At the same time, we are always there to prevent violence and to push back against hatred.”</p>

Canadian PM Justin Trudeau responds on Khalistan extremism, says 'will push back against hatred'

<p>Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, on Sunday (September 10), said that leaving the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), also known as Silk Road, will not jeopardize her country's relations with China, further stating that the decision on this matter has yet to be taken, as per Italian media reports.</p>

<p>On the sidelines of the G20 Summit, the Italian PM met Chinese Premier Li Qiang and conveyed her plan to pull out of the BRI, as per the Italian media, Corriere della Sera daily reports.</p>

<p>During the press briefing on the last day of the G20 Summit, Meloni spoke about the conversation she had with the head of the Chinese government.</p>

<p>"A cordial and constructive dialogue on how we can deepen our bilateral partnership... I intend to keep my commitment to visit China... It makes more sense to go to China when we have more information on our bilateral cooperation and how to develop it," Meloni said at the conference.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Leaving the Silk Road does not compromise relations, but the decision still has to be taken," the prime minister assured.</p>

<p>However, one last attempt was made by Li Qiang in order to prompt the Italian authorities to think their plan over again.</p>

<p>It is pertinent to note that Italy was the only G7 country to have signed up for the BRI, a global trade and infrastructure plan modelled on the old Silk Road that linked imperial China and the West.</p>

<p>At the conference, PM Meloni also talked about Africa and said that the country was central to the work of the G20. "We also consider this to be our success. <p>Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency released the names of two pilots and one flight attendant who lost their lives in the deadly crash. The agency cited the airline to confirm that Captain Aleksei Levshin, co-pilot Rustam Karimov, and flight attendant Kristina Raspopova died.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The agency also released the names of those who were onboard, apart from Prigozhin. The list includes Sergey Propustin, Evgeniy Makaryan, Aleksandr Totmin, and Nikolay Matuseev. Two names stood out — Valeriy Chekalov and Dmitry Utkin. &nbsp;</p>

<p>In a video that was released late last month, Prigozhin could be seen speaking about speculations over his well-being and possible threats to his security. He said that he was in Africa.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the short video published by the Grey Zone Telegram channel which is linked to his Wagner Group, Prigozhin is seen sharing: "For those who are discussing whether I'm alive or not, how I'm doing - right now it's the weekend, second half of August 2023, I'm in Africa."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"So for people who like to discuss wiping me out, or my private life, how much I earn or whatever else - everything's ok," he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While decoding the details of the video, it was found that it was indeed filmed in Africa as his camouflage attire, hat, and the watch on his right hand matched his appearance in a video released on August 21, which he also claimed was filmed in Africa. WION can't independently verify the video.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The reference to "weekend" in the video implied the latest clip must have been made on August 19 or 20, just three or four days before Prigozhin and other top Wagner figures and bodyguards were killed in the crash.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kremlin has denied any involvement but there have been claims and counterclaims. However, Prigozhin's comments in the video reflect his awareness of the risks to his life.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Biden warmly greeted the crown prince and both appeared together at the G20 summit along with the other leaders where they had gathered to announce a plan to build a rail and shipping corridor that would link India with the Middle East and Europe.</p>

<p>As the announcement wrapped up, Biden smiled and publicly shook hands with the crown prince.</p>

<p>Last year, Biden had faced harsh criticism for sidestepping a handshake and instead going for a fist bump to greet the crown prince in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.&nbsp;</p>

<p>For the awkward encounter, Biden was also denounced by human rights activists, who weren't happy with his decision to meet the Saudi prince in the first place.</p>

<p>MBS has over the years been harshly condemned for constantly violating human rights. He has also been accused of being behind the killing of US-based journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who was a tough critic of the kingdom’s ruling family.</p>

<p>As per reports, US intelligence officials claim that he had ordered the assassination of Khashoggi, who was a contributor for The Washington Post.</p>

<p>Biden refused to speak to Prince Mohammed at the start of his administration. As a presidential candidate in 2020, Biden said he wanted to make the Saudis “pay the price and make them in fact the pariah that they are.”</p>

