According to ABC News, the official sent many photos of the beachfront mansion of Obama in Hawaii and even suggested a tour when the Obamas weren't home.&nbsp;

Obama's campaign, with the slogan 'Forward', mobilised supporters on the progress made during his presidency on women's rights, immigration reform and healthcare. He even took a pro-LGBTQ stance closer to election date.&nbsp;

But on the healthcare front, Obama was often cornered by Romney, who advocated repeal of the Affordable Care Act.&nbsp;

They sparred on these issues at debates, with Obama appearing to be on the backfoot in the first one. But he recovered and improved his performance in later debates.

Well into the last days of campaign, Obama appeared to be on a weak position but his emotional and rousing speeches and Demcratic party's massive ground-level surge campaign managed to convince most voters to give him four more years.&nbsp;

The 2012 election also cemented the role of technology, which was already used in the previous one. Data analytics was used as effectively by Obama campaign as grassroot voter mobilisation.

Romeny somehow did not have the same arsenal when it came to using technology, particularly social media outreach to young voters.

There was also an increase in early voting, which is believed to have helped Obama.

Eventually, Obama won re-election by getting 332 electoral college votes as against 206 for Romney, and 51 per cent of the popular vote as against 47 per cent for the Republican.

But the election was, in many ways, a predictor of the fact that American electorate was getting slowly divided. If you look at the results map in this story, it is clear that red states and blue states were practically split through the middle of the nation. Obama won the more populous and coastal states where miniorities and immigrants live in large numbers. Romney won much of the north, middle America and conservative south, often described as the Bible Belt.

Obama did extremly well with youth, Latinos and Blacks, whereas white voters appear to have preferred Romney. In the second term of Obama, that division only worsened, including protests after police killings of Black people.

Obama's wife, Michelle, is a strong campaigner for the party with reports often indicating a larger political role for her that could even include a run for the presidency in the future.&nbsp;

For all its appearance of being liberal, the Democrats have a dark history of ravaging several parts of the world, particularly during the Cold War era.

Not too different from the Republicans, they supported brutal dictators across Latin America, Asia and West Asia, and 'colour-coded revolutions' in the periphery of the erstwhile Soviet Union in an attempt to surround Russia with pro-West governments.

The Democrats had enjoyed a majority in the US Congress at several points in history. They had near-uninterrupted dominance of the House of Representatives between 1932 and 1938. They won the lower house in 1948, 1954, 1964, 1966, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2018 and 2022, though some of these periods saw their majority shrink.

“We need a president who actually cares about solving problems and making your life better, and that’s what Kamala Harris will do,” Obama said. “And to help her do it, she will need a Senate full of serious public servants like Bob Casey.”

The US Secret Service has rejected claims that there was a "security lapse" in former president Barack Obama's protective detail after reports claimed that an armed individual was able to reach the Democrat leader.&nbsp;

A TMZ report had claimed that a security guard, working at the event in Los Angeles last weekend, approached the SUV transporting the former president without any interference from Secret Service agents.&nbsp;

Notably, the unnamed guard told the tabloid that he saw Obama in the back of the vehicle using a laptop. The guard said he was armed at the time and quickly backed away once he recognised Obama.&nbsp;

The guard also claimed that Secret Service agents only approached him later to check his credentials and concealed weapon permit.&nbsp;

However, the Secret Service&nbsp;has claimed that the report was inaccurate and that there was no breach in the security.&nbsp;

“The Secret Service cannot provide the details on our means and methods of protection, but we can confirm that at no time were any Secret Service protectees in the vehicle while the individual was walking down the alleyway. These claims are inaccurate,” a Secret Serice spokesperson was quoted as saying by Newsweek.&nbsp;

While Trump claimed that migrants were usurping the jobs, data showed that the Black unemployment rate remains near a historic low in the US. The share of Black Americans with jobs stands at 59.1 per cent which is near the peak of 60.4 per cent set last year.&nbsp;

Between 2019 and 2023, the wages for Black workers rose 1.4 per cent, after adjusting for inflation, compared to a 0.9 per cent increase for Hispanics and a 0.5 per cent hike for White workers, according to the US Bureau of Labour Statistics.&nbsp;

Olympics games bid farewell to Paris on Sunday (August 11), and the City of Angels, Los Angeles, is gearing up to welcome the Olympics in 2028. In a new post on Truth Social, former US president Donald Trump has claimed that he is the one who successfully secured Los Angeles' bid to host the 2028 Olympic Games.

“As President-elect, I worked with the Olympic Organizing Committee of Los Angeles in getting the 2028 Olympics to come to the United States. There was tremendous competition from other countries,” the Republican presidential nominee&nbsp;wrote in a post on Truth Social.

In 2017, Los Angeles competed with Paris to host the 2024 Olympic Games. Trump did put his weight behind the city's bid and even met with Thomas Bach, the president of the International Olympic Committee at the White House in June 2017.&nbsp;

The Olympic Organising Committee awarded the hosting rights for the 2024 games to Paris and the 2028 games to Los Angeles.

In his post, Trump also hit out at former president Barack Obama saying that he refused to address the International Olympic Committee. Trump alleged that Obama refused to meet with the IOC because the committee previously rejected his personally submitted request to get 2016 Olympics hosting rights to Chicago, and gave them to the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro instead.

"I gave them what they wanted to hear, and got the job done! It was my great honour to do so. Hopefully, I will be President, and our Country will have reached new (and record!) levels of success. SEE YOU IN 2028. Thank you!" he concluded.

Biden was forced by the Obamas and&nbsp;other senior Democrat leaders to drop out of the presidential race, multiple reports have claimed in the aftermath. Although the US president&nbsp;said he was dropping out in "defence of the democracy" and for the better of the nation, the Democrat has reportedly remained salty over the treatment meted out to him.&nbsp;

Hence, in an attempt to salvage the situation and assert some of his authority, Biden immediately endorsed Harris, which put the Obamas on the back foot.

“It was Joe’s big f–k you,” a source close to the Biden family cited by the publication said. “Joe reportedly&nbsp;said, ‘If I’m out, then I am endorsing her.'”

The report claimed that Barack Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wanted to hold a "mini primary" which they believe, Harris wouldn't have&nbsp;won.&nbsp;

Another source said that Biden plans on taking an active role in Harris'&nbsp;campaign to further rub in on the former president.&nbsp;

After playing a waiting game, both Barack and Michelle on Friday (Jul 26), endorsed Harris as the&nbsp;Democratic nominee for the November elections.

In a video shared by Harris on her social media accounts, the&nbsp;Obamas could be heard formally endorsing the incumbent vice president.

“We called to say Michelle and I couldn’t be prouder to endorse you and do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office," said Barack.&nbsp;

“I can’t have this phone call without saying to my girl Kamala: I am proud of you,” Michelle said, whilst adding: “This is going to be historic.”

Apart from the Obamas, Harris has now received the endorsement from Pelosi,&nbsp;Chuck Schumer, the US Senate majority leader,&nbsp;Hakeem Jeffries, House minority leader and numerous other top Democrats.

With Obama in her corner, next month's Democratic National Convention in Chicago could see Harris being formally named as the party nominee - making her the first India-American woman to fight for the top job.&nbsp;&nbsp;
