At the HCA Film Awards, presented by the Hollywood Critics Association, the film took home two awards out of four nominations. It won in the Best Action Film and Best International Film categories. In the former, it overcame films like The Batman, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Top Gun: Maverick, in the latter category it emerged victorious against All Quiet on the Western Front and Decision to Leave. For its song 'Naatu Naatu' this&nbsp;Jr NTR and Ram Charan starrer&nbsp;is nominated for an Oscar. The same song won a Golden Globe.</p>

RRR beats Top Gun Maverick and The Batman to take Best Action Film trophy at HCA Film Awards 2023

<p>A year ago, country star Brad Paisley watched the news on television as Russian troops invaded Ukraine and, like many people around the world, he felt helpless at the images of people fleeing their homes.</p>

<p>“The world felt like it was in a new place that it hadn’t been in decades,” the three-time Grammy winner recalls.</p>

<p>On Friday, the one-year anniversary of the war’s start, Paisley is releasing a new song called 'Same Here,' featuring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy speaking proudly about his country and people.</p>

<p>The song is Paisley’s first from his new record, <em>Son of the Mountains</em>, to be released later this year on Universal Music Group Nashville.</p>

<p>The West Virginia native wrote the song with Lee Thomas Miller (co-writer on Paisley hits 'The World' and 'Perfect Storm') and Dawes frontman Taylor Goldsmith. It’s a three-part narrative that reflects on universal similarities, despite distance and language.</p>

<p>While it doesn’t mention Ukraine specifically, the song ends with Paisley and Zelenskyy in conversation, recorded during a video call. Zelenskyy talks about Ukrainians’ desire for freedom, adding “There is no distance between our two countries in such values.”</p>

<p>“There’s just no differences,” Paisley told The Associated Press. “You can put us in different places with different flags and different languages, but we have so many similarities.”</p>

<p>Paisley is one of several celebrity ambassadors for Ukraine’s United24 crowdfunding effort, and has donated his time to other fundraising efforts to assist Ukrainians. But even he thought it would be a long shot to have the direct involvement of Zelenskyy, who has traveled the world advocating for Ukraine’s military and recovery efforts.</p>

<p>“I think he understands that art is how you reach the most people, especially in the heart,” Paisley said of Zelenskyy, who was an actor and comedian before becoming president.</p>

<p>“He can give as many speeches as he can give, but it’s a lot easier to hear something with a melody maybe.”</p>

<p>Zelenskyy didn’t just sign off on the song; he also suggested some changes to it, Paisley said.</p>

<p>Paisley’s royalties for the song will be donated to United24 to help build housing for thousands of displaced Ukrainians whose homes were destroyed in the war, he said. Using his platform to advocate for causes important to him has always been part of his career, whether it was opening a free grocery store in Nashville with his wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, or fighting hunger by donating 1 million meals during the pandemic.</p>

<p>“I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night if I didn’t sort of swing for the fence with things like this,” Paisley said. “For me, I’m happiest dealing with stuff as a songwriter that’s very true and very, very passionate. And sometimes I don’t know if you’d call it risky, but it’s more like it’s bigger than me.”</p>

<p>Paisley brings his passion on stage during live shows. He’s been changing the lyrics to his hit song 'American Saturday Night,' for instance, to replace a reference to the USSR. to “There’s a Ukrainian flag hanging up behind the bar.”</p>

<p>The new record will be his debut on UMG since moving from Sony’s Arista label, and he said 'Same Here' reflects the kinds of big universal themes on it.</p>

<p>“We do deal with stuff going on in the world,” Paisley said. “How do you sing about things that are truly big — a big deal right now — that also don’t feel like maybe they’re the type of thing that you would be singing about typically? And yeah, on this album I have kind of really dug deep and tried to say something.”</p>

<p>Paisley, who has visited US&nbsp;troops in Afghanistan, said he’s been invited to visit Ukraine, which he’d like to do. In the meantime, he hopes the song’s message will bolster the country now facing down year two of the war.</p>

<p>“That’s where it gets really rewarding... feeling like maybe the heart of this helps paint the picture they want to paint,” Paisley&nbsp;said.</p>

Country singer Brad Paisley releases new song featuring Volodymyr Zelenskyy

<p>The reviews of sports drama Creed 3, stylised as Creed III, have started to trickle in. Thus far, the third movie in the Creed series, which is itself a spinoff series of Rocky franchise, has received highly positive reviews. It holds a score of 89 per cent on the review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes. The critical consensus reads, "Stepping out from Rocky Balboa's iconic shadow at last, the Creed franchise reasserts its champion status thanks to star Michael B. Jordan's punchy direction and a nuanced heel turn by Jonathan Majors." Jordan makes his directorial debut with this film. Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin have penned the script.</p>

I know what it was like to be a teenager who hated my body so much I wanted to crawl out of my skin, so I have great compassion for trans people, and I don’t want to add to their pain.”</p>

<p>A federal judge on Thursday rejected a call from prosecutors to keep R. Kelly behind bars until he is 100, instead telling the Grammy Award-winning R&amp;B singer he would serve all but one of his 20 years on child sex convictions simultaneously with a previous sentence.</p>

<p>Handed down in a courtroom in Kelly’s hometown of Chicago, the sentence means Kelly could make it out of prison alive, when he is about 80. Prosecutors had asked Judge Harry Leinenweber to sentence him to 25 years — and to not let him begin serving those until after he completed the first 30-year sentence, imposed on him last year in New York for federal racketeering and sex trafficking convictions.</p>

<p>“The nature of this offense is … horrific,” Leinenweber said in explaining the 20-year sentence. He noted that Kelly’s sexual abuse victims would suffer from his crimes for the rest of their lives.</p>

