A case of alleged conversion and inter-religious marriage is snowballing into a big controversy in the Kashmir valley. Three girls from the Sikh community had gone missing after they eloped with Muslim men. One of the girls has been traced by Jammu and Kashmir police and handed over to the family.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>

<o:p>&nbsp;</o:p>The Sikh community took out many protests In Srinagar demanding the other two girls to be traced and handed over to the families. They also demanded for a change in conversion laws. The issue is also in the notice of Lieutenant&nbsp;Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and the home ministry. &nbsp;<o:p></o:p>

The family of a Sikh girl in Srinagar's Rainawari area of downtown filed a report with the police saying their&nbsp;daughter was abducted. The police later arrested both the daughter and her husband. When produced in the court, the judge decided that the girl is an adult and has the right to go wherever she wishes to. Although the man was taken into custody while the girl was taken by her parents.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>

Soon after the judge's direction, the Sikh&nbsp;community took out protests in Srinagar alleging that the decision&nbsp;was biased. They also allege that the parents of the girl were not allowed inside the courtroom while the man's family was. Police say ''the matter is being investigated''.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>

The father of the girl said that we are under a lot of stress and there is no one to listen to our problems. He says the government should provide us security so that we feel safe.<o:p></o:p>

''This girl is a minor, she just turned 18 two months ago, last year she had brain surgery after she developed a clot. We had repair work going on, and he was working as a labourer here renovating my house. He knocked on my door, he pushed and kicked me and took my girl away. He said if you shout I will kill you with my pistol. There was a car waiting outside and He took my girl away. We went to the police in the early morning. And later police said we have traced the girl from the jungle and took her to the women police station. They didn't allow us to meet until they took us to court. And they didn't even allow us to enter the courtroom. They gave us the girl at 11;30 pm. We don't&nbsp;feel safe and no one listens to us.'' said Rajinder Singh Bali, father of the girl.<o:p></o:p>

Akali Dal Leader and Delhi Gurdwara committee&nbsp;president, MS Sirsa flew down to Srinagar&nbsp;to take stock of the situation.

He, while speaking to the media said. ''four girls have been forcefully&nbsp;converted, an 18-year-old girl was married to a middle aged man and we were told that she married of her own choice. The district judiciary also did not&nbsp;give any justice, he didn't even allow the parents of the girls to come inside the courtroom. The middle-aged man's whole relatives were inside the courtroom so that the girl was under pressure to give her statement against the parents. Leaders of our community world wide have condemned this act. We have written to the governor also, not only asking the government to handover these girls back to their families but also bring in changes&nbsp;in the law. We are sad that the majority community is not standing with us right now. ''<o:p></o:p>

While the Sikh community leaders and members said that if the government doesn't&nbsp;take action in&nbsp;these cases, the youth of the community will tackle the situation themselves.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>

''Two girls were taken to court after their statement, they were converted. One is an 18-year-old girl who was taken by a 45-year-old man, who had twice married before. We want this to stop. We have a very small population, around 60 thousand. The brotherhood between the majority committee has always been there and we want them to intervene and return our daughters. We want conversion laws to be made here too. The girl's family wasn't allowed to come inside the court. We appeal to the leaders here also to come forward to stop these things. If the government doesn't&nbsp;do anything our youth are ready to tackle the situation. Baldev Singh, President Sikh Committee, Srinagar.<o:p></o:p>

The members of the majority community also came forward and were seen protesting and asking the government to handover the girls to their parents as soon as possible.

&nbsp;''We are protesting here even if I am alone with my daughter here. We will protest even if there are not many people. We want Sikh girl back at any cost. Sikh brothers have stayed with us through thick and thin and we will too. I am a common citizen and I couldn't see my Sikh brothers and sisters protesting alone. We all should protest for this. These Sikhs are the same who came to our rescue during floods,'' said a local citizen.&nbsp;

Alert Army troops fired at two drones found hovering over the Ratnuchak-Kaluchak military areas, a defence spokesperson said on Monday, a day after two drones dropped bombs at an IAF station. &nbsp;&nbsp;

One drone was spotted at 11.45 pm on Sunday night and the other at 2.40 am, the officials said. Both drones 'flew away' after alert sentries fired at them. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Earlier, official sources said that the sentries had swiftly opened fire on noticing the drones to bring them down. &nbsp;&nbsp;

They said the whole area outside the military station was cordoned off immediately and a massive search operation was going on when the last reports were received. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Nothing objectionable was found on the ground, the sources said. &nbsp;&nbsp;

The latest incident comes barely a day after a drone, in a first-of-its kind strike, dropped two bombs at Indian Air Force (IAF) station here, causing minor injuries to two personnel.

