Referring to the reforms that were rolled out from 2020 June onwards, he said "Space reforms have unleashed the innovative potential of start-ups and within a short span of time, from a couple of Space Start-ups around three-four years back, today we have 102 start-ups working in cutting-edge areas of space debris management., nano-satellite, launch vehicle, ground systems, research, etc". The Minister added, with the integration of R&amp;D, Academia, and Industry with equal stake, it is safe to say that a Space Revolution led by ISRO along with the Private Sector and Start-ups is on the horizon.&nbsp;

On some of the major initiatives by the private sector and commercial space activities being carried out, he said that&nbsp;five PSLVs (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicles) are being produced by a partnership between Indian private firm L&amp;T and state-run Defence and Aerospace firm Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. In addition to this, UK-based telecom firm OneWeb is all set to launch its satellites through the Indian Space Research Organization and its commercial arm NSIL (New Space India Limited).&nbsp;

In view of recent global conflicts,&nbsp;Dr Jitendra Singh said that the dual-use nature of space technology is&nbsp;emerging as an important multi-faceted enabler that provides unprecedented reach.&nbsp;He added that many nations are today focusing on developing their military space capabilities to ensure its safe, secure, and friendly use along with deterrence capability to deny it to adversaries, when necessary.&nbsp;

This is being done to ensure that India's private industrial capability and capacity are effectively energised and channelized to develop cutting-edge solutions which would give the country a decisive edge over our others in times to come, he said.&nbsp;

The IMD further stated that 20 districts will experience thunderstorms in the coming two days.&nbsp;

As per the weather department, there is an upright cyclonic storm circulation in the northern part of Tamil Nadu along with its neighbouring areas to West Madhya Pradesh. It is anticipated that the heavy rainfall will continue for another four or five days.

While presenting the Union Budget for the year 2022-2023, India's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a National Tele Mental Health Programme, in view of 'long Covid', the phenomenon of coronavirus-related ailments remaining in patients long after they recover.&nbsp;

The government also informed about rolling out of an open platform for the National Digital Health Ecosystem.

Sitharaman said the programme will be launched to improve access to quality mental health counselling and also care services.&nbsp;

It will consist of digital registries of health providers and health facilities, unique health identity, consent framework and universal access to health facilities.&nbsp;

It's a huge step keeping the current situation and the uncertain future in mind — a step to normalise mental health awareness and an attempt to address the stigma around it.&nbsp;

When such steps are taken by governments at a national level, they will certainly bring about changes in the longer run, opening up a common platform for dialogue over the importance of mental health.

Another <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7468668/">study</a> published in SAGE Journal highlighted how the issue can be tackled. The conclusion part of the study "Mental health implications of COVID-19 pandemic and its response in India", which was published in September 2020 highlighted ways to tackle Covid's impact on mental health.&nbsp;

It stated that keeping a positive approach, developing vulnerable-group-specific need-based interventions with proper risk communication strategies can provide a robust system in the country.&nbsp;

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government brought up the issue of mental health while presenting the annual budget, a window has definitely opened to establish a healthy conversation.&nbsp;

What we can do in the future is to normalise it further, understand our health. Give priority to mental sanity. Tell our children why it is important. Also, keep a check of our surroundings, provide information to those who need it.&nbsp;

The rare mention of mental health in the budget has been hailed by the experts. Dr Girdhar Gyani, Director General, Association of Healthcare Providers (India), said the government's intent of focusing on setting up 23-mental health centres will be beneficial in general and more specifically for long Covid patients.&nbsp;

Dr NK Pandey, Chairman and Managing Director, Asian Institute of Medical Sciences, said the cases of depression and anxiety disorders witnessed an increase of about 25 per cent globally, and by 35 per cent in India alone.&nbsp;

"It is encouraging to note the government's attention to addressing the challenge of rising mental health issues in India and proposed to launch a National Tele Mental Health Programme.&nbsp;

"The budget, inculcating the fact that focusing on mental and emotional wellness is the need of the hour, itself talks about how progressive we are becoming in our approach as a nation, Pandey said.&nbsp;

How India took a huge step forward by announcing mental health initiatives in its budget

During a joint press conference, India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishnakar on Monday (October 10) declined to disclose India's stand on the upcoming draft resolution against Russia in the UN General Assembly.&nbsp;

He said, "As a matter of prudence and policy, we don't predict our votes in advance." He continues, "We have been very clearly against the conflict in Ukraine," PTI reported.

Jaishankar further added, " We believe that this conflict does not serve the interests of anybody neither the participants nor indeed of the international community. And as a country of the Global South, we have been seeing first-hand how much it has impacted low-income countries, the challenges that they are facing in terms of fuel and food and fertilisers."

The foreign minister said he agreed with what the Indian Prime Minister said at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit: that this is not the time for a war as it will affect everyone.

India till now hasn't condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine but has requested to solve the conflict through the matter of diplomacy and dialogue.&nbsp;Earlier this month, a draught resolution was presented to the UNSC to call for an immediate end to the violence while also stressing finding a resolution.