<p>At the same time, he accepted defence arguments that Kelly might not even make it to 80, so handing him a consecutive lengthy sentence, rather than allowing him to serve all but one year of it simultaneously, didn’t make much sense.</p>

<p>“He has a life expectancy of not a hell of a lot more,” the judge said. “He is 56 years of age.”</p>

<p>Kelly’s defence lawyer celebrated the ruling as a victory, and some of the singer’s fans could be heard cheering outside the courtroom.</p>

<p>Kelly remained still, his eyes downcast, as Leinenweber explained what was at times a hard-to-follow sentence. He did seem to show some emotion when a representative read a statement written by “Jane,” one of his accusers and a key prosecution witness.</p>

<p>“I was brainwashed by Robert and a sex slave,” Jane’s statement said. “It almost killed me.”</p>

<p>Kelly did not make a statement in court prior to the sentencing decision, heeding the advice of his lawyer, Jennifer Bonjean, to stay quiet while they appeal both his Chicago and New York convictions.</p>

<p>“It’s the right outcome,” Bonjean said of the sentence after the hearing ended. “The judge was reasonable. He, I think, took into account both sides and ultimately was fair.”</p>

<p>The US&nbsp;Attorney in Chicago, John Lausch, conceded that prosecutors were disappointed Kelly didn’t receive more consecutive prison time. But he added, “Twenty years is a significant sentence, and we are happy that that was imposed in this case.”</p>

<p>The judge said at the outset of Thursday’s hearing that he did not accept the government’s contention that Kelly used fear to woo underage girls for sex, a determination that was important in deciding whether to extend Kelly’s current term significantly.</p>

<p>“The (government’s) whole theory of grooming, was sort of the opposite of fear of bodily harm,” the judge told the court. “It was the fear of lost love, lost affections (from Kelly)’. … It just doesn’t seem to me that it rises to the fear of bodily harm.”</p>

<p>Two of Kelly’s accusers asked the judge Thursday to punish him harshly.</p>

<p>“When your virginity is taken by a pedophile at 14 … your life is never your own,” Jane’s statement read.</p>

<p>Another accuser, who used the pseudonym “Nia,” addressed Kelly directly in court. Speaking forcefully as her voice quivered, Nia said Kelly would repeatedly point out her alleged faults while he abused her.</p>

<p>“Now you are here … because there is something wrong with you,” she said. “No longer will you be able to harm children.”</p>

<p>Jurors in Chicago convicted Kelly last year on six of 13 counts: three of producing child porn and three of enticement of minors for sex. Prosecutors did not get a conviction on the marquee charge: that Kelly and his then-business manager successfully rigged his state child pornography trial in 2008.</p>

<p>Kelly rose from poverty in Chicago to become one of the world’s biggest R&amp;B stars. Known for his smash hit “I Believe I Can Fly” and for sex-infused songs such as 'Bump n’ Grind,' he sold millions of albums even after allegations about his abuse of girls began circulating publicly in the 1990s.</p>

<p>Prosecutors had previously described Kelly as “a serial sexual predator” who used his fame and wealth to reel in, sexually abuse and then discard star-struck fans.</p>

<p>At Thursday’s hearing, US&nbsp;Assistant Attorney Jeannice Appenteng urged the judge to keep Kelly in prison “for the rest of his life.”</p>

<p>Kelly’s abuse of children was especially appalling, she said, because he “memorialised” his abuse by filming victims, including Jane. Appenteng told the court Kelly “used Jane as a sex prop, a thing” for producing pornographic videos.</p>

<p>Bonjean has said repeatedly that the government singled out her client because he is a superstar and she previously accused prosecutors of offering an “embellished narrative” to get the judge to join what she called the government’s “bloodthirsty campaign to make Kelly a symbol of the #MeToo movement.”</p>

<p>She echoed that theme Thursday in calling the request for a 25-year consecutive sentence “overkill.”</p>

<p>The singer has suffered enough, including financially, Bonjean said. She said his worth once approached $1 billion, but that he “is now destitute.”</p>

<p>Just before Kelly was taken back to detention Thursday, Bonjean requested that he not be placed on suicide watch because constant checks by guards “is in and of itself cruel” and “creates mental health issues.”</p>

<p>“He was expecting this,” she told the judge. “Mr. Kelly … is not suicidal.”</p>

<p>Actor-producer Alec Baldwin has pleaded not guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in 2021 on the New Mexico set of <em>Rust </em>movie. On Thursday, District Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer established conditions for his release, which permit Baldwin to interact with potential witnesses only to the extent necessary for the completion of <em>Rust </em>filming. Baldwin and armourer and weapons supervisor Hannah Gutierrez-Reed were charged in January. In the October 21, 2021 incident, a bullet was fired by Baldwin on the Bonanza City, New Mexico set of the movie and hit Hutchins and writer-director Joel Souza. <p>The tragic incident has ignited a debate over the handling of firearms on movie or TV show sets, the resulting dangers, and how to minimise them. There have been proposals by organisations involved in the film business to make sure such tragedies never happen in the future. Some have called for stricter regulations, while others have suggested banning live firearms on sets altogether.</p>

<p>Following the incident, the filming of the movie&nbsp;was suspended. It will now resume this year. Souza will return, while Bianca Cline will assume the cinematography duties. The film, which is a western, stars Baldwin, Travis Fimmel, Brady Noon, Frances Fisher, and Jensen Ackles.</p>

Then James Gunn, the new co-CEO of DC Studios, the entity that succeeds the now-defunct DC Films, gave his vote of confidence earlier this year when he announced the first chapter of DCU's 10-year slate of movies, TV shows, animation, and gaming.</p>
