A video shared on the Telegram messaging app showed a column of smoke billowing from a fire before a powerful explosion sent flames shooting out. Another video showed debris flying through the sky in long arcs as the fire raged.&nbsp;

The defence ministry said that a fire had broken out at the Jambyl ammunitions depot and "quickly spread to storage facilities where engineering ammunition is stored."

Several explosions followed, the defence ministry said.

"The explosions stopped over time, but the fire continues," the statement added.&nbsp;

Regular incidents at Kazakhstan's Soviet-era military depots have proved a headache for the government in recent years, with another depot near the southern town of Arys seeing three lethal explosions take place in the last decade.

The defence ministry noted that some of the munitions stored at the Soviet-era depot in Jambyl had been transferred from the facility in Arys, where there have been calls to resettle the town's entire population of 45,000.

The emergencies ministry said that the scattering radius of the fragments was up to two kilometres (1.25 miles).&nbsp;

The defence ministry said that two of the men who died were part of a fire brigade at the base who were attempting to put out the blaze, while a third was guarding the depot at the time of the explosions.&nbsp;

Defence Minister Nurlan Ermekbayev said Friday that he would leave his post over the incident if President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev accepted his resignation.

The Jambyl regional government said that of more than 80 who received treatment for injuries, 28 remained in hospital with six in serious condition.

But "their lives are not in danger," the statement said.

On Thursday, President Tokayev had said on Twitter that the injured were soldiers and emergency services workers.

Local authorities said more than 80 children were among those evacuated from nearby villages following the incident. Around 1,200 people were taken to schools in Taraz, a city of over 300,000 people, which is about 30 kilometres (19 miles) from the facility.&nbsp;

A government commission has been set up to establish the cause of the fire, while Ermekbayev said arson was being considered as a potential trigger for the blaze.&nbsp;

The attack in restive Zabul province killed at least 11 people left another 28 people wounded just hours before the Taliban announced a three-day ceasefire to mark this week's Eid al-Fitr holiday.

In another incident, two civilians were killed and nine more were wounded in a roadside bomb blast that targeted a bus in the Pul-e-Matak area in Parwan province.

Two separate roadside bomb blasts kill13 civilians in Afghanistan

The death toll from multiple explosions outside a girls' school in Afghanistan's capital Kabul has risen to 168. A series of blasts shook the neighbourhood of Dasht-e-Barchi, home to a large community of Shi'ites from the Hazara ethnic minority on Saturday.

US media reports said a 63-year-old "person of interest" was identified in connection with the explosion, which came from a parked motorhome that blared a warning minutes before it blew up.

At a separate press conference, authorities on Saturday declined to name a person of interest in connection with the explosion, but CBS News reported that the investigation has honed in on 63-year-old Anthony Quinn Warner, who recently lived at the Bakertown address.&nbsp;

According to a document posted online, on November 25 he signed over the property to a woman in Los Angeles at no cost to her. The document was signed by Warner, but not by the woman.

Other media reports said neighbours had previously spotted a motorhome outside the residence that was being searched Saturday by authorities, and that it appeared to be similar to the one that exploded in Nashville.

The investigation included some 250 FBI agents, analysts and other staff.

The governor toured the site on Saturday and said he had asked President Donald Trump to declare a state of emergency, a technical move that triggers federal assistance in repairing damage.

According to a timeline provided by the authorities, police were called to the area to respond to gunfire at 5:30 am, and officers spotted the motorhome at 6:00 am.

Fifteen minutes later, they heard an audio countdown coming from the vehicle warning of a bomb -- interspersed with music -- and the need to evacuate.

Police have not said if anyone was inside the motorhome at the time, but lauded the officers who arrived at the scene and took quick action.

A total of 41 businesses were damaged, Mayor John Cooper said.

Adding to the cryptic nature of Friday's incident was the eerie preamble described by witnesses - a crackle of gunfire followed an apparently computer-generated female voice from the RV reciting a minute-by-minute countdown to an impending bomb blast.

Police scrambled to evacuate nearby homes and buildings and called for a bomb squad, which was still en route to the scene when the RV blew up just outside an AT&amp;T Inc office building where it had been parked.

The explosion occurred about two blocks from Lower Broadway, where some of Nashville's famous live music venues are located. The Ryman Auditorium, former home of the Grand Ole Opry and just three blocks from the blast scene, was undamaged. The Gaylord Opryland and current Grand Ole Opry complexes, which sit outside the downtown area, were not impacted.

The motorhome was parked in front of a building for phone company AT&amp;T, causing damage that disrupted telecommunications service in Tennessee as well as parts of Mississippi, Kentucky, Alabama and Georgia.

AT&amp;T's efforts to restore services overnight were waylaid when a fire reignited at the company's downtown office at the site of the blast, but the company said in a statement on Saturday it was deploying portable cell sites to downtown Nashville and across the region.

Nashville bomb probe leads US investigators to 500 leads, suicide bombing suspected

At least 15 children have been killed&nbsp;in a motorbike bomb blast in east Afghanistan on Friday, officials confirmed.&nbsp;

The motorbike was loaded with explosives and was parked near a house in Agho Jan village in Gelan district where several people came to attend a Quran recitation ceremony, the Interior Affairs Ministry's spokesman Tariq Arian was quoted as saying by TOLO News.&nbsp;

Later, provincial governor's spokesman Waheedullah Jumazada said that at least 15&nbsp;people have lost their lives in the blast as reported by news agency AFP.&nbsp;

"Unfortunately, as a result of this incident 15 people, all children, were martyred," he said.

Afghan police also confirmed the death toll of children and said that 20 others have been wounded.

The bomb blast occurred in Turi Bazar in the city of Parachinar when the explosives went off as people were busy buying groceries and vegetables.

Parachinar District Superintendent of Police Najab Ali said the cause of the explosion was an improvised explosive device (IED) that was fitted inside a vegetable cart.

The injured were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital.