<p>India and the United Kingdom are negotiating a Free Trade Agreement, talks for which had begun in the year 2022. The 12th round of negotiations for the UK-India Free Trade Agreement (FTA) took place from August 8 to 31 this year.</p>

G20 Summit: PM Modi holds bilateral talks with UK PM Rishi Sunak

<p>A Georgia grand jury recommended criminal charges against Republican U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham and other allies of Donald Trump as part of its investigation into efforts to overturn Trump's 2020 presidential defeat, said a report released on Friday.</p>

<p>None were ultimately charged when Georgia prosecutors filed a sweeping criminal case against Trump and 18 alleged co-conspirators.</p>

<p>The special grand jury recommended charges against Graham as well as Georgia's two U.S. senators at the time, Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, the report said. Like Trump, all are Republicans.</p>

<p>Graham, a Trump rival turned golf buddy, denied wrongdoing and said he was fulfilling his oversight duties as the top lawmaker on the Senate Judiciary Committee when he asked Georgia officials to examine absentee ballots after Trump's defeat.</p>

<p>"We can't criminalize senators doing their job," he said at a news conference in South Carolina on Friday. "The next election, if I have questions I'll do the same thing."</p>

<p>The panel also recommended charges against Trump's former national security adviser Michael Flynn, adviser Boris Epshteyn and lawyers Lin Wood and Cleta Mitchell, the report showed.</p>

<p>It was unclear why Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis opted not to bring charges against the six people, and her office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.</p>

"I'm not quite sure why my name is in it," he told Reuters. He has since retired in the face of disciplinary bar proceedings.</p>

<p>Mitchell, another conservative lawyer who worked to reverse Trump's defeat, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.</p>

<p>The special grand jury convened in 2021 at the request of Willis to aid her investigation. Over several months, the jurors subpoenaed testimony from 75 witnesses, including Trump allies such as his former attorney Rudy Giuliani, Graham and top Georgia officials such as Governor Brian Kemp.</p>

<p>The special grand jury did not act unanimously.</p>

<p>It voted 13-7, 14-6 and 17-4 in favor of indicting Graham, Loeffler and Perdue, respectively. There was one abstention in each of the votes for Graham and Loeffler. The grand jury voted 20-1 in favour of indicting Trump with respect to the national effort to overturn the election.</p>

<p>The indictment listed 30 unindicted co-conspirators, who have not been charged but allegedly played a role in the scheme.</p>

<p>Despite his legal troubles, Trump remains the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination next year against Democratic President Joe Biden, the incumbent.</p>

<p>The special grand jury report remained secret at Willis's request while she determined what charges to bring. With the indictments issued, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney ruled there was no longer any reason to keep it from the public.</p>

Georgia grand jury recommended charging Lindsey Graham, other Trump allies

<p>Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday (September 9), launched the Global Biofuels Alliance in the presence of United States President Joe Biden, President of Brazil Luiz Inacio, President of Argentina, Alberto Fernández and Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni.</p>

<p>Earlier in the day, PM Modi had announced the launch of the Biofuel Alliance and urged the G20 nations to join the initiative with a petition to take ethanol blending with petrol globally to 20%.</p>

<p>"Today, the need of the hour is that all countries should work together in the field of fuel blending. Our proposal is to take an initiative at a global level to take ethanol blending in petrol up to 20%," he said.</p>

<p>"Or alternatively, we could work on developing another blending mix for the greater global good, one that ensures a stable energy supply while also contributing to climate security," PM Modi said at the session attended by U.S. President Joe Biden, Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak among others.</p>

<p>The Global Biofuel Alliance is one of the priorities under India’s G20 Presidency. The leading biofuel producers and consumers, Brazil, India, and the United States, will work together during the next few months towards the development of a Global Biofuels Alliance along with other countries that are interested.</p>

<p>The alliance will work towards enriching global collaboration and partnership for the accelerated adoption of biofuels by recognising global best practices for the development and deployment of sustainable biofuels and bioproducts. Nineteen countries agreed to stand with India as initiating members of the Global Biofuels Alliance.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, while addressing a joint press conference on Saturday, said that the declaration aims at accelerating progress on Sustainable Development Goals and has hence come up with an action plan.</p>

