However clarifying the issue, SpiceJet stated, "Due to Bad weather flight was delayed."

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi removed the hurdle of 13 legal procedures by one Cabinet note and gave ownership right to 40 lakh people living in unauthorised colonies of the national capital," said Shah while addressing a gathering.

The Union Cabinet last month approved the Bill to provide a legal framework to grant ownership rights to the people living in unauthorised colonies in the national capital.

"There are 1,731 unauthorised colonies in Delhi where over 40 lakh people are living. These people have been living here for several generations but no previous government thought about them or their welfare," said Shah.

The Union Home Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi cares about those living in these areas.

"Prime Minister Modi said that a lot of poor people have been living in these areas for generations but cannot take loans or have the ownership of their properties, as these colonies are not authorised," said Shah.

The Home Minister also said that 4,526 houses will be provided to the poor people and 2,088 units have been provisioned for the people belonging to the economically weaker sections of the society in the city.

Accusing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of stealing credit for the Central government's developmental works, Shah quipped that Kejriwal might try to take credit for this as well.

The National Capital Territory of Delhi (Recognition of Property Rights of Residents in Unauthorised Colonies) Bill, 2019, was passed by Parliament on December 4.

The new legislation regarding the regularisation of unauthorised colonies recognises and confers rights of ownership or transfer or mortgage to the residents of such colonies on the basis of power of attorney, agreement of sale, will, possession letter, and other documents.&nbsp;

Anti-CAA protests: 8 arrested for violence in Delhi's Seelampur, Zafarabad areas

Three Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses were set on fire near Bharat Nagar area as demonstrations against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the national capital turned violent on Sunday.

Huge plumes of smoke were seen billowing out of the buses as flames engulfed them.

Protestors also vandalised a fire tender that was sent to douse the fire and also injured two firemen inside the vehicle."One fire tender which was rushed to douse bus fire stopped and damaged by the students. Two firemen were also injured," said Delhi Fire Service (DFS), Director, Atul Garg.

Damage to other buses and vehicles was also caused by the protestors.

Police have, meanwhile, taken control of the situation and fire tenders have been rushed to control the damage caused in different areas.

Earlier today, protestors, including students of Jamia Milia Islamia University, had carried out demonstrations in the Kalindi Kunj area against the CAA.

The Delhi Traffic Police had closed the roads on which protests were being held in the national capital and kept on informing the public about the situation on the roads which were blocked by the protestors.

"Traffic movement is closed from Sarita Vihar to Kalindi Kunj due to protest/demonstration at Shaheen Bagh. Traffic is diverted from Sarita Vihar towards Road no 13A and from Apollo to Road no 13," the tweet from the official handle of the Delhi Traffic Police read.

"Mathura Road opposite New Friends Colony both carriageways have been blocked by demonstrators," another tweet by the Traffic Police read.

Earlier, scores of students from the city's Jamia Millia Islamia staged a protest against the amended Citizenship Act on Saturday.

A day earlier on Friday, students protest left as many as 12 policemen injured.According to police, the protestors pelted stones at policemen who were deployed to control the situation.

"However, it needs to reduce more," he said. Kejriwal stressed on the need to check on local sources of pollution. "Delhi has local sources of pollution. We are worried about people's health. Stubble burning mostly starts from October 15 and we have no control over it," he said.

He said that state and Central governments&nbsp;are yet to fully know about the sources of pollution. "Nobody knows what (source) the problem is-- neither the state nor the Centre," he added.

The Delhi government has recently launched a project called Real-time source apportionment jointly with the Department of Energy, Environment and Chemical Engineering, University of Washington to study the sources of pollution in Delhi.

A laboratory will set for this purpose which would give real-time data every four hours throughout the day from April 1, 2020.&nbsp;

Usha Bhardwaj and her family were waiting for the next train in desperation when in the midst of the chaos a passenger got violent. It was the Mandi House metro station- one of the busiest in Delhi. Not many paid heed to the commotion. Finally, Bhardwaj's father intervened to pacify the situation. Her family boarded the train but one of her brothers was almost left behind at the platform in the disarray.

In a striking symbolism, Bhardwaj's family was not actually present at the station yet her story was unfolding in front of the commuters through an exhibition put up by non-for-profit '1947 Partition Archive'.

The organisers say that the exhibition draws parallels between a metro and a railway station since millions of people mainly used trains as the mode of transportation during the Partition. 
 
Bhardwaj is among the nine women whose photos replete with texts give the first-hand accounts of Partition.

Women were among the worst victims of the Partition violence and the tales which are from both sides of the border are testimonies of an atmosphere of chaos.

While Narinder Kaur recalls how her neighbour had killed his daughters over fears that they will be raped or murdered on their way to the border, Hamida Bano Begum has horrific memories of seeing dead bodies of five men hung from a tree.

Dinesh Kumar was among those intrigued by the black and white photos that have been displayed on the walls of the metro station.

