<p>He added, "Through which a man named Om Prakash Mishra created a fake e-mail ID named Hamza Afridi from Mumbai and threatened to locate Singapore through VPN."</p>

<p>New Zealand abandoned the series citing a government "security alert" on the day when the first match of the tour was supposed to begin. <p>It is important to note here that international cricket in Pakistan was suspended in the aftermath of terror attacks against the Sri Lankan side in 2009, but has slowly revived over the past two years.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, following an escalation in the New Zealand Government threat levels for Pakistan, officials decided to cancel the tour and mentioned that arrangements were being made for the team's departure.&nbsp;</p>

<p>New Zealand cricket did not comment on the details of the security threat nor the updated arrangements for the departing squad.&nbsp;</p>

<p>New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern also commented on the cancellation as she said that she supports the decision that's been made and added that player safety has to be paramount.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"When I spoke with the Prime Minister of Pakistan I conveyed our thanks for taking care of the New Zealand Cricket team," Ardern said in a statement sent to Reuters.</p>

<p>"I know how disappointing it will be for everyone that the game hasn't gone ahead, but we totally support the decision that’s been made. Player safety has to be paramount."</p>

<p>NZC chief executive David White said it was simply not possible to continue with the tour given the advice he was receiving.</p>

<p>"I understand this will be a blow for the PCB, who have been wonderful hosts, but player safety is paramount and we believe this is the only responsible option."</p>

<p>After the cancellation, PCB wrote in a statement: "Earlier today, the New Zealand cricket board informed us that they had been alerted to some security alert and have unilaterally decided to postpone the series. PCB and Govt of Pakistan made fool proof security arrangements for all visiting teams."</p>

Arrangements are now being made for the team's departure," the New Zealand cricket team wrote in a statement.
