"Based on these new JWST data and using three independent methods, we do not find strong evidence for a Hubble tension," said Freedman, who is a renowned astronomer and the John and Marion Sullivan University professor in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Chicago.

Tariakuiri Alvarez, a descendant of the tribe, told the publication that the storm could be a harbinger of a significant event.

"For our ancestors, the builders, this was a bad omen that indicated the proximity of an important event."

He linked the collapse to traditional beliefs, recalling how similar occurrences preceded the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors.

"Before the arrival of the conquistadors, something similar happened, which for the Purépecha worldview of that time was because the gods Nana Kuerhaepiri and K'eri Kurikweri were displeased."

The Mexican National Institute for Anthropology and History (INAH) in a statement acknowledged the damage to the pyramid, explaining that it resulted from an unusual combination of extreme weather conditions.&nbsp;

"A collapse occurred in the central part of the southern facade of one of the pyramidal bases of the Ihuatzio Archaeological Zone."

"High temperatures, previously recorded in the area, and the consequent drought caused cracks that favoured the filtration of water into the interior of the pre-Hispanic building."

INAH officials have been on site since the early hours of July 30, assessing the damage. Their preliminary findings reveal significant damage to "at least six of the stepped bodies of the so-called South Base, both in its exterior wall of slabs, as well as in its core and retaining wall."

The restoration efforts, as per the statement, will involve a detailed, interdisciplinary approach to ensure that the pyramid is not only repaired but also preserved for the future.&nbsp;

Unlike most Armageddon escape plans&nbsp;which are directed towards the billionaires and uber-rich people of the society, Vivos claims they are targeting basic buyers who are aware that the world might be edging closer to an end and want to be prepared for what may come.&nbsp;

According to the company, the 575 shelters/bunkers are capable of fitting up to 10,000 people and outfitted for a minimum of one year of autonomous operation without people needing to return to the surface.

“Our members are neither ‘preppers’ nor the ‘elite one per cent’, but rather well-educated, average people with a keen awareness of the current global events and a sense of responsibility knowing they must care for and protect their families during these potentially epic and catastrophic times,”&nbsp;Vivos’ executive director, Dante Vicino was quoted as saying by Jam Press.&nbsp;

Want to escape doomsday? A US company is selling affordable $55K bunkers to survive end of times

Climate crises, nuclear Armageddon, or a sudden meteor strike -- it's clear humanity could do with Planet B.&nbsp;But first we need to learn to reproduce safely in&nbsp;space, says&nbsp;Dutch&nbsp;entrepreneur Egbert Edelbroek.

Edelbroek's&nbsp;firm, Spaceborn United, is pioneering&nbsp;space&nbsp;sex research, with the eventual aim of natural conception and birth in the partial gravity environment found on Mars.

The challenges of achieving safe&nbsp;space&nbsp;sex are galactic, but the ambitious Dutchman is confident he will see an extraterrestrial human child born within his lifetime.

"It's important that the Earth and humanity can become a multiplanetary species," Edelbroek told AFP.

"If you want to have independent human settlements beyond Earth, and if you really want them to be independent, you also need to address the reproductive challenge," said the entrepreneur.

Actual sexual intercourse in&nbsp;space&nbsp;presents many difficulties, chief among them the lack of gravity -- a couple would drift away from each other -- so Spaceborn United is first trying to conceive an embryo in&nbsp;space.

Starting with mice, before eventually moving to human sperm and egg cells, the&nbsp;firm&nbsp;has created a disc that mixes the cells together, to produce a viable embryo.

It's like a "space&nbsp;station for your cells", said Aqeel Shamsul, CEO of the UK-based Frontier&nbsp;Space&nbsp;Technologies, which is working with Spaceborn on the project.

This embryo is then cryogenically frozen, to pause their development, but also to protect them during re-entry -- "It's a lot of shaking, a lot of vibration, a lot of G-forces. You don't want to expose embryos to this," said Edelbroek.

Research is currently under way in simulated partial gravity laboratory conditions but Edelbroek said a launch with mice cells was planned for the end of next year, with a timeline of "about five or six years" for the first launch with a human embryo.

<h2>Delicate topic</h2>

But that's only one small step. A giant ethical leap remains before such an embryo could be implanted back into an Earthling woman to give birth to the first child conceived in&nbsp;space.

"It's a delicate topic. You're exposing vulnerable human cells, human embryos, eventually, to the hazards of&nbsp;space, to radiation that is much higher than on Earth, to different gravity environments that embryos are never designed for," said Edelbroek.

Such ethical issues are one reason why research into&nbsp;space&nbsp;reproduction has generally been left to private firms like Spaceborn, rather than&nbsp;NASA, which is queasy about spending tax dollars on such sensitive topics.

