J&amp;K Police's Inspector General VK Birdi also held a security meeting. He briefed the top officials of Jammu and Kashmir Police regarding the security arrangements and smooth conduct of the Amarnath Yatra.&nbsp;

"Jammu and Kashmir Police has made adequate security arrangements and additional CRPF and Paramilitary forces have been inducted to make minute security arrangements. We have made multi-tier arrangements, be it Highway protection or entire track route protection. There are camp security measures taken care of. Technology always chips in for the security arrangements, we have already made elaborate use of CCTV surveillance on routes. We also have many technologies to detect unknown objects, besides that we have drones. Traffic arrangements would be made comfortable for tourists and Yatri's. There would be some time regulations we would be advertising soon so that tourists and Yatri's are aware, and their security aspects are taken care of without comprising their travel plans. We have taken all security measures with regard to the recent attacks, we have incorporated all the measures," Birdi told WION.&nbsp;

J&amp;K government has established a digital hi-tech Command Control Centre for real-time surveillance of the Amarnath Yatra routes. This will help the government to regulate the Yatra in a smooth manner. The centre will have around 60 people from around 20 government departments working day and night. The departments working in the centre include J&amp;K police, CRPF, NDRF, SDRF, Health, PHE, PDD, Telecom and many others.

There will be over 17 PTZ high-definition 360-degree view cameras placed all through the routes from base camps to the cave. Dozens of static cameras have also been placed at strategically important places from both Baltal and Chandanwari base camps.&nbsp;

The first batch of Yatri's will leave from Jammu camp on June 28 and will reach the same day to both the base camps at Nunwan in Pahalgam and Baltal in Sonmarg. The first batch of Yatri's will be allowed to move towards the cave on June 29.&nbsp;

J&amp;K police mountain rescue teams also carried out mock drills at the Nunwan Base camp in Pahalgam. In case of any natural disaster, teams from Jammu and Kashmir Police, NDRF, SDRF, BSF and CRPF have been deployed at all the critical junctures for both routes so that help can reach out to Yatris as soon as possible in case of any emergency.&nbsp;

"The natural torrential rains etc come in our way and we have made adequate arrangements as far as disaster management is concerned. Jammu and Kashmir's mountain rescue teams are there, SDRF and NDRF teams are there. Besides this BSF and CRPF are also contributing to the mountain rescue teams and they have been placed at the critical junctures at the entire route so that they can be pushed in case of any exigency. We have made all security arrangements, and we pray their travel and stay is comfortable," said Birdi.&nbsp;

All the registered Yatris taking the pilgrimage will be provided with RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). This is to make sure that all the pilgrims are tagged and while they take the journey, the authorities would know their exact locations.&nbsp;

Along with stressing upon the necessity of strong security for the pilgrimage, the Home Minister also called on authorities to guarantee the security of all routes and important sites.

The Yatra is scheduled to start on June 29 and run until August 19. Baltal and Pahalgam are the two routes pilgrims to Amarnath use via Jammu and Kashmir. This year, the officials anticipate that there may be up to five lakh pilgrims.

While breaking all previous records, the Jammu and Kashmir government has said that over 300,000 pilgrims have visited the Amarnath Cave Shrine in the first three weeks of the pilgrimage. The government said this record-breaking feat happened due to improvement in infrastructure and allied services.&nbsp;

''With the addition of 13,797 Yatris who performed darshan&nbsp;on 20th July. The cumulative total stands now at 307,354. The figures are testimony to the fact that the government has developed physical infrastructure of electricity, health, roads, sanitation and treks besides ensured transportation services from road transport, helipad service and pony services,'' the government said.

Almost 30 government departments have been looped in to ensure seamless facilities to make Yatris feel at home. The enhanced facilities from accommodation, food, water, health care and pony service generated a positive response from devotees who undertook the yatra and encouraged others to embark on Amarnath Yatra.