The diplomats said that the UN General Assembly is yet to decide on a draft resolution on Tuesday or Wednesday.&nbsp;

Russia-Ukraine has entered its seventh month. Till now the war has claimed the lives of thousands of people, forcing million to flee.&nbsp;

Several foreign countries have sent military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine and collectively showed their disagreement against Russia bypassing sanctions. Russia being the target has still not reversed its actions.&nbsp;

New Delhi raises ‘alarming’ issue of six Indian prisoners’ death in Pakistan within nine months

Pakistan Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa is in the last essay of his stint as the army leader. In the backdrop of the country going through its worst period, both on the economic and human front courtesy of the devastating floods, Bajwa is now batting for peace. Without naming India Bajwa called for the resolution of all bilateral ties.&nbsp;

“We must give peace a chance by developing a mechanism to resolve all our bilateral issues peacefully. Moreover, as opposed to fighting each other, we should collectively fight hunger, poverty, illiteracy, population explosion, climate change and disease,” &nbsp;said Bajwa at the passing-out parade at Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.&nbsp;

Bajwa, who is expected to retire after his extended six-year tenure in November, however,&nbsp;asserted that the desire for peace must not be construed as weakness.&nbsp;

“I must highlight here that our desire for peace must not be construed as our weakness. No one should make any mistake about our collective resolve to defend our core interests and every inch of our motherland,” he added.&nbsp;

“We are trying our best to break the political logjam which has denied the countries of South Asia to move forward and resolve all regional and bilateral issues in a peaceful and dignified manner.”

However, experts were not too amused with Bajwa's call. Indian Army's&nbsp;Lt Gen (Retd) Syed Ata Hasnain stated it wasn't the first time that Bajwa had came up with such lofty statements.

"This is not the first time that General Bajwa has talked about peace with India. But the follow-up has hardly been evident," Lt Gen (Retd) Syed Ata Hasnain told WION.&nbsp;

"Whenever you speak about these things, it must be followed with executive direction and some kind of demonstration which unfortunately has been missing," added the army veteran.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

While Bajwa batted for a peaceful resolution of the relations, he didn't bring Kashmir into the conversation which experts believe was a rarity from the Pakistani army chief.

In April earlier this year, Bajwa had worked the peaceful resolution of disputes between the two neighbours into his speech but added the Kashmir caveat again.&nbsp;

“Pakistan continues to believe in using dialogue and diplomacy to resolve all outstanding issues including the Kashmir dispute and is ready to move forward on this front if India agrees to do so,” Bajwa said.&nbsp;

While Bajwa may have toned down his rhetoric, it was during his tenure that India-Pakistan had come perilously close to a war after the&nbsp;dastardly Pulwama attack&nbsp;in 2019.&nbsp;

“Creation of this branch would result in savings of over ₹3,400 crore due to the reduced expenditure on flying training,” the IAF chief said.

Chaudhari added that drones, swarm drones, hypersonic weapons, and space-based ISR systems have added a new dimension to warfare. 
 
"Artificial intelligence is being used for a quicker decision making and analysis of big data. I am happy to report that several projects are well underway to utilise the potential of automation, data analytics, and artificial intelligence to transform our operational philosophy," he said. 
 
Air Chief Marshal also announced that IAF is planning induction of women Agniveers from&nbsp;next year. 
 
A formal parade was held at the air force base to mark the day. A march-past was conducted after the Air Chief Marshal had inspected the procession.

Senior IAF officers in attendance were Air Marshal Sreekumar Prabhakaran, Air-Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Air Command.

US envoy, during visit to PoK, refers to the region as ‘Azad Kashmir’, stirs controversy

In response to UK home secretary Suella Braverman's assertion that the Migration and Mobility Partnership (MMP) had not "worked very well," India pointed out that it had taken the initiative in all cases brought to it under the pact.

The Indian High Commission in the UK stated that India is waiting for "demonstrable progress" on some of the commitments made by the UK government under the MMP, which was signed last year, in response to a&nbsp;PTI inquiry about Braverman's interview in The Spectator&nbsp;that labelled Indians as the "largest group of people who overstay" their visas in the UK.

"As part of our wider discussions under Migration and Mobility, the Government of India is committed to working with the UK government to facilitate the return of Indian citizens who have overstayed their visa period here in the UK," the High Commission of India statement said on Thursday.

"As per the data shared with the home office, as of date, action has been initiated on all of the cases referred to the High Commission. Further, the UK has also undertaken to fulfil certain commitments as part of the Migration and Mobility Protocol, on which we await demonstrable progress," it said.

The High Commission underlined that any future agreements would be advantageous to both parties in response to Braverman's contentious remarks about having "reservations" over visas on the planned Free Trade Agreement (FTA) that is currently being negotiated between the two sides.

"While certain issues pertaining to Mobility and Migration are currently under discussion as part of these negotiations, any comment on these matters may not be appropriate given that the negotiations are underway, and that any arrangement will include issues of interest to both sides," the High Commission said.

The UK home secretary, who is of Indian descent, assumed office last month.&nbsp;Braverman&nbsp; said she had "concerns" about the FTA with India because she feared what she called a "open borders" migration policy.

Braverman's claim that the MMP has not performed as expected is taken as a clear sign that she will most likely refuse to receive Cabinet approval for any visa waivers for India as part of an FTA.

This would put her in conflict with Liz Truss, the British Prime Minister, who is eager to meet the Diwali target for an FTA with<a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/he-has-potential-of-yuvraj-singh-to-hit-six-sixes-dale-steyn-lauds-sanju-samson-after-lucknow-odi-523252"> India </a>as one of her signature trade agreements since assuming office. This year, Diwali falls on October 24.

On the Indian side, any trade agreement must take into account how easy it is for professionals and students to move around.
