Also, devices such as smartphones, cameras and tablets must have batteries easily replaceable by ordinary users.</p>

‘Glory to Hong Kong’ disappears from major streaming platforms: Here’s why

<p>The object, which looks like an iPhone, can be seen in the hands of a man standing to the right of the picture as he prepares to hand it to a woman who sat down in a chair.</p>

<p>Though the title suggests that the object is nothing more than a letter, many conspiracy theorists have speculated about its origin, which even drew Apple CEO Tim Cook’s attention.</p>

<p>When asked about the painting at a recent press conference, Cook said that he was shocked to see the painting and admitted that he was "not so sure" anymore whether Apple is in fact the creator of the iPhone.</p>

<p>“I always thought I knew when the iPhone was invented, but now I’m not so sure anymore," he had at that time, according to Daily Star news outlet.</p>

<p>He then showed the photo to the audience and said, "It's tough to see but I swear it's there."</p>

<p>He stumbled upon the portrait while on a trip to Amsterdam in 2016&nbsp;where he found de Hooch's artwork in the Rijksmuseum art gallery.</p>

<p>"There was an iPhone in one of the paintings,” Cook said.</p>

<h2><strong>Not the first time</strong></h2>

<p>This is not the first time that the supposed resemblance to iPhone has been spotted in classic paintings.</p>

Apple, Amazon must face consumer antitrust lawsuit for artificially inflating prices: US federal judge

<p>In another move aimed at restricting freedom of expression in China, the communist government is set to regulate file-sharing by nearby mobile devices and declare the popular feature a “national security threat".</p>

<p>The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) posted the draft regulation on its website on Tuesday, launching a month-long, largely ineffective, public consultation on the matter.&nbsp;</p>

<p>If the draft regulations come into effect, the use of communication apps, such as Apple’s AirDrop and Google’s File, could be severely impacted.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the draft paper, the new regulations will restrict any feature or “file transfer services that rely on Wi-fi, Bluetooth, and other information technologies to form networks instantly and communicate to other devices over a short range”.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Why is China declaring nearby file-sharing a national security threat?</strong></h2>

<p>The communist country has grown concerned over the increasing use of Wi-fi or Bluetooth-based services to share content deemed politically sensitive by the authorities. For instance, last October, some activists in China were caught sharing anti-Xi Jinping photos using such services.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to some media reports, Bluetooth-based file-sharing apps were used extensively during the 2019 Hong Kong protests. Also, Chinese people were found sharing anti-government content last winter when sentiments against stringent anti-COVID-19 measures were at their peak.</p>

<h2><strong>Security assessment mandatory</strong></h2>

<p>According to draft rules, companies will have to undergo a strict security assessment by the authorities before they make their communication apps widely accessible for Chinese users, any app which could be used for “public expression and social mobilisation”.</p>

According to Gao Fuping, a law professor at the East China University of Political Science and Law in Shanghai, the real-name registration requirement aims to “fill a loophole” in content control.</p>

<p>Gao added, “It is mainly about cybersecurity, and the core aim is to ensure all the information transmission can be traced in case problematic things happen.”</p>

In another move aimed at restricting freedom of expression in China, the communist government is set to regulate file-sharing by nearby mobile devices and declare the popular feature a “national security threat". The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) posted the draft regulation on its website on Tuesday, launching a month-long, largely ineffective, public consultation on the matter. If the draft regulations come into effect, the use of communication apps, such as Apple’s AirDrop and Google’s File, could be severely impacted. According to the draft paper, the new regulations will restrict any feature or “file transfer services that rely on Wi-fi, Bluetooth, and other information technologies to form networks instantly and communicate to other devices over a short range”. Why is China declaring nearby file-sharing a national security threat? The communist country has grown concerned over the increasing use of Wi-fi or Bluetooth-based services to share content deemed politically sensitive by the authorities. For instance, last October, some activists in China were caught sharing anti-Xi Jinping photos using such services. According to some media reports, Bluetooth-based file-sharing apps were used extensively during the 2019 Hong Kong protests. Also, Chinese people were found sharing anti-government content last winter when sentiments against stringent anti-COVID-19 measures were at their peak. Security assessment mandatory According to draft rules, companies will have to undergo a strict security assessment by the authorities before they make their communication apps widely accessible for Chinese users, any app which could be used for “public expression and social mobilisation”. Furthermore, it is still unknown what kind of content will be labelled as a threat to national security. Name registration mandatory Draft regulations also make it mandatory for users to sign in with their official name to the app before using such services. According to Gao Fuping, a law professor at the East China University of Political Science and Law in Shanghai, the real-name registration requirement aims to “fill a loophole” in content control. What the actual 'duck': Apple iOS autocorrect will stop doing this to the F-word

<p><strong>Apple WWDC 2023:</strong> Apple Inc CEO Tim Cook unveiled what is now the tech giant's first augmented-reality headset. The headset, called Apple Vision Pro, was unveiled at Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2023 (WWDC 2023). It is the company's annual software developer conference. With the launch of Apple Vision Pro, the company has made its first big move into a new product category.</p>

<p>CEO Tim Cook described it as "spatial computing" with the device controlled by your eyes, hands and voice.</p>

