FIFA is facing sharp criticism from major fan groups after details of the 2026 World Cup ticket prices triggered outrage across Europe. According to information published by the Croatian football federation, the cheapest tickets for the World Cup final at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey will cost $4,185 (£3,120). This is more than five times what fans reportedly paid to attend the final stages of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Football Supporters Europe (FSE), a group that represents fans across the continent, called the pricing structure ‘extortionate’ and described it as a ‘monumental betrayal’ of loyal supporters. FSE said in a statement on their website,“Football Supporters Europe is astonished by the extortionate ticket prices imposed by FIFA on the most dedicated supporters for next year’s Fifa World Cup. This is a monumental betrayal of the tradition of the World Cup, ignoring the contribution of supporters to the spectacle it is.” Also read | Just 5 bowlers have 100 wickets across formats: Bumrah makes the cut, the rest will shock fans The federation’s published figures suggest that a fan aiming to follow their national team from the group stage to the final would need to pay at least $6,900 (£5,137.74) for match tickets alone. It has not been a happy last few weeks for Finnish football club FC Haka, having suffered relegation from the top flight and it has met with an unfortunate incident. They have won 14 of their last 16 matches in all competitions. "I am happy and we knew before the match the difficulties we were facing today," Emery told TNT Sports. "After the last matches, a lot of wars. Brilliant wars for us, after our victory against Arsenal, it is not easy to recover. Rodrygo gave Real, who were missing Kylian Mbappe, the lead just before the half-hour mark with a crisp shot across Gianluigi Donnarumma into the far corner. But academy product O'Reilly equalised just seven minutes later, reacting quickest to prod home the loose ball from inside the six-yard box after Thibaut Courtois had saved Josko Gvardiol's header. And Haaland was able to fire City in front from the penalty spot on 43 minutes after VAR intervened to punish Antonio Rudiger for wrestling the Norwegian forward to the ground to prevent him reaching a cross. It could have been worse for Real but Courtois redeemed himself somewhat for flapping at Gvardiol's header with a crucial double save to deny Haaland and Rayan Cherki in quick succession as the half drew to a close. Mohamed Salah was omitted from the squad that travelled to Italy for Tuesday's 1-0 Champions League win at Inter Milan following a blistering attack on manager Arne Slot and the club hierarchy after being left on the bench for last weekend's 3-3 draw at Leeds.

Liverpool great Steven Gerrard believes the club still need Mohamed Salah as he urged the star forward to "reverse away" from an extraordinary outburst where he accused the faltering Premier League champions of "throwing him under the bus". The Egypt international was omitted from the squad that travelled to Italy for Tuesday's 1-0 Champions League win at Inter Milan following a blistering attack on manager Arne Slot and the club hierarchy after being left on the bench for last weekend's 3-3 draw at Leeds. Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher labelled Salah a "disgrace" for his comments but Gerrard urged the player and management to reunite for the good of everyone at Anfield. "He's obviously really upset he's not playing, which I respect," former Liverpool captain Gerrard told TNT Sports. "A couple of lines about throwing people under the bus, wrong. Need to reverse a little bit away from that, to deal with that with the manager." Gerrard added bust-ups between players and management were nothing new. "I've seen this and I've lived it with (Luis) Suarez when he fell out with Brendan (Rodgers) face to face. I've been there and done it myself. I did the Salah statements in 30 seconds against (Manchester) United and got sent off," he explained. Salah's remarks sparked reports that Liverpool's third-highest goalscorer in history could leave Anfield in January despite signing a lucrative new contract in April. The 33-year-old posted a picture of himself training alone in Liverpool's weights room on Tuesday. Salah's outburst has piqued interest in Saudi Arabia with a source at the kingdom's Public Investment Fund (PIF) telling AFP it will do "whatever it can" to buy him. Dutch boss Slot tried to put the focus back on his side after Dominik Szoboszlai's controversial late penalty gave the six-time European champions all three points at the San Siro by saying "the ones that are here, they deserve all the credits". Salah is set to depart for the Africa Cup of Nations after next weekend's home Premier League match against Brighton. An unused substitute at Leeds, Salah told reporters at Elland Road: "I said many times before that, I had a good relationship with the manager and all of a sudden we don't have any relationship. "I don't know why but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn't want me in the club." Salah made his explosive comments in the midst of a dismal season for both him and Liverpool. He has played a key role in Liverpool's two Premier League titles and one Champions League triumph during his iconic spell on Merseyside. But he has