Trump travelled to Kenosha, Wisconsin without paying heed to several Democratic leaders who had urged the President not to visit the city while the city was observing protests after an African-American man Jacob Blake was shot seven times at point blank range in the back by the local police.

According to press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, "currently the plans are to meet with local law enforcement and some business owners and he'll survey the damage."

However, the President completely ignored the grieving family and did not pay the family a visit. McEnany, on being questioned about this, said, "The president wants to visit hurting Americans."

"No, because that -- Kenosha is something we did a good job on," Trump said when asked if he even considered the requests. "But I have to see the people that did such a good job for me and we are meeting with numerous people and we have tremendous support in the state of Wisconsin so I promise them when it all gets taken care of, we'll go."

The reason the visit was being objected to was that the local leaders and authorities felt his presence in the city could fuel violence and increase the tensions in the already-burning city. However, Trump said,&nbsp;"It will also increase enthusiasm and it could increase love and respect for our country, and that's why I am going because they did a fantastic job."

When asked why Trump has not reached out to the Blake family yet, Trump claimed that the family wanted lawyers to be present and he felt that was "inappropriate".

I thought it would be better not to do anything where there are lawyers involved. They wanted to have lawyers involved and I thought that was inappropriate so I didn't do that, but I did speak with the pastor -- was a fine man, wonderful man -- and I think we had a great talk, and I may at some point do that, but they did have a lawyer that wanted to be on the phone and I said no, that's inappropriate but I gave my best regards," Trump said.

Family's lawyer, Benjamin Crump, on this claim said,&nbsp;"When President Obama called Trayvon and Michael Brown's family, when Vice President Biden called George Floyd's family, their attorneys were present. We don't understand why it would be an issue with Trump's administration, and furthermore last time I checked they had a DOJ investigation that had been started in this matter, so it would be totally appropriate for family to have counsel on the phone," Crump said.

"They (White House) have their attorneys. Why shouldn't the family have their attorneys?" he continued.

Blake's family, too, has taken a step back and expressed their views on Trump not visiting the family.&nbsp;"Our family don't particularly want to have anything to do with him," Justin Blake, victim's uncle said. "We believe he incited this violence."

In a complaint seeking up to $1 billion of damages, the plaintiffs said McDonald's has not offered profitable restaurant locations and growth opportunities to Black franchisees on the same terms as white franchisees, belying its public commitment to diversity and Black entrepreneurship.

In a statement on early on Tuesday, McDonald's denied the charges that the franchisees were unable to succeed due to discrimination.

Chief Executive Chris Kempczinski told CNBC in June that diversity was "critically important" and needed to touch "every single aspect" of its business.

Lawsuit says McDonald's discriminates against Black franchisees

Democrats have accused US President Donald Trump of trying to inflame racial tensions to benefit his campaign as he praised supporters who clashed with protesters in Portland, Oregon.

Violence and protests have been a regular feature in Portland ever since Black Lives Matter -- in support of George Floyd, a Black man who was killed due to the brutality of police on May 25.

On Sunday, one man -- identified as a supporter of a right-wing group -- was shot and killed in Portland when a large caravan of Trump's supporters and Black Lives Matter protesters clashed in the city's streets.

Despite this, Trump praised the caravan participants as "GREAT PATRIOTS!" and blamed the city's Democratic mayor for the death.

He had earlier announced he will travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin, amid anger over the shooting of another Black man by police.

Trump has throughout the summer cast American cities as under siege by violence and lawlessness, despite the fact that most of the protests demonstrating against racial injustice have been largely peaceful.

To this end, Democrats accuse Trump of rooting for unrest and trying to stoke further violence for political gain instead of ratcheting down tensions.

Biden in a statement said he condemned violence on all side, while accusing Trump of "recklessly encouraging" it.

"He may think that war in our streets is good for his reelection chances, but that is not presidential leadership -- or even basic human compassion," Biden said.

"Do you seriously wonder, Mr. President, why this is the first time in decades that America has seen this level of violence," asked Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler.

"It's you who have created the hate and the division."

Trump prepared to travel this week to Kenosha, Wisconsin, where tensions are still raw after police shot Jacob Blake, a 29-year-old Black man, in the back seven times, leaving him paralysed.

The shooting has ignited new demonstrations against racial injustice and police brutality months after George Floyd's death at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer touched off a wider reckoning on race.

Trump has cast the upcoming election as clash between law and order and anarchy, and he has denounced protesters as "thugs" while sharply defending police. That theme was front-and-center at last week's Republican National Convention, which used recent protest footage to paint a foreboding and violent picture of the future if Biden denies Trump a second term.

The Tuesday incident ensued as officers searched for a suspect in a nearby domestic violence call.

Officers stopped the 33-year old and told him they had "reasonable suspicion to believe" he "matched the description of an alleged strangulation family violence incident," the police report said.

The report added Ometu refused to give his name and date of birth after several requests and his "demeanour became aggressive."

During the incident, Ometu allegedly kicked two officers, striking one in the face, the police report said.

The victim of the family violence incident met officers and said Ometu was not the suspect.

He was then arrested and charged with two counts of assault on a peace officer, a statement from the San Antonio Police Department said.

However, bystanders who witnessed the arrest and filmed the interaction between Ometu and police, told CNN that Ometu did not seem aggressive or confrontational toward the officers.

The video shows officers struggling with Ometu to push him into the back of a police vehicle and he is heard yelling, "You're choking me!" several times as the struggle continues for over a minute.

In the videos, police officers are seen attempting to put the man into the vehicle. He appears to resist the police officers.