Edelbroek said his&nbsp;firm&nbsp;was the only one looking to develop a human embryo in&nbsp;space.&nbsp;

Bodily fluids that are pulled down on Earth would be drawn upwards in a low-gravity environment, posing several challenges for the human body.

"An adult body can handle some differences, but you don't want to expose a growing, more vulnerable, foetus to these different variables. So you need to create the perfect environment first," he said.

<h2>Crazy ambitious</h2>

One new factor in&nbsp;space&nbsp;reproduction is the growth of&nbsp;space&nbsp;tourism, fuelled by companies like SpaceX and Virgin Galactic.

Couples on a&nbsp;space&nbsp;tourism flight might want to go down in history as the first to conceive, warned Edelbroek, adding that he was consulting with the sector to make them aware of the risks.

Edelbroek's firm, Spaceborn United, is pioneering space sex research, with the eventual aim of natural conception and birth in the partial gravity environment found on Mars. The challenges of achieving safe space sex are galactic, but the ambitious Dutchman is confident he will see an extraterrestrial human child born within his lifetime. "It's important that the Earth and humanity can become a multiplanetary species," Edelbroek told AFP. "If you want to have independent human settlements beyond Earth, and if you really want them to be independent, you also need to address the reproductive challenge," said the entrepreneur. Actual sexual intercourse in space presents many difficulties, chief among them the lack of gravity -- a couple would drift away from each other -- so Spaceborn United is first trying to conceive an embryo in space. Starting with mice, before eventually moving to human sperm and egg cells, the firm has created a disc that mixes the cells together, to produce a viable embryo. It's like a "space station for your cells", said Aqeel Shamsul, CEO of the UK-based Frontier Space Technologies, which is working with Spaceborn on the project. This embryo is then cryogenically frozen, to pause their development, but also to protect them during re-entry -- "It's a lot of shaking, a lot of vibration, a lot of G-forces. You don't want to expose embryos to this," said Edelbroek. Research is currently under way in simulated partial gravity laboratory conditions but Edelbroek said a launch with mice cells was planned for the end of next year, with a timeline of "about five or six years" for the first launch with a human embryo. Delicate topic But that's only one small step. A giant ethical leap remains before such an embryo could be implanted back into an Earthling woman to give birth to the first child conceived in space. "It's a delicate topic. You're exposing vulnerable human cells, human embryos, eventually, to the hazards of space, to radiation that is much higher than on Earth, to different gravity environments that embryos are never designed for," said Edelbroek. Such ethical issues are one reason why research into space reproduction has generally been left to private firms like Spaceborn, rather than NASA, which is queasy about spending tax dollars on such sensitive topics. Edelbroek said his firm was the only one looking to develop a human embryo in space. Bodily fluids that are pulled down on Earth would be drawn upwards in a low-gravity environment, posing several challenges for the human body. "An adult body can handle some differences, but you don't want to expose a growing, more vulnerable, foetus to these different variables. So you need to create the perfect environment first," he said. Crazy ambitious One new factor in space reproduction is the growth of space tourism, fuelled by companies like SpaceX and Virgin Galactic. According to the US prosecutors, the 50-year-old woman became obsessed with a religious apocalypse and believed that her children must be wiped off so that they could go to heaven.

It was further argued that Lori, who hails from Idaho, believed her children were zombies and that she was a goddess sent to usher in the Biblical apocalypse.

<h2>Judge hands three life sentences </h2>

On Monday (July 31), Lori was given three life sentences for killing her children—16-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow—and for the conspiracy to commit murder in the death of Tammy Daybell, the first wife of her husband, Chad Daybell.

She will serve these charges consecutively, Judge Steven W Boyce ruled, with two additional life sentences and a sentence of 10 years for grand theft to be served concurrently, reports CNN.

While handing out the sentence, Judge Boyce said that the defendant’s lack of a prior criminal record was the “single most mitigating factor” in the case.

He said that she had shown no remorse despite getting convicted of “the most serious charges”.

“Murder is the most serious offence, and the most unimaginable type of murder is to have a mother murdering her own children, and that’s exactly what you did,” he said, addressing Lori.

To which the judge responded, “I don’t believe that any God in any religion would want to have this happen.”

The children went missing in September 2019, and Tammy Daybell died the following month. Lori and Chad, who was her lover, married just weeks later.

In June 2020, law enforcement authorities discovered the remains of Tylee and JJ in Daybell’s backyard in Fremont County.

Chad will be tried separately in April 2024 on two felony counts of conspiracy to commit destruction; alteration or concealment of evidence; and two felony counts of destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence. He has pleaded not guilty.
