It is India's first meeting with Chinese officials after the Galwan Valley clash with Chinese troops in which 20 Indian soldiers had died last week.

"We welcome the special meeting, the victory over Nazism and fascism with more than 2 million Indians who fought the war. The medical mission of Dr Kotnis worked in China. India's contribution was not given proper acknowledgement and this injustice has to be corrected," India's foreign minister said.

Dr Kotnis was one of the five Indian physicians dispatched to China to provide medical assistance during the second Sin-Japanese war in 1938.

Pakistan's capital city Islamabad has reported over 10,000 cases so far. Amid the rising number of cases, authorities reported over 71,000 patients had recovered from the virus in the country.

Planning minister Asad Umar had earlier warned that the number of coronavirus cases in the country could double by the end of June and peak at more than a million infections.

"Expert estimates say the number of confirmed cases could go up to 300,000 by the end of June if we keep on flouting SOPs (standard operating procedures) and taking the problem lightly," said Umar said, adding,"We fear the number of confirmed cases could go up further to 1.2 million by end of next month."&nbsp;

The number of coronavirus cases shot up to 181,088 on Monday as the death toll due to the virus rose to 3,590 in Pakistan. The latest outbreak in China's sprawling Xinfadi wholesale market was detected in the salmon chopping boards amid fears of a second wave of coronavirus cases in China.

The virus which is believed to have first emerged from a market in Wuhan last year has once again put the spotlight on Chinese markets. Beijing reported 21 new cases of the virus in the last 24 hours taking the total number of cases to 158 in the past week ever since the virus was first detected at the Xinfadi market.

There were also reports of virus cases in Tianjin and Hebei which surrounds Beijing as authorities moved quickly to order residents not to leave the city and closed schools and shut airways in order to contain the virus.

The Xinfadi market reportedly supplies over 70 per cent of the city's fresh produce and attracts several hundred people everyday.

Last week, Chinese authorities moved to quickly to close not just the Xinfadi meat market but also the Jingshen seafood market amid rising number of COVID-19 cases.

Several police officers were deployed even as people turned up in large numbers to get tested as authorities called for mass testing, similar to Wuhan where millions were tested after new cases were discovered.

Chinese authorities had also closed down indoor sports and entertainment venues in the capital city as the WHO raised concerns.

Authorities also locked down 21 housing estates near Xinfadi which were reportedly linked to the Xinfadi outbreak.

The total number of cases due to virus stands currently stands at 3,80,532 including 1,63,248 active cases. The health ministry added that 2,04,711 patients were cured of the virus.

Meanwhile, the "intense"&nbsp;lockdown in Tamil Nadu's four districts including capital Chennai began on Friday. The lockdown is set to continue till June 30 in four districts. Chengalpet, Kancheepuram and Thiruvallur have also been put under&nbsp;lockdown.

Cuomo while talking to reporters said that New York has the virus under control but Florida and Texas do not including other states, therefore, if travellers get on the plane and land at JFK airport "this could start all over again. That's how we got here the first time."

New York till recently was the epicentre of the virus with the city on complete lockdown, however, as the number of cases declined Governor Cuomo ordered a slow unlocking of restrictions.

Florida had earlier ordered self-quarantine for at least 14 days for travellers from New York when the virus cases had begun to skyrocket in Big Apple in March.&nbsp;

On Thursday, New York reported 687 deaths from the virus which was the eighth day when the death toll was less than 1,000 even as the United States continues to grapple with the virus with 2,187,876 infection cases and 118,381 fatalities.

Amid the growing number of cases with at least 20 US states experiencing rebound of COVID-19 cases, White House's chief infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci said: "I don't think we're going to be talking about going back to lockdown."

"I think we're going to be talking about trying to better control those areas of the country that seem to be having a surge of cases," Fauci asserted.