<p>"It's the first Apple product you look through, not at," Cook said.</p>

<p>Apple did not make any major announcements about generative AI products similar to ChatGPT or Google's Bard search engine, but it quietly imbued several smaller features with AI, like live transcriptions of voice mails.</p>

<p>Apple's entry into the augmented-reality headset market will see the company in an arena already crowded with devices. Also, Apple Vision Pro puts Apple in direct competition with Facebook parent Meta Platforms.</p>

<p>Ahead of the launch, the iPhone maker saw its shares rise by 2 per cent. The prices hit a record high of USD 184.95.</p>

<p>Apple dropped Intel chips from its most powerful desktop. Intel shares fell by 3.9 per cent.</p>

<h2><strong>Gazing at the vision</strong></h2>

<p>Tech fans as well as investors are looking at how much of Apple's view of the virtual reality market overlaps with Meta's. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has already made his vision of 'metaverse' public.</p>

<p>In addition to Meta, Sony Group Corp and ByteDance-owned Pico both recently released virtual reality devices.</p>

<p>Research firm IDC said companies sold a total of 8.8 million headsets last year, down 20.9% from 2021. In the first quarter of 2023, sales more than halved.</p>

<h2><strong>More stuff from Apple WWDC 2023</strong></h2>

<p>Apple announced a 15-inch Macbook Air. It is powered by an Apple-designed M2 processor chip. The laptop comes with six speakers and has a starting price of USD 1299. It will be available next week onwards. The 13-inch Macbook Air will cost the buyers USD 1099.</p>

<p>Apple also updated its Mac Studio desktop machine. The company said that the new M2 Ultra chip can process AI work that rival chips cannot owing to insufficient memory.</p>

<h2><strong>Mac Pro has a new version now</strong></h2>

<p>Mac Pro has a new version now! The highest-performing desktop will now come with an M2 Ultra chip and with a price tag starting at USD 6999. The M2 Ultra chip is essentially two of Apple's largest M2 chips bonded together, a similar approach Apple took to boosting the performance of its M1 chips.</p>

<p>Until Monday, the Mac Pro was the last computer in Apple's lineup that still used an Intel chip.</p>

<p>"For PC users, there's never been a better time to switch to a Mac," said John Ternus, Apple's senior vice president of hardware engineering.</p>

<p>The updates combine improvements to high-end machines aimed at the developer crowd at Monday's event with tweaks to messaging and a new M.ac Air aimed at a much broader group of customers, including potential switchers to Apple.</p>

<p>Apple has also tinkered with iOS software. The small improvements are aimed at annoyances like a "NameDrop" feature to shared contact info more easily. <p>As soon as the deal was announced, shares of Broadcom went up three per cent Tuesday morning. Shares of Apple were down less than one per cent. Apple clarified that the deal with Broadcom was part of its 2021 commitment to invest a whopping $430 billion in the US economy.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Broadcom will manufacture 5G radio components for Apple, including FBAR filters and other wireless connectivity components. According to CNBC, these components will be different from 5G modems developed by Qualcomm.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>A grand jury in the US on Tuesday indicted a former Apple employee, charging him with theft and attempted theft of trade secrets and then fleeing to China.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The accused has been identified as 35-year-old Weibao Wang who was hired by Apple in March 2016 to work as a software engineer. According to the indictment, in 2017, Weibao accepted a job from a Chinese company working to develop self-driving cars before resigning from Apple. However, he waited four months before informing the tech giant of his new job.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Afterwards, Apple discovered that Weibao had accessed large amounts of secret and proprietary data, days before his departure. Consequently, the federal authorities were informed who raided his home in June 2018 and found “large quantities” of data from Apple.</p>

<p>Fearing that authorities were tightening the noose, he purchased a ticket from San Francisco International Airport to Guangzhou, China -&nbsp;informed the justice department.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Weibao continues to remain on the run as authorities attempt to deport him back to the US. He&nbsp;faces a maximum statutory sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine in the amount of $250,000 (or twice the gross gain or loss resulting from the scheme) for each count of theft or attempted theft of trade secrets. &nbsp;</p>

The accused has been identified as 35-year-old Weibao Wang who was hired by Apple in March 2016 to work as a software engineer. According to the indictment, in 2017, Weibao accepted a job from a Chinese company working to develop self-driving cars before resigning from Apple. However, he waited four months before informing the tech giant of his new job. Afterwards, Apple discovered that Weibao had accessed large amounts of secret and proprietary data, days before his departure. Consequently, the federal authorities were informed who raided his home in June 2018 and found “large quantities” of data from Apple. Fearing that authorities were tightening the noose, he purchased a ticket from San Francisco International Airport to Guangzhou, China - informed the justice department. Weibao continues to remain on the run as authorities attempt to deport him back to the US. He faces a maximum statutory sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine in the amount of $250,000 (or twice the gross gain or loss resulting from the scheme) for each count of theft or attempted theft of trade secrets. Other indicted industrial spies Notably, apart from Weibao, the US prosecutors also charged Liming Li, Nikolaos Bogonikolos, Russian nationals Oleg Sergeyevich Patsulya and Vasilii Sergeyevich Besedin as well as Xiangjiang Qiao for myriad charges of industrial espionage.
