We believe that the said terrorist was to carry out the attacks but by killing him we have managed to thwart any such attempt. We recovered an AK 74 rifle and magazine from his possession,” said SSP Shopian, Tanu Shree.&nbsp;

''After receiving multiple inputs regarding an individual, Bilal Ahmed Dar hailing from Cheerkote area of Kupwara district, a joint operation was launched by the Army and Kupwara police to nab him from the&nbsp;Nutnussa and Lolab localities of Kupwara. After thorough interrogation, the individual revealed that he&nbsp;was running a terror funding racket with five other people from different parts of North Kashmir under the garb of a fake NGO called Islahi Falahi Relief Trust&nbsp;(IFRT)&nbsp;which claimed to provide monetary assistance to poor and needy families,'' said Kupwara SSP Yougal Manhas.&nbsp;

The police said that these individuals were actively involved in coordinating the funding for terror activities and aiding recruitment by organizing 'Ijtema' meetings in different villages where Bilal along with other members of the NGO would try and lure young people into anti-national activities. According to police, Bilal had revealed names of five other accomplices.&nbsp;

The group was also actively collecting explosive materials which are known to be used in IEDs,'' the SSP&nbsp;Kupwara said.&nbsp;

Police said that a huge quantity of arms, ammunition, raw material to prepare IEDs and incriminating material has also been recovered from all the apprehended individuals. This includes five pistols, 10 magazines, 49 pistol ammunition, two grenades and one IED.

Jammu and Kashmir's police said that the terrorist fired upon two non-local labourers, one from Bihar and the other one from Nepal. The labourers were working at a private SAPS school in the Bondialgam area of Anantnag district.&nbsp;

"At about 1900hrs, police received information about a terror incident at Wanihama area of Anantnag. Senior police officers reached the spot. Preliminary investigations revealed that terrorist had fired upon two outside labourers, working at a private School (SAPS) at Wanihama area of Anantnag," said Vijay Kumar, the ADGP Police.&nbsp;

"They have been identified as Bekuu Ram, a resident of Bihar, &amp; Tej Bahadur, a resident of Nepal. In this terror incident, both the labourers received gunshot injuries and were immediately shifted to hospital for treatment," Kumar added.&nbsp;

According to Jammu and Kashmir police, both the victims were called by terrorists to come out for some work and the moment they came out, terrorists fired upon them with a pistol. &nbsp;

ADGP Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar&nbsp;said, "This cowardice and inhumane act of terrorism is being investigated on top priority and the terrorists involved in this terror crime would be brought to justice soon. Area has been cordoned and search in the area is going on."&nbsp;

Meanwhile, J&amp;K Police in Pulwama along with Army (44RR) and CRPF (183Bn) at a checkpoint established at Khamri Chowk area of Pulwama have arrested a terrorist associate of proscribed terror outfit LeT.&nbsp;

He has been identified as Zubair Ahmad Dar, son of Ali Mohd Dar, resident of Arigam Pulwama. Police said that incriminating materials and a hand grenade were recovered from his possession.&nbsp;

The government has also announced special festivals for the tourists coming to the Valley during the&nbsp;autumn&nbsp;season.&nbsp;

Four terrorists were killed in two different operations in south Kashmir today. Two operations in south Kashmir’s Anantnag and Awantipora districts were carried out by security forces leading to the killing of four terrorists. The Jammu and Kashmir Police also arrested three hybrid terrorists of the proscribed terror outfit LeT/TRF in Srinagar and recovered explosive materials on their disclosure.&nbsp;

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Semthan Bijbehara area of Anantnag following input regarding the presence of terrorists in the area. &nbsp;Jammu and Kashmir Police said that As the search party proceeded towards the suspected spot the hiding terrorist fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated effectively by the joint party leading to an encounter.

