When the U.K.’s Royal Mint went orbital with a special coin of the late David Bowie, the fans rejoiced with a little part of 'Starman' sent above. Earlier, the Mint pressed and released the collectables which celebrate different stages in Bowie’s career, with each featuring the lightning bolt motif from the Aladdin Sane era. As per the statement from the Royal Mint reads, “There are several versions including limited edition gold coins, with prices ranging from £13 to £2,425, a fitting tribute to the career of one of British music’s most enduring icons,” David Bowie biopic 'Stardust' to release in the UK this year The voyage itself was a fitting one, for an artist who was fascinated with space and gave the music world “Starman,” “Space Oddity” and starred as the alien in ‘The Man Who Fell to Earth’. According to the BBC, the one-ounce silver proof coin made a 45 minutes trip by balloon to the edge of space before safely returning to the earth. It’s to be offered as a competition prize on the Royal Mint’s Facebook page. Bowie died in 2016, following a battle with cancer. He was 69. His last album, Blackstar, released just days prior to his passing, gave Bowie a posthumous No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, won Grammys and Brit Awards, and is widely regarded as one of his finest works. Bowie is the third to feature in the Royal Mint’s “Music Legends” collection following Queen and Elton John, both issued earlier in 2020.

Matthew Seligman was 64-years-old when he died after spending two weeks on a ventilator at St George’s hospital in Tooting, south London.

It is understood that Matthew could have contracted on a visit to his brother Simon, who was himself in and out of hospital over the preceding six months and had recently died from causes unrelated to coronavirus.

Matthew Seligman played in post-punk psychedelic band the Soft Boys, fronted by Robyn Hitchcock, after graduating from Cambridge University, and enjoyed short stints in the Thompson Twins and in Thomas Dolby’s band.

He became a successful session musician who played with Bowie on the Absolute Beginners single and at the Live Aid concert in 1985 – as well as with solo artists such as Sinéad O’Connor and Morrissey.

The sombre musical is inspired by Walter Trevis&#39;s 1963 science fiction novel, &quot;The Man Who Fell To Earth&quot;, which was turned into a 1976 film featuring Bowie in the lead role.

&quot;Lazarus&quot; recounts the tormented life of Thomas Newton, an alien in the guise of a human who finds himself on Earth and incapable of dying. He lives with just a television and a bottle of gin for company --- until the arrival of &quot;another lost soul&quot; who could set him free, that is.

&quot;With &#39;Lazarus&#39;, it is quite clear to me that Bowie deliberately placed his own death on stage,&quot; said the musical&#39;s Belgian director, Ivo van Hove, following Bowie&#39;s passing.

The auctioneer was forced to abandon plans to sell Houston&#39;s Emmy as part of a separate auction of her dresses and other belongings after the US Television Academy argued it owned the rights to the statuette.