He hailed the initiative saying that "Partition should be remembered as that is how the history of independent India began".

But the 'Women during Partition' was not the only display catching the attention of the passengers.

Another part of the exhibition called 'My Heart Belongs in Delhi' tells the stories of people who migrated to and from Delhi during Partition.

Abdus Salam who migrated to Multan in Pakistan remembers running a bookshop founded by his father in Old Delhi's Daryaganj.

A young commuter Osama Khan could relate to Salam as he works in Daryaganj but it was Major General (Retd) Mohinder Singh Chadha's story that struck him the most.

The exhibition has a photo of him receiving a gallantry award. On the right side of the picture, is the Major General's testimony of tracking down his family in Ludhiana after Partition.

"His story shows that one can succeed in life despite facing struggles," said Khan.

Delhi Metro station brings alive memories of partition

An extraordinarily large kidney weighing about 7.5 kgs was removed from a 56-year old patient in New Delhi on Monday.&nbsp;

The patient was suffering from Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease, where cysts form on the organ and cause it to enlarge.&nbsp;

The patient complained of flank pain, senior Urology Consultant Sachin Kathuria said. He added that the patient had a huge mass on the left side of his abdomen, which was later found that he had had haemorrhage in his kidney and his counts were high.&nbsp;

We tried managing him consequently but his health&nbsp;continued to deteriorate so we took a combined decision along with the team of nephrologists that we'll go ahead and remove the kidney," Kathuria said. The operation was performed at the&nbsp;Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi.&nbsp;

Reports claimed that the doctors performed a two-hour surgery after which the kidney measuring 32 x 21.8 centimetres was removed. The patient was later discharged and is currently on dialysis.&nbsp;

"This patient was unique because when we removed the kidney we didn't even realise that it was as huge as this much," the doctor added. &nbsp;&nbsp;

As per reports, in medical history, only in two cases, kidneys larger than that in this case had&nbsp;been removed: one weighing 9 kg in the United States and an 8.87 kg kidney that was removed in the Netherlands.&nbsp;

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday protested in front of the Gandhi statue in the Parliament, demanding to bring a bill on the unauthorised colonies in this <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/amit-shah-to-speak-in-rajya-sabha-today-263306">winter session</a>.

As per the odd-even rules, cars with even and odd registration numbers are allowed to run in the streets of Delhi on alternate days. Two-wheelers and women-only vehicles with children upto 12 years of age are exempted from this scheme. &nbsp;

The practice of stubble burning where farmers set residue on fire after harvesting is one of the prime contributors to pollution. Various packages to farmers are also announced in order to stop stubble burning. The relief from farm fires is expected to come by the end of November as wheat sowing has already covered nearly 60 per cent.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday announced that Delhi Government will sponsor senior citizens'&nbsp;pilgrimage to Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib at Rakabganj Gurudwara.

On the auspicious day of Guru Nanak Dev's 550th birthday celebrations, Kejriwal paid his obeisance at the Rakabganj Sahib Gurdwara and stated that the government will be bearing all the fees that need to be paid to visit Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib.

"Guru Nanak Dev taught us about humanity and never segregated on the lines of caste. He taught us to follow the path of righteousness and truth. We need to follow his teachings. The Delhi government has decided to sponsor senior citizens'&nbsp;trip to Kartarpur Sahib", he said while addressing the crowd at Rakabganj Gurudwara.

Yog guru Ramdev, Shiromani Akali Dal MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and others also visited Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib today.In his address Ramdev said, "Guru Nanak Dev represented Indian cultural and heritage and his message spread far and wide when even there weren't enough resources for propagating one's message. He is not limited to only Sikhism and is revered by devotees from all sects and religions".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the Central government will diligently complete the work of transferring ownership rights to the 40 lakh people living in unauthorised colonies in the national capital.

"The government will complete the work with utmost responsibility," Modi said addressing a gathering of BJP leaders along with Resident Welfare Association (RWA) officeholders and members of unauthorised colonies.

The group had arrived to meet PM Narendra Modi at his residence to thank him for the Cabinet`s decision to give ownership rights to 40 lakh people living in unauthorised colonies in Delhi.

On October 23, the Union Cabinet announced that it had approved regulations for conferring and recognising ownership rights to residents of unauthorised colonies, which would benefit 40 lakh residents of the national capital.

The Cabinet also gave its approval to bringing a Bill in the next session of Parliament to implement the proposal.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, announcing the move, said that the decision will benefit more than 40 lakh residents of unauthorised colonies spread over around 175 sq km as development and redevelopment can now take place in these colonies resulting in a clean, secure and healthy living environment.

The decision is applicable to 1,797 identified unauthorised colonies that are inhabited by lower-income groups and does not apply to 69 affluent colonies identified by DDA including Sainik Farms, Mahendru Enclave and Anant Ram Dairy.&nbsp;