''To make Amarnath pilgrimage a memorable lifetime experience for devotees, the potential of available resources was capitalized to the brim which ensured stress-free and tireless yatra. This year, the government made a twin axis from Pahalgam and Baltal to glow with lights from base camps to Holy Cave which helped to carry on yatra during evening hours," the government added.&nbsp;

The construction of two state-of-art 100-bed&nbsp;hospitals for the treatment of yatris and all the associated people is an example of seriousness shown by the government for boosting allied infrastructure. Besides&nbsp;the&nbsp;existing health infrastructure, every camp is manned by expert health teams who daily examine hundreds of Yatris and provide&nbsp;them medicines and advice.

Since the influx of Yatris is swelling with every passing day, the government also made sure that transportation facilities be provided to Yatris from Jammu to base camps in Kashmir. Besides, the helipad service is also available for the yatris who are willing to avail this facility.

''To keep a strict vigil on the nitty-gritty of yatra for smooth and peaceful conduct, the government established Integrated Command &amp; Control Centre which is integrated with RFID. This data-based science helps in effective crowd control management, traceability, avoidance of traffic jams and management besides coordination among all stakeholders on a real-time basis,'' the government further said.&nbsp;

Amarnath Yatra has become a centre of attraction for citizens of the nation and also to foreign citizens this year. Amid heightened security, Amarnath Yatra started in the Kashmir Valley on Saturday (July 1). Over 3400 registered pilgrims took the journey on the very first day of the start of the Amarnath Yatra. Before sunrise, the pilgrims who had reached the base camps at Nunwan in Pahalgam and Baltal in Sonamarg started the journey towards the Holy cave. 
 
The Amarnath Yatra will be on for 62 days this year with over 60 thousand security forces brought in to secure the pilgrims and the route to the Holy Cave. A three-tier security system has been put in place to make sure the Yatra is carried out peacefully. The journey to the Holy Cave located at an altitude of 3,880 metres in the Himalayan hills of South Kashmir will be covered by pilgrims from two routes.

The terror organisation TRF, an offshoot of Lashkar, had issued a threat for the Amarnath Yatra. And most of the security arrangements have been given to the paramilitary forces like CRPF and also to Jammu and Kashmir Police. The deployment of forces has been done from the Jammu region and through the National Highway to Kashmir. 
 
The authorities have made all the arrangements with regard to any natural disaster due to erratic weather etc. Hundreds of members from the Disaster Management, SDRF, and NDRF teams have been deployed on both routes of the Yatra. The government has also made sure to use the latest technology and equipment for the safety of the pilgrims.

All the registered Yatris taking the pilgrimage have been provided with RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). This is to make sure that all the pilgrims are tagged and while they take the journey, the authorities would know their exact locations. The CCTV cameras are being used across the routes of the Yatra. 
 
Hundreds of langar's (free food stalls) have been placed at the base camps and all through the routes of the Yatra. The locals have also set up shops for the pilgrims. The government has also established ATMs and many other facilities for the pilgrims. 
 
The government has also made a makeshift 100-bed&nbsp;hospital at both the base camps in Chandanwari and Nunwan for providing better healthcare facilities to the pilgrims undertaking Amarnath Yatra.&nbsp;

Over 3,000 pilgrims have already arrived in the Kashmir Valley to participate in the Amarnath yatra since access to the pilgrimage site from the base camps of Pahalgam and Sonamarg was opened.

Indian Army’s Northern Army Commander, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, carried out a review of the ongoing preparations for Amarnath Yatra 2023, which will commence on July 1&nbsp;for a duration of two months. The Yatra takes place annually via two routes i.e. Southern route through Baltal in Ganderbal and the Northern Route through Pahalgam in Anantnag district.

The Army Commander inspected the arrangements on both routes, where he was briefed on the multi-tiered security arrangements to include night domination through night vision devices, snipers, drone systems, bomb disposal squads, dog squads, counter IED equipment, vehicle repair and recovery teams to ensure smooth movement of convoys and synergy with civil agencies being undertaken to make the Yatra incident free. &nbsp;He was also shown the arrangements made by Border Roads Organisation (BRO), &nbsp;Indian Air Force and Teams from High Altitude Warfare School. 
&nbsp; 
According to the Indian army, “The road stretch to Holy Cave Shrine is almost clear for the induction of pilgrims. In coordination with Civil administration, NGOs and other agencies, Army is establishing multiple medical detachments with special arrangements of oxygen cylinders and control rooms at various points along both routes for humanitarian aid that will be operational round the clock.”&nbsp;

It also added, “Various civil aviation agencies have been incorporated for providing air travel facilities to the devotees. The Army has established helipads at multiple locations for medical emergencies and to cater for other airlift requirements. Army has also established a number of Yatri camps with adequate tentage facilities along with special winter clothing arrangements to provide habitat and comfort during the Holy Yatra.”

