<p>An American archaeologist, Karla Dana, tragically died after the boat she was on&nbsp;capsized and sank during an expedition off the west coast of Norway. The vessel was a replica of a Viking Ship</p>

<p>The six people on board the Naddoddur encountered rough seas on the fourth day of their voyage from the Faroe Islands to Norway. A distress signal was sent from the boat on Tuesday evening (Aug 27).</p>

<p>Five of the people on board managed to escape on an inflatable life raft and were airlifted by a helicopter to safety. However, the woman lost her life and her body was later discovered on Wednesday morning near the spot where their boat sank.</p>

<p>The US State Department has confirmed the incident and told BBC, "We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased."</p>

<p>"It’s hard to keep excitement from turning into fear when you see those waves casually tossing around huge modern boats like toys," she wrote in the post, published Wednesday.</p>

<p>"But there’s a wild beauty in the North Sea, a reminder of nature’s raw power, and I feel incredibly lucky to be part of this adventure."</p>

<p>According to Norway's Sea Rescue Society (NSSR), their boat capsized during strong winds of about 40 knots and waves as high as five metres west of the town of Stad.</p>

In 2023, she became a part of the Florida chapter of The Explorers Club, a prestigious international organisation established by Arctic explorers in 1904.</p>

<p>"This brave Explorer left this planet doing something she loved entirely too early," chairman of The Explorers Club's Florida chapter, Joseph Dituri told BBC News. "Her exploration spirit was evident in everything she did as well as her zest for life! It is a better world having had her in it."</p>

<p>He further added that her death serves as a reminder "that we make these dangerous Expeditions and Explorations look easy but they are not".</p>

<p>The expedition was previously delayed for several days due to bad weather conditions until Saturday.&nbsp;</p>

Ice melt reveals mummified body of American mountaineer who vanished in Peru 22 years ago

<p>Three missionaries, including the daughter of Missouri state representative&nbsp;Ben Baker and her husband, were killed in an attack by gangs in the Haitian capital city of Port-au-Prince on Thursday (May 23) evening.</p>

<p>The American couple - Davy and Natalie Lloyd and the director of an Oklahoma-based missionary group 45-year-old Jude Montis were the victims of the gang attack.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a social media post,&nbsp;Baker wrote that the couple&nbsp;"were attacked by gangs this evening and were both killed." "They went to Heaven together," he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>All three were affiliated with Missions in Haiti, Inc. The mission was reportedly operated by Davy Lloyd’s parents for over 20 years. Alicia Lloyd, who co-founded Missions in Haiti with her husband David Lloyd, confirmed the deaths of their son 23-year-old son Davy as well as his 21-year-old wife Natalie in the incident.&nbsp;</p>

<p>David Lloyd told a media outlet about the last conversation he held with his son on the day of the attack. According to David Lloyd, Davy and Natalie were ambushed as they left church.</p>

<p>A post on Missions in Haiti’s Facebook page shared that Davy was taken to the house, tied up and beaten by a gang. Later, the gang filled the mission's trucks with everything they wanted to steal and left.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a later update in the incident, the organisation after a gap of three hours reported that the missionaries were killed by the gang at about 9 o'clock this evening. "We all are devastated," it posted.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Haitian Emergency Response Operations (HERO) retrieved the bodies and transported the remains of the American couple to a hospital morgue.</p>

<p>Lloyd's mother Alicia revealed that after the initial beating, neighbours checked on her son, but a second gang’s arrival escalated the situation.</p>

<h2><strong>Last conversation with son&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>David Lloyd recounted his last conversation with his son during the attacks. The mission and church across the street had security, but when they came out they&nbsp;were overwhelmed when three pickup trucks filled with armed men arrived.</p>

<p>Despite Davy’s desperate call for help, his father could not locate assistance.&nbsp;“He was begging me to find someone to get in there and help him, and I did all I could but I couldn’t locate anybody.”</p>

