We talked about the conflict they had along the border with China. We've talked about the risk that emanates from the Chinese telecommunication infrastructure there," Pompeo told reporters in response to a question.

All these prominent personalities have hispanic roots.&nbsp;

The Trumps do know how to sell a product. The question is: Can they do this being in the position they hold?

Can the president of the US endorse commercial products? Is Ivanka misusing her official position as a senior advisor too the US president by endorsing a can of beans.&nbsp;

The law says both of them can very much do that. But critics question the ethics.

Since the 1970s, the US Justice Department has emphasised on the importance of presidents acting as though all the rules applies to them. Most US presidents have historically divested their conflicting financial interests or placed them in blind trusts.&nbsp; 
&nbsp;&nbsp; 
But what former US presidents did was voluntarily.&nbsp;

Norms, ethics are not just for Trump. His very first act as president was to breach all such norms.&nbsp;

He made it absolutely clear that he won't divest financial interests, which means he can still run his businesses while in office.&nbsp;

He can buy out any casion in Vegas, invest in Florida's golf resorts and certainly endorse Goya products.&nbsp;

No law can prevent the US president from doing that.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Trump's support is declining amongst the Americans and he should probably focus on selling himself than a can of black beans.&nbsp;

The US elections are less than a month away and he has removed his campaign manager Brad Parscale.&nbsp;

However, her comments could violate government ethics rules that prohibit the use of public office to endorse products or advance personal business gains.

The US Office of Government Ethics did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment.

The hashtags #Goyaway and #BoycottGoya trended on Twitter after Robert Unanue, chief executive of the New Jersey-based company, appeared with Trump at the White House last week for the creation of an advisory panel on spurring Hispanic prosperity.

"We're all truly blessed at the same time to have a leader like President Trump who is a builder, and that’s what my grandfather did,” said Unanue, the third generation of his family to run the business.

The comment alienated many Goya consumers, who consider Trump racist against Hispanic people because of his immigration policies, his calling Mexicans "rapists" during his 2016 presidential campaign, and his reportedly calling El Salvador a "shithole country" at a 2018 White House meeting.

"Remain neutral in your teaching and be mindful of the language you use," read one email to staff of HKU SPACE, a college attached to the prestigious University of Hong Kong (HKU). 
 
"Any behaviour in eliciting further discussion on sensitive issues MUST be avoided," the email from the program director of the humanities and law faculty said. 
 
It ended with a warning of "zero-tolerance against politics or personal political views brought into classrooms". 
 
One recipient told AFP the instruction amounted to self censorship. 
 
"This may be partly out of genuine concern for staff, but it strangles free speech without the government having to lift a finger," said a lecturer who asked not to be identified. 
 
In a statement, HKU said the email was "private correspondence" and not official policy, but it added that classrooms must be "a politically neutral space where participants focus on academic learning".

Hong Kong has some of Asia's best schools and universities and -- compared with China's party-controlled education system -- boasts an open campus culture of critical analysis and tackling subjects that are unapproachable on the mainland.

At a speech to an education summit last weekend, city leader Carrie Lam said schools and universities had become "politicised".

In Chicago, the rate was much higher, with black people six times more likely to be killed by police.

Another 2019 study found that young black men are at the highest risk of being killed by the police in the US.

The Washington Post did a similar follow up which found that even though white people are as killed as much as black Americans, the latter are shot more than the former. The found that even though the black population makes up 13 per cent of the US, they are twice as likely to be killed by the police.

Many others also feel that Trump is still yet to formally acknowledge police brutality against African Americans in the country.

In the aftermath of the protests, many Confederate symbols across the country have been forcibly removed by protesters. It is largely seen as the last remaining symbol of slavery in the country, especially in the southern states.
