It may sound bizarre to consume alcohol while performing asanas, but the participants at a yoga session in Denmark seem to have indulged in beer, as a video on social media shows. While none of us would believe that alcohol and yoga could be mixed, in the video that has now gone viral, the practitioners at the Copenhagen gathering are seen sipping beer while performing yoga.

News agency AFP recently shared a clip of the yoga session and it stirred a debate on the internet. The video shows around 100 people performing yoga by the Copenhagen harbour. What left us spellbound was their unique approach to yoga as they held a can of beer while doing different asanas. The participants were carrying “cans of crisp, cold, refreshing beer” in their hands. They were also sipping beer amid the exercise.

As the video proceeds, we can also hear Jacob, a yoga practitioner, saying the session was free and that too, with beer which led him to take part in the event. He said, “Some of my friends told me about this little quirky event, down here. It was free and there was beer and then why not, I just showed up! It was so amazing just sitting here in the sun and getting a little bit of exercise while drinking a beer, it couldn’t be better.”

The viral video quickly grabbed the attention of the users and amassed over 80K views. Netizens were quick enough to react to the video. The internet appeared divided as some of them appreciated the initiative while many others criticised for maligning yoga.

In a move to underline the revolutionary aspects and risks of artificial intelligence, Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, on Wednesday, delivered a speech to parliament that was partly written by the AI chatbot ChatGPT.

"What I have just read here is not from me. Or any other human for that matter,"&nbsp; Frederiksen suddenly said part-way into her speech to legislators, explaining it was written by ChatGPT.&nbsp;

"Even if it didn't always hit the nail on the head, both in terms of the details of the government's work programme and punctuation... it is both fascinating and terrifying what it is capable of,"&nbsp;the leader added.

The part of Frederiksen's speech framed by ChatGPT contained sentences like: "It has been an honour and a challenge to lead a broad government in the last parliamentary year."

"We have worked hard to co-operate across parties and ensure a strong and sustainable future for Denmark," and "We have taken steps to combat climate change and ensure a fairer and more inclusive society where all citizens have equal opportunities," were the other sentences written by ChatGPT.

"Although we have faced challenges and resistance along the way, I am proud of what we have achieved together in the last parliamentary year."

<h2>EU, US to release draft code of conduct on AI ‘within weeks’</h2>

European Union and the United States on Wednesday said they expect a draft code of conduct on Artificial Intelligence (AI) might be released “within weeks”, adding that they are hopeful fellow democracies and like-minded nations will subscribe to it.&nbsp;

The voluntary code “would be open to all like-minded countries,” US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said after having discussions with EU officials in Sweden.

“There’s almost always a gap when new technologies emerge,” Blinken said, adding that there was time “for governments and institutions to figure out how to legislate or regulate.”

European Commission Vice President and tech chief Margrethe Vestager said the draft could be drawn up within weeks. She said, “We think it’s really important that citizens can see that democracies can deliver.” She voiced hope “to do that in the broadest possible circle, with our friends in Canada, in the UK, in Japan, in India, bringing as many onboard as possible.”

<h2>ChatGPT-maker OpenAI cites ‘existential threat’ in call for AI regulation</h2>

Asserting that an International Atomic Energy Agency equivalent would be required to safeguard humanity from the risks posed by fast-developing Artificial Intelligence, the makers of ChatGPT — OpenAI, have called for the regulation of 'superintelligent' AIs.

OpenAI co-founders Greg Brockman, Ilya Sutskever and the chief executive, Sam Altman, in a note published on the company's website, asked for an international regulator to begin working on ways to “inspect systems, require audits, test for compliance with safety standards, and place restrictions on degrees of deployment and levels of security” in order to reduce the “existential risk” such systems could pose.

“It’s conceivable that within the next 10 years, AI systems will exceed expert skill level in most domains, and carry out as much productive activity as one of today’s largest corporations,” the note read.&nbsp;

“In terms of both potential upsides and downsides, superintelligence will be more powerful than other technologies humanity has had to contend with in the past. We can have a dramatically more prosperous future, but we have to manage risk to get there. Given the possibility of existential risk, we can’t just be reactive.”&nbsp;

Russia-Ukraine war: Denmark offers to host peace summit in July, Scholz to speak with Putin

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen put forward a proposal on Monday saying that Denmark 'would like to host' a summit aimed at establishing peace between Ukraine and Russia in July. He further stated that for such a meeting, he would&nbsp;require&nbsp;engagement from India, China and Brazil.

During the G7 meeting in Japan on Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sought support for Kyiv's plan to end Russia's war in Ukraine. He also further proposed to hold a global summit in July.

"If Ukraine finds that the time has come to have such a meeting, that would be fantastic. And then Denmark would obviously like to host the meeting," Lokke Rasmussen told reporters on the sidelines of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels.

