What retirement? Amitabh Bachchan shoots in Manali's freezing weather for Ayan Mukerji's 'Brahmastra'

Amitabh Bachchan may soon retire from the world of acting if his recent comments are taken into consideration.

The star was spotted leaving from Mumbai to join the shooting of his next film ‘Brahmastra’ with an ensemble cast in Manali today when he revealed that maybe it’s time for him to bid the acting world goodbye.

Amitabh Bachchan wrote on his blog after reaching Manali that his body is sending him signals to retire. He also wrote about how he was impressed by the simplicity of the small town and hospitality of the locals and those he met during the stopovers. “Tranquil .. essence of the freshness .. the winter feel, the purity hopefully of the air .. and a rest after 5am to now .. there is great humility and joy of felicitations en route .. the simplicity of the smaller town reigns supreme .. as does the generous hospitality .. we can never match their honesty and simplicity.”

As he spoke about “another new environ and another readjustment to room and its accoutrements,'' the actor added, “I must retire .. the head is thinking something else and the fingers another .. it's a message.”

Another report mentioned, “Amitabh is in Manali for the next few days before he moves to another shoot in a foreign location in early December. The film’s antagonists, Mouni Roy and Saurav Gurjar, too, will be a part of this schedule, that requires some amount of prep before the camera rolls.”

Amitabh Bachchan is contemplating taking retirement from acting

Just yesterday we reported that Shah Rukh Khan might have confirmed his first film after ‘Zero’ with director Atlee. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala tweeted on October 31 that the film will be titled ‘Sanki’ and the announcement is said to be made on November 2, Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday.

The movie is said to be a masala entertainer that will be directed by commercially successful filmmaker Atlee.

Meanwhile, we now also have news that Khan might also star in Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’ that stars real-life couple Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor. It has been in the making for some time now and is scheduled to release in the theatres in the summer of 2020. It was earlier scheduled to release on Christmas 2019.

A source quoted in a Mumbai Mirror report was quoted, “Shah Rukh himself likes Ayan’s work and immediately agreed to the cameo. And like everyone else’s in the film, even SRK’s character has the mythological touch.”

“It’s a guest appearance but Shah Rukh plays a pivotal role in taking Ranbir’s journey forward. He has already allotted his dates for his portions and will shoot before the year-end,” the source added. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, Dimple Kapadia and Nagarjuna in important roles.

There have been no confirmations on the news as of yet.

‘Brahmastra’ is part of a fantasy trilogy of which this is the first part. The film aims to bring Indian mythology with science fiction, a first-of-its-kind in India.

For the uninitiated, announcing the dealy earlier this year, the director had written an emotional post: “Brahmastra for me is a dream that began in 2011 and I’ve been actively pursuing it since Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani released in 2013. That dream is about creating a movie that offers our country something that’s really new and amazing and next level...in terms of story, character and emotions but also in terms of visual and visual effects. It’s been a long, long road to achieve this vision. When we broke the logo for Brahmastra at the Kumbh, we were excited that the end of the road is near, Christmas 2019...the date we announced for the release of the movie. But in the past weeks, I have learnt that teams working on the movie, lead by my VFX teams need more time in order to get the VFX right, to get the sound and music right, to get the film right. With that in mind, we are moving away from Christmas 2019 as our goal for the release of the movie. Working towards that goal could affect the most important goal which is to create the best possible movie experience that Brahmastra can be! Our release date is now slated for summer 2020 but we will announce this once we are absolutely certain of the date. I believe that the extra time going into making the movie is essential to achieve the dream of Brahmastra , and I really hope we make up for the delay by giving our movie-loving country something they can really love and feel proud of.”

And like everyone else’s in the film, even SRK’s character has the mythological touch.” “It’s a guest appearance but Shah Rukh plays a pivotal role in taking Ranbir’s journey forward. Karan launched the three actors in the film about love and friendship. In the flick, Varun essayed the role of a rich bully while Sidharth was shown to be confident, hardworking, and perfect in almost everything. Alia played the role of a spoilt rich girl, who was actually a love-struck student who valued relationships above all.

One day they set the internet on fire with couple-like pictures at a public event (Mukesh Ambani’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebration in Mumbai) and a day later you can see them having a great time vacationing together. We are talking about the new lovebirds in B-town, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.

They were spotted two days back at Ganesh Chaturthi function at Antilia when they came together dressed in their traditional best. A day later, their vacation pictures will make you want to take that trip right now as Alia Bhatt shared a photo of self on Instagram, enjoying the sun and talking about life in general.

She captioned the image, “Morning is here, the day is new, perhaps this is where the light breaks through.” In the picture, she can be seen with her back to the camera, gazing at the vast plains before her, with the setting sun on the horizon. While there is no mention of Ranbir Kapoor, we know they were together as another picture shared on the photo-sharing app of the two help us complete the frame.

Aamir Khan to Katrina Kaif: Bollywood steps out in festive best for Ganesh Chaturthi

Alia Bhatt’s latest song ‘Prada’ might be the newest sensation on music charts but Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat has a serious problem with it.

