The firefighters struggled for almost three days and late on Thursday, they confirmed that almost 90 per cent of the fire was finally under control and Machu Picchu did not suffer any damage.

“Thankfully, it has been possible to contain [the fire],” the mayor of the Machupicchu district, Darwin Baca León, told the Peruvian radio station RPP on Thursday.

The New York State Senate have passed a legislation on Friday that can allow them to ban people from carrying concealed guns in a “sensitive location” like Times Square and major public transportation. The bill was introduced during a special session of the senate, and it comes after Supreme Court ruled that people with “proper cause” are eligible to carry concealed weapons in the United States. Novak Djokovic clinically disposed of fellow Serb Miomir Kecmanovic as he continued his relentless pursuit of a fourth successive Wimbledon title with a 6-0 6-3 6-4 victory on Friday.

Djokovic, who is bidding for a seventh Wimbledon title, said he was happy with the tweak.

"All the other Grand Slams are playing in middle Sunday. I`m glad that Wimbledon has introduced that. I`m in favour of that rule change," he said.

And of his opponent, Djokovic said he will do his homework, although if he plays against the Dutchman like he did against Kecmanovic, it might well be a Sunday walk in the park.

"I`m sure he`s excited to play on a big stage. He doesn`t have much to lose," Djokovic said.

"He`s on his dream run. He`s a young player that is just starting so I`m sure his career will be very good."

The rain in the morning meant only 73 overs could be bowled on the opening day.

Having faced criticism for his struggles in white-ball cricket recently, Pant continued his love affair with the red-ball format by smashing his fifth century overall and fourth in overseas conditions.

The conditions and match situation was against him but he once again thrived on it to leave the opposition frustrated.

As only he could, he danced down the track against the great James Anderson, reverse scooped him but also played conventional strokes, including the straight drives and back foot punches, enroute to the fastest hundred (89 balls) by an Indian wicketkeeper.

Rain delayed the start of the second session by an hour and England were all over India soon after play resumed.

While Anderson did the damage in the morning, Matthew Potts got the prized wicket of an out of form Virat Kohli (11) and a shaky Hanuma Vihari (20) post lunch to put England on top.

Vihari was the first to go after Potts trapped him in front of the stumps with a full ball that darted back sharply. In his following over, Potts sent back Kohli, who dragged one on to his stumps in his half-hearted attempt to leave the ball.

Shreyas Iyer (15 off 11 balls), playing his first Test outside India, started on an aggressive note by collecting three fours off Potts. However, Anderson and the support staff had done their homework on Iyer, who has had issues against the short ball.

The 39-year-old pacer angled one around the rib cage area that induced a faint edge on way to Sam Billings, who took a brilliant one handed catch diving full-stretched to his left.

Phosphorus bombs are incendiary weapons which leave a distinct white trail after it is used, and it is banned under an international convention (although with the exception of some military targets).

The white trail is being used by the Ukrainian authorities as the proof that Russia used the banned weapon on Snake Island. Ukraine released a video that showed a plane drop bombs that leave a similar trail along with a statement that stated that Russia did not “respect even their own declarations.”

Ukraine had earlier accused Russia of using similar kind of weapons during the ongoing invasion of Ukraine including in civilian areas.

The abortion clinics in Kentucky were not carrying out the processes after Roe v Wade was overturned but the judgement by Jefferson County Circuit Judge Mitch Perry&nbsp;will be a massive boost for the women with scheduled appointments to go through with the procedure.

The judgement was instantly criticised by Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron who said that he will be challenging it. “We will do everything possible to continue defending this law and to ensure that unborn life is protected in the Commonwealth,” he said in a statement.

The other major development from the ongoing crisis has been the inclusion of Finland and Sweden into the NATO alliance. While Türkiye did have a number of objections to the NATO expansion, but they finally signed an agreement with the two countries to finalise the development.