Based on the experiences of the cloud burst during the Amarnath Yatra 2022, civil rescue teams and avalanche rescue teams have to be deployed en route systematically to mitigate any kind of disaster. Earth movers will also be placed at the Holy Cave and multiple locations en route for emergencies. A seamless communication network on both routes has also been operationalised. Special Frontier Force (SFF) detachments will also be overlooking the security of the people.

An “All Inclusive Approach” has been followed to synergize the efforts with all civil agencies including joint training, joint operation, joint exercises and mock drills being conducted to ensure seamless and successful conduct of the Yatra this year.

The Northern Army commander appreciated the good work of all agencies and the synergy between them. He complimented them for their proactive action and exhorted them to meet future challenges.

''Create a strong healthcare and health emergency infrastructure with additional teams of doctors and nursing staff. Officials should harness the benefits of technology to deal with any emergent situation. Proper arrangements for regular ambulances, Heli-ambulance service and oxygen cylinders must be ensured. It must be ensured that the track is prepared for ponies, and pithoos from Chandanwari to holy cave well before the commencement of the yatra,'' said Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha.&nbsp;

The Lt Governor set the deadline of&nbsp;June 20 for the completion of various works including snow clearance at MG Top, Panjtarni and other such areas; completion of the emergency landing platform at holy cave; boundary walls, safety railing on vulnerable stretches; water supply and installation of RO in every camp.

''Power supply and illumination in every camp should be done by June 17. Health facilities and the availability of health equipment should be ensured. SOP by the health department to be made operational at each camp. We must learn from the challenges of last year and take comprehensive measures accordingly. All the concerned departments, CAPFs, J&amp;K Police, Army and other stakeholders should work in close coordination for making the best arrangements to ensure a smooth pilgrimage. Feedback on tracks from civil administration, and security forces should also be taken,'' said Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha.&nbsp;

India: LG reviews Amarnath Yatra arrangements in Pahalgam, over 60K troops to be deployed for security

With the government announcing the opening of registration for the Annual Amarnath Yatra, the preparations and arrangements for the pilgrimage have started in both the districts of Ganderbal and Anantnag of Kashmir Valley.&nbsp;

The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) announced earlier that this year the pilgrimage would be for 62 days instead of 45 days. The Amarnath Yatra would start from July 1. The SASB has introduced Aadhaar authentication-based registration for pilgrims this year. The registration can be done at over 500 bank branches across India.&nbsp;

“Hassle-free pilgrimage is the top priority of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji. The administration will provide best-in-class healthcare and other essential facilities to all the visiting devotees and service providers,” said Manoj Sinha, Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.&nbsp; 
&nbsp; 
He added, “Telecom services will be made operational prior to the commencement of Pilgrimage. All the stakeholder departments are working in coordination to ensure facilities for lodging, power, water, security and other arrangements for the smooth conduct of Yatra,”&nbsp;

The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board has also said that there will be a live telecast of morning and evening aarti (prayers) for devotees across the globe. Shri Amarnath Yatra’s App has been made available on the Google Play store to get real-time information about the Yatra, and weather and for availing of several services online.

According to the government, no one below the age of 13 years or above the age of 75 years, and no woman with more than six weeks' pregnancy shall be allowed to take the pilgrimage.&nbsp;

SASB held a meeting which was chaired by the Lt Governor and attended by the members and officials, reviewed various aspects of Amarnath Yatra-2023, including registration, provision of helicopter services, service providers, camps, langars and insurance cover for Yatris.