Mehwish took a dig at Alia Bhatt who features in the music video as she called it a stolen song. She criticised Bollywood for its alleged “hypocrisy” and accused it of stealing Pakistani songs.

Apparently the song ‘Prada’ bears resemblance with Pakistani song ‘Gore Rang Ka Zamana’ from ‘Vital Signs’ album. It started when a lot of Twitter users pointed out that the songs sounded alike.

Taking to Twitter then Mehwish wrote, "I find this strange. On the one hand, Bollywood vilifies Pakistan at every opportunity they get. On the other, they continue to steal our songs. Copyright violation and royalty payments obviously mean nothing to them.”

"Now can we wake up, smell the coffee and see Bollywood's agenda for what it is? Shah Rukh Khan, be patriotic, nobody is stopping you - just don't do it at the expense of vilifying us," she tweeted.

Mehwish has previously too been vocal about India banning Pakistani artists. In an opinion piece written for CNN earlier, she was quoted, "Indian PM Modi has arguably co-opted and weaponised the country's film industry. It's difficult, often impossible, for Pakistani actors to find work in India. Pakistan is a Muslim majority nation and Islamophobia is a top-down industry in India: at the top, hyper-nationalist films, songs and slogans teach the masses to hate. However, Gibbs was named in the South African Proteas ICC Champions Trophy in 2006, and he had to meet with Indian Police over his involvement in the match-fixing scandal.

Looks like Kashmir will be out of bounds for filmmakers in the following months to come after the repeal of Article 370 that has led to the region falling in a state of uncertainty. Prominent actors like Sanjay Dutt, Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt among others were scheduled to shoot in the state but their plans will now have to be put on hold.

Sidharth who will next be seen in ‘Jabariya Jodi’ with Parineeti Chopra, was supposed to start work on Captain Vikram Batra’s biopic ‘Shershaah’ that was supposed to be shot in the Valley. The film is directed by Vishnu Varadhan is written by Sandeep Srivastava as the movie is backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.

The shooting schedule has so far been pushed with no update on the new date.

Alia Bhatt was also supposed to start work in the Valley for her film ‘Sadak 2’ which had to have an important segment shot there. The film will have Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt and Makarand Deshpande, who essays the role of a godman in the movie.

‘Sadak 2’ will have Mahesh Bhatt on the directorial seat. The shooting is on hold for now.

Apart from these, there were supposed to be a couple of other films that were to start shooting in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Line producer Md. Abdullah of Hami Asto Productions, who arranges shoots in the Jammu and Kashmir regions, told IANS that two to three Bollywood films and one big Telugu movie were slated to arrive over the next few months for shooting. He said, “There were some big projects in line — two to three Bollywood films and one Telugu movie. Now, we can’t say if that will happen because of the disturbed environment. Maybe they will push the schedule or maybe they will go to a different location.”

“We just wrapped up the shoot of the Telugu film ‘Venky Mama’, which stars Venkatesh. They shot in Pahalgam and Sonmarg. The month-long shot was wrapped up in June. One big Bollywood film was supposed to start shooting in August-end. They all are stuck now,” added Abdullah.

On the loss to the respective producers, film and trade expert Girish Johar told IANS, “There is some unrest and confusion going on in Jammu and Kashmir. The government has taken measures. So, all the planned shoots in the region will be delayed for a while. It will not have much negative impact in terms of cost escalation, because productions of these films were yet to start. The cost would have been a problem had they started shooting in Kashmir, and were forced to come back. Now, there will be a nominal increase in cost.”

The Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Monday in Rajya Sabha that the government has decided to revoke the article which grants Jammu and Kashmir a special status. The central government also announced that that the region will be split into two Union Territories -- Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh.
Actress Alia Bhatt who is all set to kick start the second schedule of Mahesh Bhatt directorial 'Sadak 2', recorded the scratch version for a song which will feature in the film. In 2014, she had recorded an unplugged version of the song 'Main Tenu Samjhawaan Ki' for her film 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya'. "It is a romantic number and comes at a crucial point in the film, so Bhatt sir is being meticulous about it. The final track will be recorded only after the unit returns from their Ooty schedule in August," a source said. "While Jeet Gannguly's score is ready, the lyrics are still being worked upon. Jeet da wanted to understand Alia's pitch and voice modulation, so they decided to record the scratch. The lyrics will now be rewritten under the supervision of Mahesh Bhatt," the insider added. Film critic Taran Adarsh too shared a tweet confirming the same: Alia Bhatt - who is all set to kickstart the second schedule of #Sadak2 - recorded the scratch version of a song for the film... Music composer Jeet Gannguly has composed the song... #Sadak2 stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt. pic.twitter.com/QhVKxb1NqQ — taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) July 12, 2019 × The film, which is a remake of the 1991 blockbuster of the same name, will feature Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead roles. The actors will share the screen space with Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt, the main actors of the original flick. While the plot of the upcoming film is yet to be disclosed, the original film was a romantic thriller and revolved around the life of a young man who falls in love with a sex worker. The film is slated to hit the big screens on July 10, 2020.
