IPL 2018: Match preview of Hyderabad vs Mumbai

Hyderabad and Mumbai had contrasting starts to their IPL 2018 campaigns this year. 

While SRH cruised to a nine-wicket victory against Rajasthan, Mumbai lost its opening match to Chennai as the franchise pulled off a grand heist to hand a heart-breaking one-wicket loss.

Hyderabad ticked all the right boxes in their previous match. Their ground fielding was exceptional. Their bowlers came together in an effective amalgam to restrict Rajasthan at a low score.

Hyderabad's Siddharth Kaul and Shakib Al Hasan led the way with figures of 2 for 17 and 2 for 23 respectively.  

Batsman Shikhar Dhawan blazed through to an unbeaten half-century to take them over the line with skipper Kane Williamson. The two had put up a 121 runs partnership to give Hyderabad its first win in the eleventh edition of the cash-rich tournament. 

On the other hand, Mumbai didn't have an ideal start with their openers Rohit Sharma and Evin Lewis struggling to make runs. 

Their middle order batsmen Ishan Kishan (40) and Suryakumar Yadav (43) stood up and saved the team from drowning. 

But it was Krunal Pandya's 22-ball 41 that really propelled them to 165 that brought them back into the game. 

Mumbai were even ahead in the contest reducing CSK to 118 for 8 at one stage with debutant Mayank Markande picking up three wickets, along with Hardik Pandya, to put the hosts in the driver's seat.

But it was Dwayne Bravo's knock that took the match away from Chennai and it would not be wrong to say that their bowlers failed to find the good length.

Therefore, they will have four quality pacemen running in, with the luxury of having Kieron Pollard chipping in, on a wicket that will hold them in good stead.  

And Hyderabad's key will be in sustaining the winning momentum. Their bowlers and batmen Dhawan and Williamson have to display the same energy in order to build pressure on defending champions Mumbai.