A proposal, that was put forward in the month of December by Ukraine to hold a peace summit in February 2023, was never substantiated.

"For starters, we need to put some effort into creating a global commitment to organise such a meeting," Lokke Rasmussen said, adding that a summit should not just be attended by Ukraine's allies.

"It is necessary to build interest and involvement from countries like India, Brazil and China," he said. "It is hard for me to see" Russia taking part, he added. &nbsp;&nbsp;

"They are in Bakhmut," he said, not clarifying if that referred to Russian or Ukrainian troops.

"I cannot share with you the tactical views of our military. The most difficult thing would be if there was some tactical mistake in Bakhmut and our people were surrounded," he said.

Denmark willing to host Ukraine peace summit, seeks engagement from India, China and Brazil

Scientists in Denmark are puzzled by a series of tremors from the Danish Baltic island of Bornholm who have claimed that it is being caused by "acoustic pressure waves from the atmosphere”, and added that they are unable to ascertain the source of this mysterious geological phenomenon.

These tremors were first recorded on Saturday, after the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GUES)—the official body that monitors the underground—received "more than 60" tips from people in Bornholm about "earthquake-like tremors" reported in the afternoon.

They described the tremors as deep rumbling, shaking and rattling, and changing pressure in the ear.

Initially, many falsely believed that they may have been caused by earthquakes. Seismologists had theorised that they may have originated from controlled explosions in Poland, more than nearly 90 miles (145 km) to the south.

However, on Monday, the GUES clarified that the tremors were "not caused by earthquakes, but by pressure waves from an event in the atmosphere." However, they came from "an unknown source."

"The seismologists can report that it is unlikely that the tremors originate from a controlled explosion in Poland, which was carried out shortly before the first reports of tremors on Bornholm," the body known as GEUS said in a statement.

Danish media reported that police had received complaints from the public about the tremor on the eastern part of the island. The tremors also caused a crack in the wall of some of the houses. But no one was injured.

The Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland said that seismic tremors were measured at a magnitude of 2.3.

Polish authorities have said that there was intensive activity during the Anakonda23 exercise in Ustka, northern Poland, involving jet fighters and live firing of artillery munitions.

GEUS, an independent research and advisory institution within Denmark’s Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities, said that it had two seismographs on Bornholm that collect data around the clock.

Scientists baffled over ‘mysterious tremors’ recorded in Denmark

A day after a mysterious object was retrieved by the Danish navy near Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea, the Danish Energy Agency said Wednesday that it appeared to be a maritime buoy which poses no safety risk, as per reports.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Danish defence department earlier put out images of a 15 inches tall and about 4 inches diameter mysterious object.&nbsp;Danish authorities about two weeks ago said that an unidentified object was found during an inspection close to the Nord Stream 2 pipeline and they were able to retrieve it on Tuesday.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

"Investigations indicate that the object is an empty maritime smoke buoy, which is used for visual marking. The object does not pose a safety risk," the Danish Energy Agency said in a statement, reported Reuters.&nbsp;

Denmark, in order to help salvage the mysterious object, invited the Russia-controlled operator of the pipeline.&nbsp;In September last year, explosions at the Nord Stream 2 pipelines, which is majority-owned by Russia's state-run energy giant Gazprom, became a new point of contention between the US-Russia faceoff.&nbsp;

It must be noted that the blasts took place inside the exclusive economic zones of Sweden and Denmark.&nbsp;Danish authorities in November said that they gave Nord Stream permission to inspect damage at its Baltic Sea pipelines in Denmark's economic zone.&nbsp;

"Nord Stream AG has been authorised to carry out a marine study in an area located in Denmark's exclusive economic zone", the Danish Geodata Agency had told AFP news agency.&nbsp;

Danish defence department earlier put out images of a 15 inches tall and about 4 inches diameter mysterious object. Danish authorities about two weeks ago said that an unidentified object was found during an inspection close to the Nord Stream 2 pipeline and they were able to retrieve it on Tuesday. Air force commanders from Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark said on Friday (March 25) that they signed a letter of intent to create a unified Nordic air defence aimed at countering the rising threat from Russia. The air force commanders had first discussed the closer cooperation at a meeting in Sweden in November last year.&nbsp;

“The ultimate goal is to be able to operate seamlessly together as one force by developing a Nordic concept for joint air operations based on already known NATO methodology,” Denmark's air force said in a statement.&nbsp;

Speaking to the news agency Reuters, Major General Jan Dam, the commander of the Danish air force, said that the move to integrate the air forces of the Nordic countries was triggered by Russia's offensive in Ukraine in February last year. Major General Dam added that the combined fleet could be compared to a large European country.&nbsp;