As per Police records the killed terrorist was linked with proscribed terror outfit HM and was involved in several terror crime cases including attacks on Police/SFs and civilian atrocities, “ said ADGP Vijay Kumar.&nbsp;

There was one more story encounter in the Khandipora area of Awantipora in which three terrorists were killed during the operation.&nbsp;

“In the ensuing encounter, 03 terrorists were killed. Among the killed terrorists, 01 is a foreign terrorist and another one is a LeT terrorist commander identified as Mukhtar Bhat while the identification of the third killed terrorist is being ascertained. As per police records, all the killed terrorists were involved in several terror crimes including killing of 01 ASI of CRPF &amp; 2 RPF personnel. As per the source, Mukhtar Bhat along with FT was going for a fidayeen attack on the security force camp,” said ADGP Vijay Kumar.&nbsp;

Police also recovered Incriminating materials, arms, and ammunition including 01 AK-47 rifles, 01 AK-56 rifles &amp; 01 pistols from the operation site.&nbsp;

According to the police “During questioning, they disclosed the name of another associate namely Aqib Jamal Bhat son of Mohd Jamal Bhat resident of Sozaith Budgam. In a swift action, he was also arrested. On his disclosure, an IED of approximately 10 kg was recovered in the Rangreth area by a joint team of Srinagar Police and Army (62RR) which was later destroyed by the Bomb Disposal squad. All three arrested hybrid terrorists are linked with LeT/TRF,” said ADGP Vijay Kumar.&nbsp;

Thousands of families are associated with saffron farming in the Kashmir region. They&nbsp;are busy plucking the saffron flowers from the fields.

"As compared to last year, the production this year is twice of what it was the previous year. Adequate rain at the proper time helped&nbsp;and that's why we had the best production. This is much better than the previous year. The GI tag is good for us, and will benefit us. It makes sure the purest Kashmiri saffron is sold in the market,'' said Farhad, a saffron farmer.&nbsp;

The tourists visiting the valley are stopping at the saffron farms to see how it is grown. A lot of tourists are buying saffron from the farms as well.

There is so much to be picked as well. This whole place is dependent on saffron as we grow most of the saffron from the Kashmir region," said Nasir Hamid, another saffron farmer.&nbsp;

"GI tagging is beneficial for us, but we have seen a lot of non-Kashmiri products being sold across India on Kashmir name and that needs to be stopped. Although GI tagging has not reached ground level farmers. The tourists visit our farms, and they see with their own eyes how we grow saffron. This also makes sure they believe the authenticity of the saffron from here. The world's best saffron is grown in the Kashmir valley and demand for it has been good," he added.&nbsp;

The tourists are appreciative of the farmers growing saffron in the valley. It is a unique experience for them to see the saffron farms.

''It is a unique experience, we come from Pune&nbsp;and don't get to see all this. Saffron is expensive and seeing its farming was a great experience. Kashmiri saffron is the best and is known all over the world. It provides great fragrance and taste to dishes," said Vikrant, a tourist.&nbsp;

Jammu and Kashmir Police has said that 40 foreign terrorists have been killed in the Kashmir region in 2022 so far. Most of these terrorists belonged to either Lashkar-e-Taiba or Jaish-e-Mohammad terror outfits. The director-general of Jammu and Kashmir Police said that most of the leadership of these terror outfits has been wiped out.

He also said that there has been an evident drop in the terror outfit recruitments in the Kashmir Valley. And there is a leadership crisis among these terror groups in the Valley.&nbsp;

"We have managed to destroy the structure of these terror outfits. Pakistan always wants foreign terrorists to hold command of outfits like Lashkar and Jaish. But we have had successful operations this year in which around 40 foreign Pakistani terrorists have been neutralised in various operations. Pakistan is still trying to infiltrate more terrorists into the region and some of these attempts have been successful and we are keeping an eye on that too and soon they will be dismantled too," said J&amp;K DGP Dilbagh Singh.

The DGP also said that since the winter is approaching, there would be more attempts by Pakistan to send across foreign terrorists into the Kashmir Valley.&nbsp;

"The terrorists from across the border will try to infiltrate before the winter and snowfall. But the counter-infiltration grid has been made stronger and no such attempt would be successful," said the DGP.&nbsp;

According to Jammu and Kashmir Police, terror recruitment in the Valley has come down. Police say that they have managed to kill most of the top commanders of the terror outfits and it&nbsp;has led to the terror recruitment&nbsp;taking&nbsp;a hit.&nbsp;

"The youngsters of the valley are preferring to make their careers in various fields. Stone pelting has completely stopped and local terror recruitment too has dropped to almost zero," said Singh.&nbsp;

One of the major concerns for the security forces in the valley are Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). The police are working on a strategy.

"IEDs are low cost for terrorists and are in fact part of a new strategy aimed at inflicting maximum damage to forces and less to militants. Consignments airdropped through drones were seized in Jammu," said DGP.&nbsp;
