policies.

Musk responded to a tweet that described how Trudeau's government had ordered banks to cut funding to protesters by posting a meme of Adolf Hitler, with "Stop comparing me to Justin Trudeau" written over his head and "I had a budget" below it.

Many Twitter users considered Musk's comparison of Trudeau with Hitler, who led the Nazis to genocide millions of Jews and started World War Two, to be too extreme. Musk is known for his edgy humour and blunt assessment, but many users found his comparison of Trudeau with Hitler to be far-fetched.

It comes after Musk asked on Twitter poll if people thought he should sell 10 percent of his stake in Tesla. Most people who responded said he should.

Since conducting that survey Musk has sold more than 11 million shares in Tesla. He hit 10 percent of his stake when he sold 6 million more.

This is more than he needs to pay current tax obligations, and experts say he’s either converting part of his fortune from stock to cash, or he’s saving for bigger tax bills that will come due next year.

Tech entrepreneur Jared Isaacman has announced that he will make another private spaceflight launching from NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre, alongside two SpaceX engineers and a former Air Force fighter pilot.

It’s the first of three planned flights to try out new tech,&nbsp;including still-in-the-works spacewalking suits,&nbsp;culminating in the first flight with people of SpaceX’s new Starship, which is intended for moon and Mars travel.

Isaacman indicated that he’d like to be aboard the second spaceflight in this programme named after the triple-star system Polaris,&nbsp;another Dragon mission,&nbsp;and on the first Starship crew as well.

It will include orbiting through the Van Allen radiation belt, which protects the Earth from the solar wind. The inner Van Allen belt lies from 400 to 6,000 miles (640 to 9,700 kilometers) above the surface.

The programme represents a new step for the commercial space sector, as Elon Musk's SpaceX seeks to carry out ambitious exploration missions, until now the domain of national space agencies.

"On Polaris Dawn, we endeavor to achieve the highest Earth orbit ever flown in addition to conducting the world's first commercial spacewalk and testing of Starlink laser-based communication," he said in a statement.

“Let’s get Polaris Dawn right and then we’ll think about the next mission,” he said.

For the spacewalk, the entire Dragon capsule will be depressurised just as the Gemini capsules were, with each crew member in pressurised suits.&nbsp;

“If we are to have a more permanent presence on the moon and some day build a colony on Mars, we have a lot to learn, including better suit designs,” he said.

They’ll also use Starlink internet satellites launched by SpaceX to test communication from orbit.

The crew, which includes former US Air Force Colonel Scott Poteet as pilot, and two SpaceX employees, mission specialist Sarah Gillis and mission specialist and medical officer Anna Menon, &nbsp;will attempt the first commercial space walk at roughly 300 miles altitude.

During the mission, they will also test laser-based communication in space using SpaceX's Starlink satellite network, and conduct medical research such as studying decompression sickness, the impacts of space radiation, and the effects of spaceflight on eye health.
