Lars von Trier, who was declared a "persona non grata" seven years ago at the Cannes Film Festival, is making a comeback to cinema extravaganza with his film "The House That Jack Built". 
 
The news was shared by festival organisers in a press statement. 
 
The release also said that Terry Gilliam's "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote", starring Adam Driver, Jonathan Pryce and Olga Kurylenko, will close this year's festival as another out-of-competition title. 
 
"The House That Jack Built" stars Matt Dillon, Riley Keough, Bruno Ganz and Uma Thurman. The film is set in Washington State and covers the life and crimes of a serial killer over a 12-year period. 
 
Von Trier, who used to be a regular at the festival, was declared unwelcome at the festival following his controversial comments about Hitler during the 2011 press conference of "Melancholia". 
 
The festival's artistic director Thierry Fremaux recently confirmed von Triers return during an interview with French radio station Europe 1. 
 
Fremaux had said Cannes President Pierre Lesucure has really worked over the past few days to "remove this persona non grata" status which von Trier received seven years ago, "thinking that its maybe time to give him a spot again as a filmmaker". 
 
Von Trier has a long history with the festival, which is known for its fondness for auteurs. He won the Palme d'Or in 2011 for "Dancer In The Dark". 
 
The film's star, Icelandic singer Bjork, had recently accused that an unnamed Danish director had sexually harassed her but von Trier denied his involvement. 
 
Fremaux also confirmed that Cannes competition regular Andrey Zvyagintsev will be a part of the jury headed by Cate Blanchett.&nbsp;The festival will run from May 8 to May 19.&nbsp;

The film, which stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the title role, is Das' second directorial effort after Firaaq&nbsp;in 2008.

"Having been on the jury twice, and an audience at Cannes many a time, I have to say, it is truly a haven for film lovers. I look forward to seeing how the audience there reacts to this film that I have lived with for almost 7 years. For me, this film and everything else that I do, will always remain a means to trigger conversations, a small step towards "the world we want to see". 
 
The director said she will give finishing touches to the film before it heads to the festival. 
 
Das had unveiled the first look of the film at Cannes last May with stars Siddiqui and Rasika Dugal. 
 
Manto, best known for his stories on Partition, was born on May 11, 1912 and migrated to Pakistan after 1947 and died at the age of 55 on January 18, 1955.

Netflix Inc&nbsp;said on Wednesday it was totally pulling out of the Cannes Film Festival next month after organizers banned the streaming platform`s films from competition for its refusal to release them in cinemas.Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos told Hollywood trade publication Variety in an interview it was pointless to show at Cannes after the festival rule change. 
 
Cannes festival director Thierry Fremaux said last month that Netflix had refused to give its movies theatrical distribution in France and would, therefore, be banned from competition at the 12-day festival. However, Thierry said Netflix could show movies outside competition.

Netflix plans to release 80 original films in 2018 to its 109 million streaming customers around the world. 
 
The company has released a few films, like fantasy thriller 'Bright,' starring Will Smith, in a small number of theatres.
