<p>The Rajasthan government had earlier formed a panel to watch the Deepika Padukone-Shahid Kapoor-Ranveer Singh starrer.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Rajasthan government had said state Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria would head the panel.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed movie is about Padmavati, the erstwhile queen of Chittor.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Rajput groups in Rajasthan have been protesting against the release of the film saying it might dishonour the community.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Their most strident objections have been to a reported &quot;dream sequence&quot; between Deepika Padukone (playing Padmavati) and Ranveer Singh (playing Allaudin Khilji).&nbsp;</p>

<p>Historians however say it is possible that Padmavati never existed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The first mention of her is found in the 16th-century poem Padmavat by Malik Muhammad Jayasi -- while Padmavati was said to have lived in the 14th century.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It didn&#39;t matter to these people that in a free country, the actress had the right to be drunk and pose with whoever she wanted to at her own party. She did not break a law, neither were the images unpleasant to the eyes- yet some people felt it was their duty to comment on her photos. Similarly, Milind Soman posted a happy photo on his birthday for his fans. Nowhere in the caption did it say, that he needed people&#39;s opinion on what they felt about him and his girlfriend. That a lot of us draw a great amount of satisfaction in maligning others in the garb of anonymity. That as a race, we are lonely, frustrated and crave for attention. Because as they, like many other celebrities open up about their lives and their work - they not only get a lot of love and adulation but also a lot of unnecessary opinions that perhaps they can do without. On his 52nd birthday, Milind Soman posted a selfie with his 23-year-old girlfriend Ankita Konwar. While most showered the couple with love and wishes, there were some who questioned the couple's massive age gap and mocked the pair. <p>10 years after Imitiaz Ali created the cult romance <em>Jab We Met</em>, the director is all set to recreate a similar magic with the film&#39;s leading man, Shahid Kapoor. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Kapoor and Ali, who last worked in <em>Jab We Met</em>, will soon start working on their new film.</p>

<p>The film is scheduled to go on floor early next year and at the moment the makers are looking for a leading lady. &quot;The film kicks off in Mumbai in April and will be followed by an extensive shoot, both in India and abroad,&quot; a source told the daily.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The filmmaker had recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of the cult film with fans and shared anecdotes around the film. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film "Padmavati" is once again at the centre of controversy after the star of the movie Deepika Padukone tweeted pictures of the rangoli(colour decoration) being vandalised in Surat. This is not the first time Bhansali's film "Padmavati" is being targeted. In March, unidentified persons had vandalised the movie's set in Kolhapur district in Maharashtra and also torched the costumes and the animal feed kept there. In January, some members of a Rajput community group, Karni Sena, had assaulted Bhansali in Jaipur for allegedly presenting "distorted facts" in "Padmavati". <p>The actor also said, &#39;Policymakers and people at workplaces need to recognise and normalise depression so that those suffering from such mental illnesses could come out and confide without the fear of losing their jobs.&#39;</p>

<p>Adding to the topic she said that she didn&#39;t think about the repercussions when she decided to go public with her depression battle, her idea was to change the way people in India and in world see mental illness.</p>

Forbes released its annual list of Hollywood's highest-paid actresses on Wednesday and Oscar-winning actress of "La La Land" fame, Emma Stone landed at the top of the list earning $26 million. Emma Stone had not made it to the list in 2016 and for her to be on the top of the list, is good news for all aspiring actresses. Stone became No-1 after Jennifer Lawrence who was consecutively at the top for last two years fell to No -3. The number- 2 spot was taken on by the former 'Friends' star Jennifer Aniston, who like every year continues to bring in a lot of moolah owning to movies and majorly by endorsements. <p>The wording of the Fed&#39;s policy statement strengthens the prospect of two more increases in the benchmark lending rate this year, boosting the dollar against the euro and other major currencies.</p>

<p>Global equity markets were mixed. The Dow finished slightly higher, while the S&amp;P 500 and Nasdaq both fell modestly. Frankfurt rose modestly, while London and Paris dipped.</p>

<p>The Fed gave a generally upbeat outlook on the US economy, saying that some weak data in the first quarter were &quot;likely to be transitory&quot; and predicting that economic activity would expand &quot;at a moderate pace.&quot;</p>

<p>Several analysts said the statement clears the way for the US central bank to lift rates next month, although that partly depends on US data. A key release comes Friday with issuing of the US jobs report for April.</p>

<p>&quot;Given the tone of the statement, we believe the bar for inaction in June is high,&quot; a note from Barclays said. &quot;The committee seems eager to look through any weakness and has, at long last, reached a consensus, in our view, that a gradual pace of rate hikes this year is warranted.&quot;</p>

<p>Bollywood rallied behind director Sanjay Leela Bhansali who was attacked by members of a fringe group, the Rajput Karni Sena, while shooting his upcoming historical drama &quot;Padmavati&quot; in Jaipur yesterday (January 27).</p>

<p>The filmmaker, has meanwhile, reportedly cancelled the shooting in Jaipur.</p>

<strong>Fringe group defends itself</strong></p>

<p>The Rajput Karni Sena is objecting to an alleged dream sequence between Padmavati and Alaudin Khilji. Its members went on a rampage during filming at Jaipur&#39;s Nahargarh Fort on Friday, and allegedly attacked Bhansali and destroyed film equipment.</p>

<p>They claim that the director is distorting facts and depicting Padmavati&#39;s character in a poor light. They also blamed the filmmaker&#39;s security personnel for the commotion, alleging that they had fired bullets in the air.</p>

<p>&quot;He (Bhansali) is distorting history and we will not allow them to do so. In no book is it written that Alauddin Khilji fell in love with Padmavati or he was her lover,&quot; &nbsp;Lokendra Singh Kalvi, a senior leader of Karni Sena told the press in Jaipur on Saturday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&quot;This film should not be made. We wrote a number of times to Bhansali asking him to present history in the right manner. But he did not listen to us.&quot;&nbsp;</p>

<p>We had gone to talk to them but bullets were fired in the air which provoked the members. It was me who tried to stop the members from assaulting Bhansali,&quot; Mahipal Singh, the state chief of the group said.</p>

<p>The Film &amp; Television Producers Guild of India today (January 28) urged the government to take strong punitive action against the miscreants, saying that the film industry had become a soft target by fringe groups.</p>

<p>&quot;As President of The Film &amp; Television Producers Guild of India and speaking on behalf of the entire film industry, I strongly condemn the acts of vandalism on the sets of &#39;Padmavati&#39; as a direct attack on freedom of expression in our democracy,&quot; the film guild&#39;s president Siddharth Roy Kapur said.</p>

<p>The Guild pointed out that this is not the first time that fringe elements have &quot;unilaterally taken the law into their own hands to disrupt shoots/film releases and cause tremendous financial losses to film producers.&quot;</p>

<p>&quot;It is a glaring paradox that on the one hand the Central Government, various State Governments along with the film fraternity has been leaving no stone unturned to universally project India as an attractive shooting locale and on the other such hands miscreants are resorting to hooliganism of the worst order to defeat the `Shoot in India` endeavor,&quot; the film body said in a statement.</p>

<p>The Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed historical magnum opus &quot;Jodhaa Akbar&quot; &nbsp;was also not permitted to release in Rajasthan by the same group despite censor certification, the guild said in a statement.</p>