The Lt Governor also directed the officials to ensure high levels of cleanliness and to take necessary interventions for sanitation and waste management during the Yatra.&nbsp;

Amarnath Yatra preparations start, registrations begin across India

After a&nbsp;pause of four days, Amarnath Yatra has started via both routes, Pahalgam and Sonmarg. A cloud burst had triggered a flash flood that resulted in death of 16 pilgrims. Many are still missing. Amarnath Shrine Board has not shared any data about missing yatris. Indian Air Force has said that 80 per cent of the rescue operation is over.

Officials say that the rescue operation is being carried out at the flash flood site as well as the river flowing from Amarnath cave to Baltal base camp. Although the authorities say that there are very slim chances of finding any survivors.&nbsp;

“I think a major effort has already gone through. They have already cleared the opening of the yatra again. We think in a day or two we will be able to clear the area for anything else," said Air Commodore Pankaj Mittal, air force station, Srinagar.&nbsp;

More than 30 people are feared to be missing and trapped under the debris that came along with the flash floods in the area. So far, the authorities with Amarnath Shrine Board have not released any details about the missing people.

Earlier, camping within 5 kilometres of the Amarnath Cave was prohibitted. But last few years have seen tents and community kitchens being permitted close to the Amarnath Cave.&nbsp;

Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir has called for a probe into this.&nbsp;

“We hope the government will explain what happened and how, and a commission would be set up to investigate. Why were the tents put up at such risky places? It should be investigated? The question is that so far, I don't think the tents were ever placed at the location before this. It is the for the first time. It should be investigated, and It can be a human error," said Farooq Abdullah, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.&nbsp;

The questions are also raised with regard to the failure of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags for Yatris. The government and Shrine board had claimed that every Yatri taking the pilgrimage would be tracked all through the routes with the help of technology and these RFID cards. But reports are that they have not found a single missing Yatri with the help of these RFID cards. However, the Indian army was seen using sniffer dogs, high tech radars and avalanche trans-receivers to look for the bodies under the rubble.&nbsp;

Authorities have not so far released details about the missing people at the site of the flsh flood. This has caused concern among the people.

It is the for the first time. It should be investigated, and It can be a human error," said Farooq Abdullah, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. The questions are also raised with regard to the failure of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags for Yatris. The government and Shrine board had claimed that every Yatri taking the pilgrimage would be tracked all through the routes with the help of technology and these RFID cards. But reports are that they have not found a single missing Yatri with the help of these RFID cards. However, the Indian army was seen using sniffer dogs, high tech radars and avalanche trans-receivers to look for the bodies under the rubble. The Amarnath Shrine Board is extending the online facility for performing virtual pooja, virtual hawan, prasad booking etc for the devotees. "We have made all the arrangements for the smooth functioning of Amarnath Yatra and for those people who can't come for the Yatra, we have made facilities for virtual yatra, we can arrange for a Virtual Pooja or Take prasad or get a Havan done, you will get all the facilities. We have created a virtual room and our priests will let you be a part of the Pooja. Second, we have kept gold coins in the Amarnath cave of 5gm and 10gm, when the Yatra comes out after performing the Yatra, at the exit gate we give them the Prasad," said Nitishwar Kumar, CEO Shrine Board. The Amarnath Shrine Board has opened an online facility for the devotees to book their Pooja, Havan, and Prasad online. The priests at the holy cave will offer it in the devotee’s name, and the Prasad will be subsequently delivered at the doorsteps of the devotees. The devotees have to register on the Shrine Board website and by paying Rs 1100/- for virtual Pooja, Rs. 1100/- for Prasad booking (with 5 gm silver coin of Shri Amarnath), Rs. 2100/- for Prasad booking (with 10 gm silver coin of Shri Amarnath ) Rs. 5100/- for the special Havan or combination of any of the above. Security forces said that there would be round the clock Patrolling at all the Yatra routes and National Highways. Aerial surveillance with the help of drones and CCTV's have been put across the Highway routes to keep an extra vigil at both the base camps Nunwan Pahalgam and Baltal Sonmarg.

