Russian tourist’s video of harassment by petrol pump worker goes viral, police take action: Video

Thrill-seekers on Monday night (Dec 18), ignoring all danger warnings, reached at the site of a huge volcano eruption in Iceland, where boiling lava spewed into the sky. In the pictures, multiple cars can be seen queuing near the area to witness the rarely-seen eruptions.

The eruption started nearly 2.4 miles from the town of Grindavik at the Sundhjuka crater located on the Reykjanes peninsula. The eruptions started after multiple earthquakes forced thousands to evacuate the place last month as a state of emergency was declared by the country.

Speaking to Icelandic broadcaster RUV, scientist Magnus Tumi Gudmundsson, who reached the site on Tuesday morning (Dec 19) onboard a Coast Guard research flight, said that twice the amount of lava he had estimated had already spewed.

Gudmundsson added that the eruption is likely to continue with decreasing intensity but added that scientists have no estimate of how long it can last. "It can be over in a week, or it could take quite a bit longer," he said.

Just one month past the major upheaval in OpenAI – creator of ChatGPT – which left the world shocked as its founder Sam Altman was ousted only to rise like a phoenix, the man in the middle of all chaos found himself as the recipient of the title “CEO of the Year” in 2023 by Time magazine. With this Altman appeared to break all records of hitting highs and lows at the same time.

The year 2022 emerged as a playing ground for Microsoft-backed OpenAI which introduced to the world the artificial intelligence that not only created an existenial crisis for other technologies but also threatened the human society. At a time when the world seemed to be immersed in the debate over the potential and threats of AI and the need to introduce a policy for regulating the technology, Sam Altman suddenly was thrown out of his empire – leaving the world of technology in disarray.

In the most unexpected conclusive event, Altman came back to OpenAI on November 21 as CEO with a new initial board which included Bret Taylor, Larry Summers, and Adam D'Angelo. Brockman also made his way back to the startup. In his first firm step after returning to power, Altman sacked almost the entire pre-existing board which had conspired against him.

Why Altman was fired by the board?

In the official announcement, Open AI's board members had said that Altman was fired because “he was not consistently candid in his communications with the board” and was thus “hindering its ability to exercise its responsibilities”. Miscommunication was held as the biggest reason behind Altman's sudden dethroning, but some reports also suggested that he was becoming fearful for many.

NASA shared footage of two tiny tomatoes which were lost in space in 2022 after they were harvested by astronaut Frank Rubio on the International Space Station.
When the tomatoes were discovered in the six-bedroom complex, it showed scientists how the 17 per cent humidity onboard has been affecting food present in a Ziploc bag. For some time, Rubio had stowed the food inside which had floated away later.
7 Foods Which Appear To Be Healthy But Are Not

The digestive biscuits contain refined flour and sugar which leaves them with no difference than any other sugary biscuits.

Foods like diet khakhra, diet chivda and other such crunchy snacks are fried and contain a lot of calories.

Granola Bars are seen as ‘heroes’ of healthy snacking but actually, have preservatives and calories which might not be healthy.

Breakfast cereals are considered as ‘health-promising’ but actually contain more sugar than the morning coffee.

The whole wheat brown bread is not any different from the white bread and its colour just creates a healthy illusion.

Peanut butter is loaded with calories and contains unhealthy oils which doesn’t make it healthy.

Packaged Juices have zero fruit content and contain high amounts of sugar which makes them unhealthy.

6 Health Benefits of Drinking Guava Leaf Tea in Winters

Guava Leaf Tea helps in losing weight quickly by stopping complex carbohydrates from turning into sugars.

The drink also helps in reducing the absorption of glucose in the bloodstream by inhibiting multiple enzymes which can transform carbs into glucose in the digestive tract.

As per studies, lycopene which is found in guava is a powerful antioxidant which reduces the risk of cancer, especially the one afflicting breast, oral and prostate.

Guava Leaf tea helps in strengthening the body’s immune system which decreases the chances of contracting some diseases.

Guava leaves have antibacterial qualities which help stop microbial growth in the intestines and decrease the creation of excess mucus that can irritate the digestive tract.

Guava leaves are a kind of astringent which helps in toning and tightening the muscles of the face.
It took nearly five years to remove the bones from the stone in which they were buried. The 6-metre-long creature's formal description has now classified it as mosasaur's whole new species, called Megapterygius wakayamaensis.

It has proved a challenge for scientists to figure out how they swam or hunted. "We lack any modern analogue that has this kind of body morphology – from fish to penguins to sea turtles," said palaeontologist Takuya Konishi from the University of Cincinnati. "None has four large flippers they use in conjunction with a tail fin,” he added.

Mosasaurs were among the greatest predators of all time which stretched up to 17 metres in a few cases. For around 20 million years, these fearsome beasts had been reigning in the ocean as the last of the great marine lizards.