Reuters reported on Friday that Sweden has over 90 Gripens jets; Norway has 57 F-16 fighter jets and 37 F-35 fighter jets with 15 more of the latter on order, and Finland has 62 F/A-18 Hornet jets and 64 F-35s on order. Denmark, meanwhile, has 58 F-16s and 27 F-35s on order.&nbsp;

However, it was unclear how many of these aircraft were operational.&nbsp;

The signing at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany last week was attended by NATO's Air Command chief General James Hecker, who also oversees the US Air Force in the region, the news agency reported.&nbsp;

Norway and Denmark are already members of NATO. Finland and Sweden applied to join NATO last year and Finland is expected to join the inter-governmental military alliance within weeks. Sweden, on the other hand, is facing a delay due to resistance from Turkey and Hungary.&nbsp;

Nordic nations plan joint air defence to counter rising threat from Russia

Denmark had an open secret for years. Though first believed to be a baseless rumour, the story of Denmark's brain warehouse came into the limelight. This cellar is containing a collection of nearly 10,000 plastic buckets that each hold a human brain.

Denmark is all set to become the first nation in the world to bury carbon dioxide (CO2) imported from abroad as it has launched a project on Wednesday to store carbon dioxide 1,800 metres beneath the North Sea.

The CO2 will be injected on the site of an exhaustive oil field. Led by British chemical firm Ineos and German oil major Wintershall Dea, the "Greensand" project is projected to store up to eight million tonnes of CO2 per year by 2030.

Project Greensand works to ensure that Denmark can use the storage of CO2 as part of the solution to climate challenges.&nbsp;The project has 23 Danish and international partners who contribute expertise from transport, storage and monitoring of CO2 in the underground.

Denmark to become first nation to import and bury CO2, here's everything about the Greensand project

The Little Mermaid statue, which is one of the most notable landmarks in Copenhagen, Denmark, was vandalised with colours of the Russian flag painted across its base.

On Thursday night, the colours of the Russian flag - white, blue and red - were daubed on the rock on which the heroine's statue from Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale rests.

Copenhagen police stated that they visited the scene and “a case of vandalism” was recorded and now they were making attempts to find “traces” in the area.&nbsp;

The police have started investigating the act of vandalism which is being seen as an expression of support for Russia's war against Ukraine.

The vandalised statue was photographed by a few puzzled tourists on Thursday morning.

The Little Mermaid statue, which has taken inspiration from a character of the same name in the Danish author Hans Christian &nbsp;Andersen’s 1837 fairytale, weighs 175kg (385lb) and has been sculpted by Edvard Eriksen.

According to Andersen's tale, the mermaid, who is the daughter of a mythical sea king, falls in love with a prince and wishes to become human.

The statue, which is kept in Langelinie's relatively secluded harbour in Copenhagen, has been vandalised several times. In 1964, the mermaid’s head was stolen, and her arm was removed in 1984. In 1998, her head was again removed by vandals, but it was returned later, before getting blown off her perch in 2003. &nbsp;

The statue has been painted several times, most recently in 2020, when a mysterious inscription of a “racist fish” was added to it.

Sixty metres under a chalk hillside in the Danish countryside, for the first time curious visitors are being offered tours of the top secret bunker built at the height of the Cold War to shelter Denmark’s monarch and government from nuclear war.

Denmark's foreign minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen has highlighted that India is in a "perfect situation" to bridge the gap between the North and the South. Speaking to our diplomatic correspondent Sidhant Sibal on India's G20 Presidency, Rasmussen praised India's ability to interpret the needs of the poorest countries while also recognizing its development in lifting hundreds of people out of poverty.

The FM is in India as part of the visit of Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik André Henrik Christian and Crown Princess, Mary Elizabeth. The visit of the Royal Couple is the first visit from the Danish Royal family in two decades. The Crown Prince had last visited India in 2003. Earlier Denmark's Queen Margrethe II had visited India in 1963 as Crown Princess.

WION: How do you see the India-Denmark relationship &amp; anything on the extradition of Kim Davy?
Lars Løkke Rasmussen: I see our relations as very good, moving towards excellent, I would say. And of course, there have been issues, but we have solved that. &nbsp;I mean, when I was here in 2019, as Prime Minister, now I am here as Minister of Foreign Affairs, I agree with honourable Prime Minister Modi, that issue you just mentioned shouldn't be something which we should looked as obstacle for further cooperation. So we decided to leave it with the proper authorities, they are dealing with that. And in the meanwhile, we have improved our relationship and the fact that we now in India was our Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Denmark.

WION: How do you see India as Chair of G20 able to resolve the conflict?
Lars Løkke Rasmussen: I want to congratulate India for its G20 presidency, the importance of that. India can be a kind of bridge builder between for instance, Europe, US and the global south. And that goes both ways. I mean, I just had a discussion with your minister of foreign affairs, about for instance, some of the world's financial instruments-- IMF, the World Bank, et cetera, how could we modernize that in order to assist the global south in achieving the goals we have defined at a global level. I think, India is much better to interpret the needs of some of the poorest countries than we are. Then on the other hand, India's development you know, hundreds of people have been out of poverty, you have a growing middle class, you have excellent industry, you are sharp in research and development. &nbsp;So I think India is a perfect situation, to combine voices from the north and from the south.