The 43-day-long Amarnath pilgrimage will commence from the Kashmir base camps on June 30. The Yatra will conclude on August 11 on the occasion of Rakhsha Bandhan.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the shrine board, Nitishwar Kumar, asserted that the security of pilgrims is their top priority.

“The RFID tags would help in tracking a pilgrim and to let know where the person is. RFID has lots of benefits and among them, the most important one is that it would find out if there are any unauthorised persons,” said Kumar.&nbsp;

The authorities also said that pilgrims can get RFID from airport and railway station. Even the local vendors would be provided with these RFID tags. &nbsp;

The authorities also appealed to all those taking the yatra this year to comply with the new rule of securing RFID tags. The authorities say it's for the security of the pilgrims.&nbsp;

The Amarnath yatra will be starting on June 30 and will go on till August 11. The government expects at least 600,000 pilgrims to take part in this year’s pilgrimage.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Police chief, Dilbag Singh, reviewed the security arrangements for the Amarnath pilgrimage on Friday and asked different agencies to maintain close coordination within their ranks and among themselves for conducting the pilgrimage peacefully.

The director-general of police held a high-level meeting of officers from the police, army and central armed paramilitary forces (CAPF) at the police headquarters.

Every year, hundreds and thousands of devotees undertake this pilgrimage to offer their prayers at the Amarnath cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir.

The shrine is considered to be one of the holiest temples in India. The main cave is situated at a height of 12,756 ft from sea level and remains covered with snow most of the year except for a short period of time in summer.&nbsp;

Police inspect Amarnath Yatra route as security arrangements continue

With hotels and houseboats fully booked and tourists queuing up for shikara rides on the famous Dal Lake, Kashmir Valley is witnessing record-breaking tourist footfall in the past one decade.&nbsp;

According to the tourism department of Jammu and Kashmir, 600,00 tourists have visited the valley in the past four months—the highest in the last ten years.

And with Amarnath Yatra (pilgrimage) starting in June, the government expects the numbers to grow further.

''As you know&nbsp;the winter season, i.e., from January to March, has been good, and even the April figures have been better. More than 600,000 tourists have arrived in the first four months of this year, which is turning out to be a great tourism season and year for Kashmir. Given the fact that the pilgrimage is also happening, tourism in the valley will get a further push. This time, we will be welcoming tourists for yatra as well as other destinations. It's a good sign for the tourism industry. We suffered&nbsp;a lot due to the pandemic. As we see the figures, and keeping in mind the holidays across India, we expect a lot of tourist arrivals. We are also exploring new tourist destinations,'' said G N Itoo, Director, Tourism Department.&nbsp;

The tourism industry in the Kashmir Valley had incurred huge losses in the last three years. Following the revocation of Article 370 and the COVID-19 pandemic hitting the world, the tourism sector in the valley went out of business.&nbsp;

''It's true that around 500,000 to 600,000 tourists visited the valley in the last few months. This is the first time after decades that we are seeing so many tourist arrivals to the Kashmir Valley. We suffered a lot during the Covid pandemic. But after witnessing tremendous tourist footfall, we are hopeful that momentum will continue to grow further,'' said Manzoor Ahmad, travel operator.&nbsp;

One of the main factors Kashmir is seeing a plethora of tourists is the heatwave conditions that have been wreaking havoc in the northern parts of the country. With temperatures hovering around 20 degrees Celsius, people are thronging to the valley to get respite from unrelenting summers.

“This is my second visit to Kashmir. I came in 2014 for the first time and witnessed snowfall. Tulip Garden was so beautiful. I am sure millions of people have come here and it looks much more developed now. It's a great place and everyone should come. Those who don't are missing out on something beautiful,'' said Nimisha Kapadia, a tourist.

The preparations for the Amarnath Yatra are currently in progress with the government expecting around 500,000 to 600,00 people to take part in the pilgrimage this year.

