<h2><strong>Work in progress for over one year</strong></h2>

<p>Last year, India’s Union Communication Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that India’s UPI and Rupay will be available in France soon. He made this announcement when an agreement was inked between UPI and France’s Lyra.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“The whole world is watching that India is doing 5.5 billion UPI transactions in a month. This is a big achievement for India. Today’s MoU with France is a big step towards the world,” the minister had said.</p>

<p>If the deal is executed as planned, the linkage will be launched by PM Modi from an iconic location in Paris during his visit.</p>

<h2><strong>How UPI is driving India’s digital payments revolution</strong></h2>

<p>The Economic Survey 2023, which was published earlier this year by India's Finance Ministry, said that UPI accounted for over 52 per cent of the total 8.84 billion digital financial transactions conducted in the fiscal year 2022-23.</p>

<p>According to the International Institute for Strategic Studies' Military Balance publication, Ukraine currently possesses around 82 fighter and attack jets. Sending these aircraft to Ukraine would involve significant diplomatic and logistical negotiations, making a swift agreement unlikely.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Australia recently revealed its plan to deploy an E-7A Wedgetail surveillance plane to Germany temporarily. The aircraft will be stationed there for six months and will be responsible for monitoring supply routes that connect to Ukraine.</p>

‘It’s complicated': Australia snubs Ukraine’s request for fighter jets

<p>US billionaire Elon Musk and Twitter have been slapped with a $500 million lawsuit over alleged non-payment of severance packages to ex-employees. The lawsuit was filed by law firm Sanford Heisler Sharp on Wednesday in US District Court for the Northern District of California on behalf of employees who were fired from Twitter post Musk's takeover.</p>

<p>The lawsuit seeks damages worth $500 million as well as directions for Twitter to “abide by all terms of the severance plan by paying all terminated employees what they are owed.”</p>

<h2><strong>Twitter’s severance plan gone for a toss</strong></h2>

<p>It is alleged that prior to Elon Musk's takeover of Twitter, the company had a severance plan in place for its employees, which was protected under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). According to the complaint, both Musk and Twitter assured employees that the benefits provided by the severance plan would continue even after the acquisition.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, the lawsuit claims that Twitter and Musk have failed to uphold their promise and have not paid the expected benefits to the terminated employees.</p>

China is maintaining communication with our belt and road partners on relevant issues,” said Wang Wenbin, the spokesperson for the ministry, on Wednesday.</p>

<p>“The regular incursion and stealing of safety components at the airports are carried out by a syndicate, consisting of some workers of the agencies, who have access to the restricted areas and accomplices from outside,” The PUNCH wrote quoting the unnamed source.</p>

So, it would be unfair to put this (the theft) on our (members of) staff and I don’t think there is any FAAN (member of) staff that wants the agency to crash.”</p>

<p>The United Nations, United States, and their allies, including France, strongly condemned the launch as well. The US National Security Council spokesperson, Adam Hodge, emphasised that this act flagrantly violates multiple UN Security Council resolutions and needlessly escalates tensions, posing a risk to regional security.</p>

<p>The use of solid fuel in missiles has notable advantages. Solid fuel is denser and burns quickly, resulting in rapid thrust generation. Additionally, it can be stored for longer periods without degradation or breakdown, which is a common problem with liquid fuel.</p>

<p>According to Vann Van Diepen, a former US government weapons expert currently affiliated with the North Korea monitoring project, 38 North, solid-fuel missiles are easier and safer to operate. They require less logistical support, making them more difficult to detect and increasing their survivability compared to liquid-fuel weapons.</p>