Thousands of people gathered in Danish capital Copenhagen on Sunday (February 5) to protest against a bill moved by the government to scrap a public holiday. The move is being planned to help finance increased defence spending.

The protests were organised by country's biggest labour unions. These oppose abolishing the Great Prayer Day. It is a Christian holiday that falls on the fourth Friday after Easter. The celebration dates back to 1686.

Unions organising the protest estimated at least 50,000 people took part, which would make it Denmark's biggest demonstration in more than a decade. Local police don't give such crowd estimates.

The holiday abolition was proposed in December to help raise tax revenues for higher defence spending in wake of the Ukraine war, and is part of the newly formed government's sweeping reform programme aimed at overcoming challenges to the country's welfare model.

The government has proposed moving forward by three years to 2030 a goal of meeting a NATO defence spending target of 2% of GDP. It says most of the extra 4.5 billion Danish crowns ($654 million) needed to meet the target could be covered by the higher tax revenues it anticipates from abolishing the holiday.

However, unions, opposition lawmakers and economists have questioned the effect of the proposal. Some economists have said it is unlikely to have long-lasting effects, as workers would find other ways to adjust their working hours.

Thousands of people gathered in the capital Copenhagen to protest against the planned abolition of great prayer day, which is a Christian holiday. Initially introduced as a day of prayer, fasting, and penitence, it falls on the fourth Friday after easter. The government wants to make people work and use the funds to help raise tax revenues for higher defence spending in the wake of the Russia-Ukraine war. The government has proposed moving forward to 2030, a goal set by NATO of raising defence spending to 2% of GDP, instead of 2033 as planned earlier. The move is expected to provide an extra 440 million dollars to state coffers. The cancelled holiday would entail that people would have to work a day extra, for which they will be paid.

Turkiye strongly condemned&nbsp;the burning of Quran&nbsp;and summoned the Danish ambassador to the Turkish Foreign Ministry as it accused Denmark of endorsing a “hate crime” after Rasmus Paludan, a right-wing activist burned copies of the Muslim holy book on Friday (January 27).
This comes after a week the leader of the Danish right-wing political party Stram Kurs or Hard Line who also holds citizenship of Sweden, staged a Quran-burning protest in Sweden.&nbsp;

As per media reports, Paludan, on Friday, burned copies of the Quran near a Copenhagen mosque and outside the Turkish embassy in Denmark. He did something similar on January 21 outside the Turkish embassy in Stockholm, Sweden which drew widespread condemnation and triggered counter-protests in Turkiye. Additionally, he vowed to do so every Friday until Sweden is admitted into NATO which requires Ankara’s approval.

Turkiye has previously blocked Sweden and neighbouring Finland’s bid to join the military alliance that the two countries have sought following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. However, the membership requires approval from all NATO members, including Ankara, which has indicated that it would block Sweden’s bid partially after Paludan’s stunt in Stockholm last week.&nbsp;

The protests in Sweden also led to counter-protests in Istanbul where at least 200 people gathered outside the Swedish consulate in the city and burned Sweden’s flag in response to Paludan’s burning of the Quran.&nbsp;

In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry called the Danish politician an “Islamophobic charlatan” and said, “Showing tolerance towards such heinous acts that offend the sensitivities of millions of people living in Europe threatens the practice of peaceful coexistence and provokes racist, xenophobic and anti-Muslim attacks,”&nbsp;reported Al Jazeera. &nbsp;

Additionally, according to Ankara’s state-run Anadolu Agency, the Danish ambassador was summoned to the Turkish foreign ministry where officials “strongly condemned the permission given for this provocative act which clearly constitutes a hate crime”. The media report also said that the ambassador was also told that “Denmark’s attitude is unacceptable”, as Turkiye expected the permission to be revoked.&nbsp;

According to a report by the&nbsp;Associated Press,&nbsp;Paludan was seen with a protective helmet and surrounded by riot police during the recent protest&nbsp;in Copenhagen which he live-streamed on Facebook and said, “This mosque has no place in Denmark”. Subsequently, Paludan was driven away in a police car.

Later, he said, “Once he (President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan) has let Sweden into NATO, I promise that I will not burn the Quran outside the Turkish Embassy. Otherwise, I will do so every Friday at 2 pm,”&nbsp;reported the AP. Aside from the recent incidents, Ankara has also blocked Finland and Sweden’s bid to join NATO demanding a crackdown on Kurdish armed groups and others that it considers “terrorists”.&nbsp;
