Virat Kohli's childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma lauded his protégé and claimed that the star batter will not retire anytime soon and will feature in the 2027 ODI World Cup, in South Africa. Kohli is currently part of the Rohit Sharma-led India Test squad for the ongoing 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) versus Australia, in Australia.
Kohli started the BGT with a ton in Perth but failed in the next two Tests. Rajkumar is, however, not concerned with the batter's form and predicted two more centuries from his blade in the last two Tests. Further, he made a big claim on the 36-year-old's internatonal future.
Rajkumar told Dainik Jagran, "Virat Kohli is playing the best cricket of his career. He also scored a century against Australia in the first Test. I believe two more centuries will come from his bat in the next two matches. This is a player who has always enjoyed his game. When a player enjoys his game, he gives his best. Virat's form is not a matter of concern. This player knows how to bat in difficult situations and make the team win."

Opening batter Nathan McSweeney has been dropped after his scores of 10, 0, 39, 10*, 9 and 4 in the first three Tests. McSweeney has been replaced by rising star Sam Konstas following his amazing run in the domestic circuit.
Australia chief selector George Bailey explained the decision to drop McSweeney, stating that the move was intended to bring a "point of difference" to the squad. 
Bailey told cricket.com.au on McSweeney, "We remain confident Nathan has the ability and temperament to succeed at Test level in the future...It was a difficult decision to leave him out. It has clearly been a challenge at the top of the order for batters throughout the series, and we want to provide the option of a different line-up for the next two matches"
"Sam gets a call-up to the Test squad for the first time. His style of batting offers a point of difference and we look forward to watching his game develop further," he added.

Tony Buzbee, the attorney who is handling multiple lawsuits against music mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs, has been named in a lawsuit himself. The suit filed against Buzbee alleges that he infected a woman, identified as 'Jane Doe,' with a venereal disease.
Buzbee hit back at Jay-Z's Roc Nation, accusing the entertainment company of attempting to discredit him. Jay Z has also been accused by Buzbee of raping a minor along with Diddy during an MTV Awards afterparty in 2012. The rapper has denied the allegations.
The attorney stated that the accusations were "frivolous" and part of an effort to intimidate him from pursuing litigation against Diddy and the fellow rapper.

The lawsuit filed in New York Supreme Court alleges that Buzbee exploited the woman's trust, beginning with their online connection in 2018. According to a report in TMZ, the plaintiff claims that Buzbee pursued her romantically, inviting her to Houston for a dinner date and a show. Buzbee booked a room at a luxury hotel and convinced her to stay post the performance. The two then engaged in sexual intercourse. The lawsuit asserts that Buzbee failed to disclose a sexually transmitted disease, the specific nature of which is not stated in detail in the filing.
Later in the filing, the woman claims that upon returning home, she began experiencing discomfort in her private areas. She then went to the doctor, who informed her that she had contracted a sexually transmitted disease from her encounter with Buzbee. 
The woman, named as Jane Doe in the court papers, immediately contacted Buzbee with the news, and he apologised, seemingly unsurprised as if he already knew he had the infection.
She alleges that Buzbee asked her not to disclose her diagnosis to anyone and offered free legal advice as compensation. The woman claims Buzbee manipulated her into keeping his secret and she continued to keep her relationship with him.

Jay Z's name popped up in one of the revised lawsuits involving a Diddy accuser, who alleged that the two raped her at a VMA afterparty in 2012. In response to these allegations, Jay-Z criticised Buzbee and vowed to take stronger legal action. 
The Texas-based lawyer, in a statement to The Mirror, claimed that the campaign to discredit him and intimidate him from pursuing claims against Diddy has now become criminal.
“This latest case, like the others, is frivolous, laughable, and ridiculous and will be dismissed along with the others. It now seems that every other day there is another false claim filed, all of which are being ginned up by individuals working on behalf of or in concert with Roc Nation,” he said.
Meanwhile, the company Roc Nation was founded by Jay Z in 2006. Earlier in a statement, Jay Z accused Buzbee of blackmailing his legal team and said, "My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a 'lawyer' named Tony Buzbee. What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle. No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!"