<p>The lawsuit was filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), a US agency responsible for enforcing and administering federal laws that prohibit discrimination in employment. It also checks for any sort of harassment in the workplace.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The lawsuit alleged that in 2021, an assistant manager at a Chipotle branch in Lenexa, Kansas, repeatedly harassed the employee by demanding that she reveal her hair, despite her repeated refusals. The situation escalated over several weeks until the manager physically grabbed and partially removed her hijab.</p>

<p>The most distressing incident occurred in August 2021 when the manager allegedly reached out and partially pulled off the employee's hijab. Following this ugly experience, the employee gave her two weeks' notice.</p>

<p>The issue came to light following several customer complaints concerning the presence of plastic film adhering to the cheese slices. Six customers reported experiencing choking or gagging after consuming the affected products, media reports said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, fortunately, no injuries were reported. Kraft assured the public that there have been no reports of injuries or significant health problems associated with the recalled cheese slices.</p>

<p>Kraft Heinz has addressed the problem by rectifying the wrapping machine responsible for the issue and conducting thorough inspections of all other processing machines to prevent future incidents. Customers who have purchased the recalled items have the option to return these items to the store of purchase. <p>After years of captivity in Iran, five Americans are finally en route to their homeland, the United States. This comes after a contentious swap agreement brokered by Qatar resulted in the transfer of approximately $6 billion in Iranian money from South Korea to banks in Doha. Four American men and one woman, who also hold Iranian citizenship, departed from Tehran on a chartered flight bound for the capital of Qatar. Upon their arrival in Doha, they received a warm reception from senior US officials and are scheduled to be transported to Washington, DC.</p>

<p>These Americans include individuals who have endured prolonged incarceration in Iran and whose release has garnered much international attention.</p>

<h2><strong>Here are profiles of the returning Americans</strong></h2>

<h2><strong>Siamak Namazi (Age: 51)</strong></h2>

<p>Siamak Namazi, a 51-year-old businessman, has spent nearly eight years confined within Tehran's notorious Evin prison. He was working in Dubai for Crescent Petroleum Co. when he was apprehended during a visit to his family in Tehran back in 2015.</p>

<p>Tragically, his elderly father, Baquer Namazi, was also detained the following year after Iranian officials permitted him to visit his imprisoned son.</p>

<p>His father Baquer Namazi was arrested at the Tehran airport. He served two years of his sentence. The 86-year-old Iranian-American was previously prevented from departing Iran.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Shargi, an Iranian-American entrepreneur, relocated to Iran from the United States in 2017 along with his spouse.</p>

<p>The 58-year-old businessman initially was taken into custody by the Revolutionary Guards in April 2018 when he was working for the Iranian venture capital fund Sarava.</p>

<p>In April 2021, his daughters shared with the Washington Post that he was enduring harsh conditions in prison and had only been allowed a couple of brief, monitored phone calls.</p>

<p>Then, in August 2023, Shargi was placed under house arrest.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Morad Tahbaz (Age: 67)</strong></h2>

<p>Morad Tahbaz, a 67-year-old environmentalist, was arrested in 2018 along with eight other Iranian conservationists. The group were members of the Persian Wildlife Heritage Foundation. They were reportedly tracking critically endangered wild Asiatic cheetahs using cameras. Iran accused them of espionage.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The law was challenged by Chad and Jennifer Brackeen, along with other non-Native prospective adoptive couples, who argued that ICWA violated the Constitution by racially discriminating and compelling the state to enforce federal mandates.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, in the case before the court, the state of Texas and several families adopting American Indian children challenged the law, arguing that it encroached on state autonomy.</p>

<p>In its Thursday ruling, the court did not decide whether the law unconstitutionally discriminates based on race when it comes to placing children in Native foster and adoptive homes.</p>

<p>The court determined that the challengers, including prospective adoptive parents and the state of Texas, lacked standing to sue as they had not suffered concrete harm, reported NPR media portal.&nbsp;</p>