It's a good sign for the tourism industry. We suffered a lot due to the pandemic. As we see the figures, and keeping in mind the holidays across India, we expect a lot of tourist arrivals. Following the revocation of Article 370 and the COVID-19 pandemic hitting the world, the tourism sector in the valley went out of business. ''It's true that around 500,000 to 600,000 tourists visited the valley in the last few months. This is the first time after decades that we are seeing so many tourist arrivals to the Kashmir Valley. We suffered a lot during the Covid pandemic. But after witnessing tremendous tourist footfall, we are hopeful that momentum will continue to grow further,'' said Manzoor Ahmad, travel operator. One of the main factors Kashmir is seeing a plethora of tourists is the heatwave conditions that have been wreaking havoc in the northern parts of the country. With temperatures hovering around 20 degrees Celsius, people are thronging to the valley to get respite from unrelenting summers. “This is my second visit to Kashmir. I came in 2014 for the first time and witnessed snowfall. Tulip Garden was so beautiful. I am sure millions of people have come here and it looks much more developed now. It's a great place and everyone should come. Those who don't are missing out on something beautiful,'' said Nimisha Kapadia, a tourist. The preparations for the Amarnath Yatra are currently in progress with the government expecting around 500,000 to 600,00 people to take part in the pilgrimage this year.

India’s Border Security Force (BSF) on Wednesday said they have foiled plans of the Pakistani-based terror groups to attack Amarnath Yatra after detecting a cross-border tunnel along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district.

According to the Indian security force, the tunnel is 150 metres long and originates in Pakistan. Its opening was about 2 feet and sandbags were used to strengthen the exit of the tunnel.

Apart from that, a 265-feet long Oxygen pipe was also found in the tunnel as a further search was underway.

The officers believe that the tunnel was by two suicide bombers of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror group to sneak into India,&nbsp;news agency PTI reported.

The suicide bombers were neutralised two weeks ago during a gunfight that ensued shortly after attacking a CISF bus, killing an Assistant Sub-inspector in Sunjwan area of Jammu on April 22.

"With the detection of this tunnel, BSF-Jammu has foiled the nefarious designs of Pakistan-based terrorists to disrupt the upcoming Amarnath yatra," PTI quoted BSF DIG SPS Sandhu as saying.

Inspector General of BSF Jammu Frontier, DK Boora informed that this tunnel was the fifth one detected in less than one-and-half years.

"This shows the evil strategy of Pakistan establishment to create trouble in India," Boora told reporters in Jammu.

Air India has capped fares of all its flights to and from Srinagar till August 15, a spokesperson for the airline said on Sunday.

Speaking to ANI, AI spokesperson Dhananjay Kumar said the national carrier has capped fares at Rs 9500 after Jammu and Kashmir administration on Friday issued a security advisory for tourists and Amarnath Yatris asking them to leave the Valley immediately citing security concerns.

For a one-way direct flight from Srinagar to Delhi, even low-cost airlines such as IndiGo, SpiceJet, GoAir and AirAsia charged between Rs 10,000 to Rs 22,000, according to travel portals, as against around Rs 3,000.

Similarly, from Srinagar to Jammu, flight rates on Saturday were Rs 16,000. Other places like Amritsar, Chandigarh, and Jaipur also witnessed a jump in airfares ranging between Rs 10,000 to Rs 19,000.

Web portals of several airlines with flights from Srinagar on Saturday and Sunday showed that virtually all seats were sold out.

The advisory to Amarnath Yatris was issued after it was announced in a joint press conference of the Army and police forces in Srinagar that weapons and ammunition were recovered in the Amarnath Yatra route.

They also said terrorists from Pakistan were planning to launch an attack on Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, based on credible inputs.

In view of the additional rush of passengers, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had on Friday asked Indian airlines to be prepared to operate extra flights to and from Srinagar to fly out Amarnath Yatris and tourists from the Valley.

Soon after DGCA's directions, airlines made announcements to give a full fee waiver on rescheduling/cancellation for all its flights to/from Srinagar.

The search operation in areas parallel to the track was carried out by the units of the Indian Army deployed specifically for protection duty under Op Shiva, they said.

While the northern axis of the Yatra route was covered by 3 Sector RR, the Southern Sector was covered by 1 Sector RT (both units are part of the Rashtriya Rifles'&nbsp;Victor Force).

During the search, one M24 rifle and an Anti-Personnel Land mine with markings of POF (Pakistan Ordnance Factory) were recovered along the Northern route about 1.5 km south-west of the Sangam Top.