Trump told NBC that the debt ceiling was a meaningless concept and that no one would know for sure what would happen if it were to someday be breached. 
“It doesn’t mean anything, except psychologically,” the president-elect added.

On Dec 19 (Thursday), the International Cricket Council (ICC) approved of a hybrid model for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 edition, which will be held in Pakistan -- the original hosts -- and a neutral venue (which will host the India games). In a statement released by the ICC, it also confirmed, "India and Pakistan matches hosted by either country at ICC Events during the 2024-2027 rights cycle will be played at a neutral venue."
This means that Pakistan will also not travel to India for their games during the 2025 Women's ODI World Cup and 2026 T20 World Cup (co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka). This has been done to solve the tussle between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as the two cricketing boards have been at loggerheads with regard to the Champions Trophy venue. After India denied travelling to Pakistan, hybrid model has been selected and will continue until the 2028 cycle.

In this regard, the ICC further reiterated in its statement, "This (the hybrid model) applies to the upcoming ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025 (hosted by Pakistan), set to be played in February and March 2025, as well as the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 (hosted by India) and the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 (hosted by India and Sri Lanka)."
The ICC has also confirmed that the 2028 Women's T20 World Cup will be held in Pakistan, where the hybrid model will be considered.
Talking about the Champions Trophy, the eight-nation mega event is set to kick off on Feb 19 next year. The final schedule will be out in the coming weeks.

In a statement released by the ICC, it also confirmed, "India and Pakistan matches hosted by either country at ICC Events during the 2024-2027 rights cycle will be played at a neutral venue." This means that Pakistan will also not travel to India for their games during the 2025 Women's ODI World Cup and 2026 T20 World Cup (co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka). This has been done to solve the tussle between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as the two cricketing boards have been at loggerheads with regard to the Champions Trophy venue. After India denied travelling to Pakistan, hybrid model has been selected and will continue until the 2028 cycle. Talking about the Champions Trophy, the eight-nation mega event is set to kick off on Feb 19 next year. The final schedule will be out in the coming weeks.

But he’s far too experienced a director to get caught making parallels with our time. He lets the world of Gladiator II speak for itself, once again showing us who we are simply by inviting us to enjoy the crazy inflationary ride."
“Like the best long-awaited sequels, “Gladiator II” must be a remake and sequel in one, and it’s a testament to Scott’s brilliance that he manages to balance the individual pathos of the original with the expansionist demands of the sequel’s central theme, bringing a lifetime of experience in controlling tone. Scott raises the game with the staging of his action — his incredible, hyper-observant, multi-camera mise-en-scène (so different to the original) masterfully wrestles the action into clear and jaw-dropping sequence after sequence. Nolan had earlier hailed another sequel that was released in 2024—Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi epic Dune: Part Two. Nolan had called the film a “miraculous job of adaptation.” Taking the second half and making an incredible conclusion to the story," said Nolan, adding, "What a remarkable piece of work."
Nolan added, "If, to me, Dune was like Star Wars, then Dune 2 is The Empire Strikes Back, which is my favourite Star Wars film. I think it's just a great expansion of all that was introduced in the first one. What I was really struck by is the sense of immersion in that world," he continued.
Nolan shared, “It's a film that has so many unique images, so many things you've never seen before in this movie, time after time, and I was so struck by the detail of everything.”

A Shanghai court has ruled that a man is not required to return 300,000 yuan (US$40,000) given to him by his ex-girlfriend, who made the payment in an attempt to save their relationship after he discovered her affair with his nephew, according to the South China Morning Post (SCMP).
The man, Li, began a relationship with the woman, called Xu, in 2018. However, two years later, Li found out that Xu had been unfaithful to him and was having an affair with his nephew, as reported by the Shanghai Morning Post.

It determined that the money had been given voluntarily by Xu as a gesture to repair their relationship and did not constitute a gift contingent on marriage. The court concluded that Li was not obligated to return the money.
