A bride has come up with an idea to overcome the disappointment that comes when the people don't show up at the weddings -&nbsp;a 'no-show fee'.

As per a report by the New York Post, an Australian bride considered imposing this fine after 10 guests cancelled at the last minute to her interstate wedding after sending their confirmations nearly six months ago.

The payment to the venue was non-refundable, as per the reports.

"It's now one week out from the wedding and I have already given the confirmed numbers to the venue and paid the outstanding amount, which was $12,426," the woman said while speaking on the "She's on the Money" podcast.

"Within the last week, ten guests, who had previously RSVP'd, said that they were coming and have now cancelled citing that it's too expensive for them to travel interstate," she added.

The woman further said that if she did not "scramble to cover their seats," she would be losing out on approximately $1,336.

"Is it reasonable to request that they cover these costs themselves?" she said.

The bride also said that the formal invites were sent to the guests in the month of January with the majority of attendees sending out confirmations in July.&nbsp;

She further shared messages from the people who did not make it to the wedding which read, "So sorry, I know we RSVP'd yes and the wedding is next week but we just can't afford to travel interstate at the moment."&nbsp;

The podcast's audience was left divided by the woman's take on the situation with many backing her decision saying that the guests should pay for their late cancellations.

"No one books flights for an interstate wedding the week prior. The guest is 100% at fault here and is not a nice friend for doing this," one listener said.&nbsp;

"Given they said YES in July - they had almost six months to ensure they could save for it. Very disappointing they committed to coming but then didn't plan to be able to afford it," a listener said.

"Any other investment other than relationships has cancellation policies lol, so it makes sense to me that you owe the couple money or at least it would be the right thing to do... if you cancel late," said another.

However, DFRAC, an independent fact-checking website, calling the screenshot fake, shared a post on X saying that the username in the viral post did not match the official account of Anwaar ul Haq&nbsp;Kakar.&nbsp;

It further said that the parody account had an extra 'k' in the username and that the verified symbol in the screengrab of the Pakistani PM was also fake as the last post that Kakar shared on his official X account was on Dec 16.

The Israeli army on Sunday (Dec 17) said that it had uncovered an unusually large concrete and iron-girded Hamas tunnel in the Gaza Strip, just a few hundred metres from a key border crossing.

As per news agency AFP, the size of the tunnel was such that small vehicles could easily travel inside it.

The Israeli army released a statement saying that the tunnel cost millions of dollars and took years to construct. The project they said was helmed by Mohamed Yahya, brother of Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar, who reportedly was the mastermind of the Oct 7 assault against Hamas.

"We're going to enter the biggest tunnel we found in Gaza. The biggest secret of Sinwar. His project. His subterranean tunnel project. We gonna enter. It was a secret, that we have revealed that was meant to target the (Erez) crossing," chief military spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said.

"Tunnel, the subterranean tunnel, constructed by Mohammed Sinwar. This is the Sinwar project tunnel that was meant to do a terror attack," he said.

Hagari put the full length of the tunnel at 4 km (2.5 miles), which was enough to reach the northern Gaza City, once the heart of Hamas governance and now a devastated combat zone.

The Israeli forces on Sunday said they had found tunnels under vacation homes in Gaza which were used by senior Hamas leaders along with another shaft located under a baby’s crib in the northern Strip, amid the ongoing offensive in the besieged Palestinian enclave, as per the Times of Israel reports.

The military said that they raided the offices of the commander of Hamas' Khan Younis battalion and the vacation homes of several senior Hamas commanders, including the Palestinian terror group’s leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar.

AI-based translation tool used during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech in Varanasi

Russian President Vladimir Putin, in an interview on Sunday (Dec 17), warned of problems with neighbouring country Finland after it joined NATO earlier this year.

Putin said that Moscow, in response, will create a new military district in the northwest part of Russia.

"They (the West) dragged Finland into NATO. Did we have any disputes with them? All disputes, including territorial ones in the mid-20th century, have long been solved," Putin told a state TV reporter.&nbsp;

"There were no problems there, now there will be, because we will create the Leningrad military district and concentrate a certain amount of military units there."

Finland, which shares a 1,340-kilometre (830-mile) border with Russia, joined NATO in April this year amid Moscow's Ukraine offensive.&nbsp;

Putin's remarks come after Finland, again this week, shut its border with Russia, condemning it for staging a migrant crisis on its border.&nbsp;

Moscow has forewarned of counter-measures in retaliation to Helsinki's NATO accession.&nbsp;

Finland's interior minister on Thursday (Dec 14) announced that the country would again shut its border with Russia after a spike in migrant crossings that Helsinki dubbed as Moscow's hybrid attack.

The Finnish border guard said Thursday that at least 40 people had crossed into Finland to seek asylum since the border was opened.

Russian President Vladimir Putin warns of 'problems' with Finland after NATO membership

The Enforcement Directorate has issued a fresh summons to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for questioning on December 21 in the excise policy-linked money laundering case, officials said Monday.

He was first called by the federal agency to appear on November 2, but he did not depose alleging that the notice was "vague, motivated and unsustainable in law".

The summons&nbsp;to Kejriwal, also the national convenor of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), pertain to questioning in the alleged Delhi excise policy case and for recording his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the officials said.