While on the southern flank, an IED was recovered 1.2 km north-east of Sheshnag.

The M24 rifle is a sniper weapon in service being used by the US Army.

The Indian government`s decision to curtail the ongoing Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir came after a series of intelligence inputs were received by security agencies warning of multiple terror attacks by Pakistan based Jaish-e-Mohammad.&nbsp;

These plots were in their final stages of planning before crucial intelligence inputs were received by the Indian security establishment that resulted in the quick mobilisation of troops for counter-insurgency operations.

According to latest reports, three JeM operatives were positioned in terror launch pads in the Nezapir sector of PoK, opposite the Indian post of Shahpur sector in Poonch.&nbsp;

This group had the direct operational backing of Pakistani SSG commandos deployed in this area and had planned to conduct a BAT (Border Action Team) operation against Indian troops along forwards posts of Barood, Sher, Shakti and Kaiyaan.

The report also suggested that an IED attack was being planned on convoys of security forces along the Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri National highway shortly, with materials to fabricate the IED already smuggled into the Valley.

An earlier tranche of intel briefs also informed authorities that Ibrahim Azhar, JeM Chief Masood Azhar`s brother, had resurfaced in PoK and was tasked to oversee operations of the banned terror organization.

The appearance of a high ranked JeM operative triggered warnings that a major terror attack was imminent which further resulted in the escalation of Indian troops in the valley.

The `Askari` training is part of JeM`s fundamental `Literature and Weaponry` course imparted to its cadres. It is believed that all 15 of these terrorists are being prepped for infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir.

On Friday evening and early on Saturday, leaders across the political spectrum in Kashmir met with Governor Satyapal Malik to raise concern over mass hysteria in the state over the recent troop induction.&nbsp;

The Governor informed the delegations which included PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference`s Omar Abdullah, that immediate action was required to deal with the security situation in the state.&nbsp;

On Friday evening and early on Saturday, leaders across the political spectrum in Kashmir met with Governor Satyapal Malik to raise concern over mass hysteria in the state over the recent troop induction. The Governor informed the delegations which included PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference`s Omar Abdullah, that immediate action was required to deal with the security situation in the state. The Governor informed the delegations that the Amarnath Yatra was a target and going by the lethality of the weapons recovered from neutralized terrorists and constant shelling from Pakistan on the border, counter-insurgency operations had to be escalated. Governor Malik also requested political leaders to ask their supporters to maintain calm and not believe in exaggerated and unfounded rumours that had begun circulating on social media.

"Today, on the 22nd day of the ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra, 13,377 Yatris paid obeisance at the Holy Cave and cumulatively since the beginning of the pilgrimage on July one, 2,85,381 Yatris had darshan at the Holy Cave," the Raj Bhavan said in a statement on Monday.

The 46-day-long yatra began on July 1, the day of Masik Shivratri, and will conclude on August 15, the day of Shravan Purnima.

Situated at an altitude of 3,888 m, the Amarnath cave is considered as one of the holiest shrines for Hindus. The Yatra takes place from the traditional 36-km Pahalgam track in Anantnag district and 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal district.

As many as 95,923 pilgrims have performed the Amarnath Yatra since it started on July 1. However, no fresh batch of pilgrims was allowed to move towards the cave due to a protest called by locals to commemorate the death of Hizbul militant Burhan Wani.

Burhan Wani was killed in Kokernag area of Anantnag district on July 8, 2016 in a gunfight with the security forces.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti said that the arrangements made by the government are causing inconvenience to locals.

"Amarnath Yatra is taking place since years. But unfortunately, the arrangements done this year are against the people of Kashmir. It's causing a lot of trouble in the day-to-day lives of local people. I would like to request the Governor to intervene in this," news agency ANI quoted the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister.

She further said that restriction on the use of Jammu and Kashmir highway by the locals is excesses against people by the Central government.&nbsp;

However, Governor Satyapal Malik asked people to bear with the curbs imposed on civilian traffic on the national highway for two hours daily as it concerns the safety and the security of the pilgrims.
