<p>Consumers seeking repair of their clothing items would be paid from a 154 million euro fund set up to cover the&nbsp;period ranging from 2023-2028. Customers will be able to claim seven euros ($7.7) for getting a heel mended and 10-25 euros for getting their clothing items repaired.</p>

<p>Couillard added that "the goal is to support those who do the repairs," referring to those who do sewing and brands that offer repair services.</p>

Melburnians, on the other hand, topped the list for heroin, fentanyl, and ketamine use. Adelaide ranked highest for methylamphetamine use, while Darwin showed the highest levels of alcohol consumption. Hobart registered the highest consumption of cannabis and oxycodone.</p>

<p>The CMA had been the only major regulator agency in the world which opposed the deal between Microsoft and Activision vehemently. However, it seems to be offering rare concessions to the US tech giant following the setback to their American counterparts.</p>

<h2><strong>Why regulators are opposing the deal?</strong></h2>

<p>The $69 billion deal will see Microsoft acquire video gaming company Activision Blizzard. FTC is of the opinion that the deal will help Microsoft establish a monopoly in the gaming sector. <p>South Korean opposition lawmakers have raised objections over Japan’s plans of releasing Fukushima wastewater into the sea. Reuters quoted a group of South Korean lawmakers visiting Japan as saying on Wednesday that apart from the UN nuclear watchdog, more international organisations should be roped in for reviewing the controversial decision by Tokyo.</p>

<p>This comes after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) last week approved Japan’s plans of releasing more than a million tonnes of treated radioactive water into the sea, saying they were consistent with international safety standards and the release would have negligible impact on people and the environment.</p>

<p>“We are doing our best to persuade the government and this is why we are visiting Japan right now,”&nbsp;South Korean Democratic Party lawmaker Wi Seong-gon said while speaking at a press conference in Tokyo. His statement was also backed by eight parliamentarians from Japan.</p>

<h2><strong>South Korean President to meet the Japanese PM</strong></h2>

<p>South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is scheduled to meet Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Wednesday on the sidelines of the ongoing NATO summit in Lithuania. As reported by Reuters, the release of the Fukushima wastewater is expected to be the biggest agenda up for discussion.&nbsp;</p>

<p>South Korean government has so far trodden a fine line on the issue while respecting the decision by IAEA on the one hand, and acknowledging rising concerns at home on the other.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>China issues warning to Japan</strong></h2>

Researchers have recovered some nests from trees in Rotterdam in the Netherlands and Antwerp in Belgium made up of metal spikes and strips which are often attached to buildings to deter birds from making nests on the structures.</p>

<p>This shocking revelation led the scientists to further look for more such nests on the internet, and they managed to find two more, one in Enschede in the Netherlands and another in Glasgow.</p>

<p>“I didn’t expect this. These anti-bird spikes are meant to deter birds, they are supposed to scare them off, but on the contrary, the birds just utilise them,” Kees Moeliker, the director of the Natural History Museum Rotterdam, was quoted as saying by the Guardian.</p>

<p>Researchers noted that while crows used the metal spikes merely as a construction material, magpies went a step further. Magpies installed those metal spikes at the roof of their nests to prevent predators from settling in there.</p>

<p>The World Meteorological Organization observed on Monday that the beginning of July this year saw global temperature soaring to a record level. It comes hot on the heels of a record-hot June in a year where Europe has already been witnessing record droughts, with US and China facing extreme heatwaves.&nbsp;Experts believe the situation is exacerbated by an intense interaction of climate change and El-Nino weather patterns.&nbsp;</p>

<p>WMO noted that temperatures were breaking records both on sea and land, leading to devastating “impacts on ecosystems and the environment”.</p>

<p>According to several media reports quoting provisional data on global temperature records, the average global temperature on July 7 was 17.24°C, which was 0.3°C above the previous record of 16.94°C on August 16 2016. Notably, 2016 was also a strong El Nino year.</p>

The research, published in the journal <em>Nature Medicine</em>, highlighted that the majority of deaths occurred among individuals aged 80 or above. Additionally, approximately 63 per cent of those who succumbed to the heat were women.</p>