He has to appear at the ED headquarters on December 21, they said. The development comes days after Delhi government officials said Kejriwal will leave for a 10-day Vipassana meditation course at an undisclosed location from December 19.

AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh are among those arrested in this case by the ED and the agency is expected to file a supplementary chargesheet in the case soon.

After the first summons,&nbsp;AAP had alleged that Kejriwal would be arrested as part of the BJP's plan to target top INDIA bloc leaders ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and the ED notice was an attempt to finish the party that is in power in Delhi and Punjab.

The ED has mentioned Kejriwal's name multiple times in its chargesheets filed in the case and said the accused were in touch with him regarding the preparation of the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.

In one instance, the agency claimed in its charge sheet that it had recorded the statement of Butchibabu, an accountant allegedly linked to BRS leader K Kavitha, in which he said that "there was a political understanding between K Kavitha and chief minister (Arvind Kejriwal) and the deputy chief minister (Sisodia)."

"In that process, K Kavitha also met Vijay Nair (AAP communications in-charge arrested in the case) on March 19-20, 2021." In another instance involving arrested accused Dinesh Arora, the ED said he told it that he met Kejriwal once at his residence.

Similarly, the ED chargesheet said, YSRCP MP Magunta Sriniavasulu Reddy also held meetings with Arvind Kejriwal who welcomed his entry into the Delhi liquor business.

It had said that Buchibabu and another accused Arun Pillai have revealed that they and Vijay Nair were working with the "support and sanction" of Arvind Kejriwal and AAP leader and the then Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia for all excise policy-related activities, including formulation as well as implementation.

It had also alleged that Vijay Nair "arranged a video call through facetime (a video calling facility on iPhone) on his phone for another arrested accused Sameer (Mahandru) and Sh Arvind Kejriwal, where Sh Arvind said to Sh Sameer that, Vijay is his boy and that Sh Sameer should trust him and carry on with him."&nbsp;

Kejriwal had then rubbished the contents of the ED complaint saying it has "filed 5,000 chargesheets under the tenure of the current government."&nbsp;

"How many people have been sentenced? All the cases filed by ED are fake and they are used to topple governments or form them. ED does not file cases to eradicate corruption. They do it to buy MLAs, topple governments," Kejriwal had said.

It is alleged that the Delhi government's excise policy for 2021-22 to grant licenses to liquor traders allowed cartelisation and favoured certain dealers who had allegedly paid bribes for it, a charge repeatedly refuted by the AAP.

Fresh ED summons to Arvind Kejriwal for questioning in Delhi excise policy case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday (Dec 18) carried out raids at 19 locations across four Indian states in connection with the ISIS network and busted a "highly radicalised jihadi terror group."

The anti-terror agency arrested eight operatives of the banned terror outfit's Ballari module, including its leader Minaz foiling plans by the accused to carry out terror attacks, and IED blasts.

The searches also led to the seizure of explosive raw materials, such as sulphur, potassium nitrate, charcoal, gunpowder, sugar and ethanol, sharp-edged weapons, unaccounted cash, documents exposing terror plans, along with smartphones and other digital devices.

The 19 locations, where the raids were conducted, included Ballari and Bengaluru in Karnataka, Amaravati, Mumbai and Pune in Maharashtra, Jamshedpur and Bokaro in Jharkhand and Delhi.

As per the initial probes by NIA, the accused had planned on using explosive raw materials for the fabrication of IEDs which were to be deployed for carrying out attacks.

Investigations further revealed that the accused were constantly in touch with one another via encrypted applications and were planning attacks and recruiting youths, NIA said in a statement.

This comes a day after NIA raided multiple locations across Bengaluru, Karnataka, in a case related&nbsp;to the radicalisation of prisoners by a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist.

Six locations, including the houses of four accused, one of whom is still absconding, were extensively searched in the case last week, on Dec 13, as part of the anti-terror agency's continuing investigations into the case.

The raids were conducted at the premises of Mohammed Umar, Mohammed Faisal Rabbani, Tanveer Ahmed and Mohammed Farooq, as well as absconder Junaid Ahmed. Three accused are currently absconding in the case, registered under various sections of IPC, the UA(P) Act, 1967 and the Explosive Substances Act, 1884.&nbsp;

North Korea launched a ballistic projectile on Sunday (Dec 17), a statement by Seoul's army read, after the United States and South Korea warned any nuclear attack by Pyongyang would lead to the end of its regime.

Japan's defence ministry also stated North Korea launched "what appears to be a ballistic missile", with its coastguard adding that it seemed to have already fallen.

Kyodo News, citing unnamed Japanese government sources, said it was a short-range missile and had fallen outside Japan's Exclusive Economic Zone.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (Dec 18) inaugurated the newly-built Swarved Mahamandir,&nbsp;which is the world's largest meditation centre, in Umaraha, Varanasi.

While addressing the audience, PM Modi said that India has declared freedom from the slave mentality and is feeling proud of its heritage.

"In the era of slavery, the oppressors who made an effort to weaken India first targeted our symbols. After Independence, re-building of these cultural symbols was essential," he said.

Modi said that after the country gained Independence, "there was an opposition to the rebuilding of the Somnath temple and this thought process remained dominant for decades."

He said because of this, the country descended into an inferiority complex and somehow ignored the rich heritage it possessed.