<p>“The declaration the leaders have agreed on today focuses on promoting strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive growth. It seeks to accelerate progress on SDGs and has come up with an action plan accordingly,” the minister said. &nbsp;</p>

<p>“It envisages a green development pact for a sustainable future, it endorses high-level principles on lifestyle for sustainable development, voluntary principles of hydrogen, the Chennai principles for a sustainable resilient blue economy and the Deccan principles on food security and nutrition among others,” he added.</p>

<p>Expressing pride for his ‘Hindu’ roots, Rishi Sunak had on Friday expressed his hope that he will find time to visit a temple, here in India, during his stay for the G20 Summit.</p>

<p>Sunak said that he has “enormous respect” for PM Modi and said that he is keen to support him in making G20 an enormous success.</p>

<p>Speaking exclusively to ANI, Rishi Sunak said, “I am a proud Hindu. That’s how I was raised, that’s how I am. Hopefully, I can visit the Mandir while I am here for the next couple of days. We just had Rakshabandhan, so from my sister and my cousin, I have all my Rakhis.”</p>

<p>“I didn’t have time to celebrate Janmashtami. But hopefully, as I said I can make up for that if we visit a Mandir this time,” he added.</p>

<p>He further said that faith is something very important as it gives strength and resilience during stress.</p>

<p>Earlier today, PM Modi held a bilateral meeting with his UK counterpart Rishi Sunak on the sidelines of the G20 Summit being held in the national capital under India's presidency. The meeting between the two leaders was held at the Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan, the venue of the Summit.</p>

<p>Talks between the two leaders followed their meeting held on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Hiroshima in May this year in which they had discussed the India-UK free trade agreement, innovation, and science along with ways to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries. The two countries are negotiating a Free Trade Agreement, talks for which talks had begun in 2022. In August this year, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and the UK’s Secretary of State for Trade Kemi Badenoch took stock of the FTA and agreed on ways to take the negotiations ahead. The 13th round of negotiations is due to take place in September.</p>

<p>Earlier on Saturday, PM Modi and Rishi Sunak participated in Session 1 on 'One Earth' during the G20 Summit. Sunak said that the world is looking to G20 to provide leadership and that the leaders are meeting at a time of enormous challenges. He expressed confidence that the leaders will together be able to address the challenges.</p>

<p>In a post shared on X, Sunak stated, "15 years ago, #G20 leaders came together for the first time to restore global growth after the financial crisis. We meet at a time of enormous challenges – the world is looking to the G20 once again to provide leadership. Together I believe we can address these challenges."</p>

<p>PM Modi welcomed world leaders, including US President Joe Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, UK PM Rishi Sunak, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and others as they arrived to attend the Summit at the Bharat Mandapam venue.</p>

<p>Rishi Sunak and PM Modi warmly greeted each other with 'Namaste' and shook hands. The two leaders also hugged each other as they posed for cameras.</p>

<p>Sunak, accompanied by wife Akshata Murty had arrived in Delhi on Friday. This is Rishi Sunak's first visit to India since he assumed the office of Prime Minister of UK in October last year.</p>

<p>India and the UK are bound by strong ties of history and culture, according to the Ministry of External Affairs. India’s multifaceted bilateral relationship with the UK intensified with its upgradation to a Strategic Partnership in 2004.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday (September 9), while addressing the second session 'One Family' of the G20 Summit said that India's presidency has been the most ambitious and action-oriented in all of the presidencies till date.</p>

<p>“With 112 outcomes and presidency documents, we have more than doubled the substantive work from previous presidencies. 2x-5x the number of outcomes and annexed documents as compared to previous presidencies. The Indian Presidency of the G20 has been the most ambitious and action-oriented in all of G20 Presidencies,” PM Modi said.</p>

<p>As per the official data released, India has had 73 outcomes as compared to countries like Indonesia, Italy, and Saudi Arabia, which have had 27, 36, and 22 outcomes respectively.</p>

<p>PM Modi on Saturday said that the consensus has been built on the New Delhi G20 Leaders' Summit Declaration and announced its adoption.</p>
