<p>Sonali Bendre, who has been diagnosed with a rare cancer, has opened up about the ordeals that she has undergone while being treated for the disease. The actor has undergone many painful chemotherapy sessions. &nbsp;She has expressed her fears and agony in her recent Instagram post.</p>

<p>In her post, Bendre quoted Cheryl Strayed from Wild and speaks about the 'bad days'. Bendre muses that how it is important to remember the bad days post chemo sessions and it is not important to be cheerful all the time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Despite such a painful and overwhelming journey, Sonali leaves an inspirational message for all of us.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She tells us how important it is to feel all the emotions of life, and never let us betray ourselves by turning hypocrites and smile through hardships even if we don't want to.</p>

<p>Her post on Instagram renders a message to her followers to cry and feel the pain for a while but only loving and caring ourselves can heal us towards the end.</p>

<p>"I allowed myself to cry, to feel the pain, to indulge in self-pity… for a short while. Only you know what you’re going through and it is fine to accept it. Emotions aren’t wrong. Feeling negative emotions isn’t wrong. But after a point, identify it, recognize it and refuse to let it control your life," posted Sonali on Instagram."<br />

The bad days have been many… Post chemo, post-surgery and the like… where even just laughing hurts. Sometimes it felt like it took everything I’ve had to push past it… a minute to minute battle with myself. I got through it knowing that even though I was fighting a long drawn out, draining battle… it was one that was worth the fight. It’s important to remember that we’re allowed to have those bad days. Forcing yourself to be happy and cheerful all the time serves no purpose. Who are we being fake and putting on an act for? I allowed myself to cry, to feel the pain, to indulge in self-pity… for a short while. Only you know what you’re going through and it is fine to accept it. Emotions aren’t wrong. Feeling negative emotions isn’t wrong. But after a point, identify it, recognize it and refuse to let it control your life. It takes an immense amount of self-care to get out of that zone. <p>#MeToo campaign started in Hollywood last year. It commenced when The New York Times and The New Yorker published stories of sexual abuse and assault against women by those in power including&nbsp;movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.</p>

This is a reflection of the changing times in cinema industry worldwide. Stories that uphold a mirror to socio-political realities in India and that defy stereotypes of caste, class and gender are being made, accepted and appreciated. Women in films are making space to be heard both on and off-screen. The award is to appreciate, celebrate and support stories and people in the industry challenging the status quo. The shortlisted films are in different Indian languages--- Kannada, Marathi, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali and each film has an arresting narrative. It gives us great joy that last year's winner 'Village Rockstars' is this year India’s entry for the Oscars."</p>

<p>'Namaste England' actress Parineeti Chopra has spoken in support of Tanushree Dutta in the wake of the controversy surrounding her and Nana Patekar.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Parineeti spoke about women security and how urged women to speak up. "Honestly I really hope this is not the start of a #MeToo movement, because it would mean there are several such stories and I hope this is the first and the last story. If there are victims, especially women in the industry, actresses who have faced this, I want every woman to come out and speak. If they don't speak now, they will forever be suppressed. Personally, I've never gone through such an experience, if God forbid this happened with me I would have never kept quiet," she further added.</p>

<p>The star said that it's vital for women to feel secure in the industry.</p>

<p>&nbsp;"Keeping quiet is not the solution ever. This is something very serious which has happened to someone if it has happened. I'm not taking sides because I wasn't there. If it has happened, it's the worst thing that can happen to a woman", said Parineeti.</p>

<p>Arjun Kapoor, co-star of Parineeti in 'Namaste England' said that it was extremely important for people not to pass judgments but simply hear the actor's side.</p>

<p>&nbsp;"I have two sisters in this industry and two others working elsewhere. I hope every woman feels safe...This happens everywhere, it's the reality but one person gathered courage and decided to speak up. We need to understand that it's important to listen first."</p>

<p>&nbsp;"Problem is we start chaos and don't listen. That girl has spoken about something that's so dreaded... She deserves to be heard, before hurling judgments, taking sides, pointing fingers or asking if this will be a movement. You have to understand it first", said the actor.</p>

<p>He also said one must look at this situation accurately. "We are processing it now that this has happened... This issue happens across. We all need to introspect right now. We need to listen, understand, and make sure if there are more such stories, they should come out. Let's not make noise for the wrong reasons," he added.</p>

"I have two sisters in this industry and two others working elsewhere. "Problem is we start chaos and don't listen. That girl has spoken about something that's so dreaded... She deserves to be heard, before hurling judgments, taking sides, pointing fingers or asking if this will be a movement. You have to understand it first", said the actor. He also said one must look at this situation accurately. "We are processing it now that this has happened... This issue happens across. We all need to introspect right now. We need to listen, understand, and make sure if there are more such stories, they should come out. Let's not make noise for the wrong reasons," he added. <p>We are quick to point fingers at others when things go wrong. The recent allegation made by actress Tanushree Dutta on veteran actor Nana Patekar of sexual harassment has not just opened a can of worms in Bollywood but also got everyone divided. While most of Bollywood is being criticised (and rightly so) for not taking a stand and maintaining a stoic silence over a matter that needs urgent attention, there is also a certain section which has been constantly doubting Tanushree Dutta’s intent tagging the entire episode as a publicity stunt.</p>