Twitter has&nbsp;shown Jammu &amp; Kashmir as a separate territory from India.

It is not the first time the social media network has violated the territorial integrity of India. In November last year, the government of India had issued a notice to Twitter and threatened legal action after Twitter showed the Union Territory of Leh as part of China.

The social networking giant had to tender a written apology back then.&nbsp;

Twitter's&nbsp;latest move comes in the backdrop of its face-off with the Indian government over the new IT rules. The Delhi High Court has refused to stay the new IT rules which require compliance by social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook to combat online abuse, misinformation and child pornography.&nbsp;

According to the amended rules, social media and streaming companies will be required to take down contentious content quicker, appoint grievance redressal officers and assist in investigations.

India abolished Article 370 and the special status to J&amp;K in August 2019 to fully integrate it with the rest of the country. J&amp;K was divided into two Union territories of Jammu &amp; Kashmir and Ladakh to aid social development in the region.

Twitter, however, has once again violated India's sovereignty by showing J&amp;K as a separate territory. It has even shown the Ladakh region as part of China, a country in which Twitter remains banned.

According to the US military, three targets were hit by US fighters which included two in Syria and one in Iraq which were allegedly used as installations to launch unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks against US personnel in Iraq.

US defence spokesman John Kirby said Kataeb and Kataeb Sayyid al-Shuhada the two Iraqi outfits which reportedly has close ties with Iran were attacked by US fighter planes.

The attacks were given the green signal by President Joe Biden which was the second time the new administration has allowed since taking over in January this year.

"Given the ongoing series of attacks by Iran-backed groups targeting US interests in Iraq, the president directed further military action to disrupt and deter such attacks," Kirby said.

Kirby added that the US strikes targeted operational and weapons storage facilities in Syria and Iraq.

In February, the US had struck eastern Syria in which at least 20 fighters were reportedly killed. The strikes come even as Iran and Western officials continue their dialogue to operationalise the 2015 nuclear deal after the previous Trump administration had walked from the deal citing violations by Iran and had imposed harsh sanctions against the country.

President Biden is set to meet President of Israel Reuven Rivlin in the White House today. The Israeli government had stated that it would oppose any deal between the Western power and Iran over the nuclear deal.

(With inputs from Agencies)

Just a few days after being appointed as the interim resident grievance officer for Twitter India, Dharmendra Chatur has stepped down from his position.

Twitter’s website no longer shows his name, as is compulsory under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021, which require every tech company to appoint a grievance officer.

Twitter has not responded to the matter yet. Currently, the contact information for a grievance officer in India mentions Jeremy Kessel. But Kessel is based out of San Francisco, United States.&nbsp;

Social media platforms, especially Twitter, have come under the radar and are expected to comply with the new norms. The government of India has warned Twitter multiple times over failure to comply with potential legal action.

On Friday, Union Electronics and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad briefly lost access to his Twitter account. He was unable to access his account for an hour due to an alleged violation of the US’ Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

After losing access for a while, Prasad took to Koo, an Indian-made platform to express his thoughts, calling the action by Twitter a “gross violation of the IT guidelines”.

Twitter no longer holds the status of an intermediary platform in India for not complying with the new guidelines. On multiple occasions, Prasad has pressed hard on the company to comply with new rules. Without intermediary status, the company no longer has a legal shield in India and could face prosecution over posts.

Recently, Twitter had announced the appointment of an interim Chief Compliance Officer in sync with new laws. The company added that the details would be shared with IT ministry directly.

The issue of domestically manufactured Covishield not being on the European Medicines Agency's (EMA) "virtual vaccine passport" list has been taken up by India.

EMA is the regulatory body that approves medical products in the bloc. The matter has also been raised with the French government by India.

At about 10.55 am., the maiden test of the new generation nuclear-capable ballistic missile Agni Prime was conducted from the Abdul Kalam Island's launching complex IV.&nbsp;

"Various telemetry and radar stations positioned along the eastern coast tracked and monitored the missile. The missile followed textbook trajectory, meeting all mission objectives with the high level of accuracy," according to a statement by the Ministry of Defence.

"Agni P is a new generation advanced variant of Agni class of missiles. It is a canisterised missile with a range capability between 1,000 and 2,000 km," the statement further added.

"It can hit targets up to a range of 2000 km and is very short and light in comparison with other missiles in this class. A lot of new technologies incorporated in the new missile," according to the DRDO officials as quoted by the news agency ANI.

Officials from the DRDO also stated that the new nuclear-capable missile is entirely built of composite materials and that the launch went off without a hitch.