scored just four goals in 13 Premier League appearances this season, with Liverpool 10th in the table. Liverpool’s legendary forward, Mohamed Salah, might have already played his last game for the club as his relationship with manager Arne Slot gets from bad to worse. Amorim's side recovered from their disappointing draw with lowly West Ham last week thanks to Fernandes' double and goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Mason Mount at Molineux. Jean-Ricner Bellegarde had cancelled out Fernandes' opener with Wolves' first goal in six games in all competitions and their first in the top-flight since October 26. But Mbeumo, Mount and Fernandes netted after the interval to clinch only United's second win in their last six matches. United suffered an embarrassing 1-0 home loss to 10-man Everton on November 24 and 10 days later boos greeted the final whistle following a 1-1 draw with West Ham at Old Trafford. With Amorim growing increasingly tetchy in recent weeks, it was essential that sixth-placed United avoided an embarrassing result against bottom of the table Wolves as they moved within one point of the top four. "I really enjoyed how we played the second half. We had good pace, good quality in the decisions. We finished the game and Wolves is in a difficult moment. It was a good evening," Amorim said. "I think we improved a lot. If you compare last season and this season we are creating so much more chances and scoring more goals and having more real situations of danger, so I'm really pleased with that." Wolves' eighth successive league defeat equalled their worst top-flight run since 1981-82 and left boss Rob Edwards still waiting for his first victory since arriving from Middlesbrough to replace the sacked Vitor Pereira in November. Wolves have just two points after 15 games and if they fail to win either of their next two against Arsenal and Brentford they will equal Sheffield United's longest winless start in the Premier League of 17 matches. Derby's Premier League record low of just 11 points in a single season is also under threat from dismal Wolves. Perfect response Diogo Dalot should have put United ahead in the opening moments when he raced clean through on goal, but the defender's tame shot was palmed away by Wolves keeper Sam Johnstone. Hundreds of angry Wolves fans boycotted the opening 15 minutes to protest against owners Fosun and executive chairman Jeff Shi. When they returned to their seats, the Wolves supporters saw their former forward Matheus Cunha have a shot blocked before United took the lead in the 25th minute. It was a shambolic goal in keeping with Wolves' wretched campaign. Andre's wayward back-pass was intercepted by Cunha and when he flicked the ball to Fernandes, the Portugal midfielder initially slipped over before recovering to poke a weak shot that somehow evaded Johnstone as it crept over the line. As boos rained down from furious Wolves supporters, United went for the kill and Cunha's strike was cleared off the line by Toti. United's focus briefly wavered and Wolves snatched their long-awaited goal in first half stoppage-time. Amorim's men couldn't clear a succession of crosses and David Moller Wolfe's pass was turned in at full-stretch by Bellegarde from 12 yards. But United provided the perfect response in the 51st minute. A flowing move cut through the Wolves defence as Mount's pass found Dalot and his unselfish cutback allowed Mbeumo to slot into the empty net. In the 62nd minute, Mount timed his run perfectly to meet Fernandes' cross with an emphatic volley from six yards. Fernandes' fourth goal this season put the seal on a one-sided contest as he stroked home an 82nd minute penalty after Yerson Mosquera handled. FIFA World Cup draw: France’s Deschamps excited by Mbappe-Haaland group stage clash

England coach Thomas Tuchel warned his side not to get carried away after Friday's draw for the 2026 World Cup placed his team in an apparently winnable group but left open the possibility of a hazardous run through the knockout phase. The German was appointed with the task of leading England to a first major men's tournament triumph in what will be 60 years since they won the 1966 World Cup on home soil. They were drawn in Group L along with Croatia -- who beat England in the semi-finals in 2018 on the way to losing the final to France -- Ghana, and rank outsiders Panama. "I am very excited. But Tuchel warned against attempting to plot a route from there to the final at the MetLife Stadium just outside New York City on July 19. "I played tournament football only in the Champions League at club level, but you cannot get carried away with building your way with who you are going to meet if you win the group, if you are second or whatever," said the former Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Bayern Munich coach. That would set England on the way to a possible last-16 tie against Mexico at the Aztec Stadium in Mexico City, where Diego Maradona destroyed English hopes in the 1986 quarter-finals. A quarter-final against Carlo Ancelotti's Brazil could follow, before a possible semi-final against Argentina, the defending champions, and then either France or Spain in the final itself. Beyond their potential opponents, England will also have to handle the possibility of playing in baking conditions, as well as having to travel vast distances in between games.