<p>The incident happened ten years back on the sets of ‘Horn Ok Pleasss’ – a film that had Patekar playing a lead role while Dutta was signed in for a special number. Dutta states that it was supposed to be a solo number and she had rehearsed for different steps prior to the actual day of the shoot. On the day of the shoot, Nana Patekar insisted on joining and suggested steps to her which made her uncomfortable. As she stormed out of the set and locked herself in the vanity van, Tanushree alleges that the producer, the actor and the director called goons from MNS to vandalize her car as she tried to leave the set with her parents.</p>

<p>10 years on, as Tanushree brought up the topic in context to the global #MeToo movement in a recent TV interview. Bollywood, in its true fashion, has decided to remain mum. Some of the prominent names of the film industry like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan have evaded commenting on the issue. There are others like Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor who have come out in support of the actress and emphasised the importance to listen to her instead of questioning her intentions. And while Bollywood remains divided, the reactions from the common man have just highlighted the way our society functions.<br />

Is it right to hold only the film industry accountable? Cases of sexual intimidation and harassment are not new to us. Neither is it just restricted to Bollywood. It is prevalent in workplaces and even homes. And it has always made us uncomfortable. Haven’t we all heard some serious cases of harassment and then brushed it under the carpet? So many such cases are never reported because of the fear of unpleasantness that comes along with it. So many times the victim is made to feel ashamed, questioned and cross-examined to an extent that he or she feels guilty and at fault.</p>

<p>I have heard of women leaving their secured job because of sexual intimidation from male colleagues. In most cases, they had complained to the HR but the company failed to take appropriate action and eventually it aggravated the problem making it difficult for them to work. In these cases, the companies failed the women.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Then there are horrid stories of abuse within families where a cousin or a relative would have made advances or even worse sexually exploited a child at a young age. In such cases, neither is the relative ostracised nor the victim. The victim is forced to co-exist with her offender. How are these cases any different from what Bollywood did to Tanushree?</p>

<p>We are all culprits and as a society, we all need to grow a spine.&nbsp;</p>

Laughing it off is perhaps the best way to evade the unpleasant question.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The fact that a young budding star with an abysmal body of work complained about an established National Award-winning actor also did not help the case. Tanushree Dutta was best known for her raunchy roles in films like 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne' and 'Chocolate'- and had dared to take on an actor of Nana Patekar's stature- who has had a shining career in films for over two decades and spotless track record. It was easy to believe the man and not the girl - because she could be doing this for 'publicity'. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Outside of Bollywood too, men, especially those in power yield an unspoken tyrannical rule over others making their mistakes blur. The film industry is no different. Here misogyny is at its peak. What Tanushree went through is not new, scores of women, with aspirations in their heart, come to Bollywood to become a part of the glamour world and so many of them have to retract after going through similar experiences.&nbsp;</p>

None of the men had a difficult time. Their ego had won! The men got all the support that any industry ( not just the film industry) gives to powerful men. <p>Would Tanushree Dutta's case gain this big a momentum if Farhan Akhtar and other prominent celebrities hadn't tweeted in her support? I doubt most of the media houses would pick up the story had journalist Janice Sequeira not corroborated Tanushree's story.&nbsp;</p>

<p>We all, media included, pay attention to those in power. It is human nature to listen to the people who have substantial influence over the society. We always tend to overlook those who may not be that influential or who do not have a say in things or perhaps do not enjoy the financial backing.</p>

Indian movies are all about 'hips and boobs:' Priyanka Chopra

<p>After the controversy&nbsp;over "Quantico"&nbsp;episode which featured "Indian nationalists" in a terror plot,&nbsp;ABC said it pulled the episode before it could air in India.</p>

<p>The episode aired in the US&nbsp;on June 1.</p>

<p>The Quantico episode received severe backlash in India and on social media even as the producers of the show apologized&nbsp;saying&nbsp;Priyanka Chopra wasn't involved&nbsp;in creating the show.</p>

<p>The network apologized to Indian fans of the show.</p>

<p>“ABC Studios and the executive producers of Quantico would like to extend an apology to our audience who were offended by the most recent episode, ‘The Blood of Romeo,’ ” the network said in a statement.</p>

<p>“The episode has stirred a lot of emotion, much of which is unfairly aimed at Priyanka Chopra, who didn’t create the show, nor does she write or direct it. She has no involvement in the casting of the show or the storylines depicted in the series.''</p>

<p>Priyanka Chopra has also&nbsp;been the subject of online attacks with calls to boycott her work and the brands she endorses.</p>

<p>"I love reading. It is my passion, hobby, and meditation. I believe a good script should be like one of those books that you read till 4 am and you know you have to get up at 7 am and go to work. It is a book that is unputdownable."And the character should be like that you build and make something amazing out of it. I don't think whether I am the main lead or have enough to do in the film or not, whether it's two scenes or half a scene to do, it should be of a kind that leaves a strong impact," Kajol said during a promotional event of "Incredibles 2".</p>
