Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) national convener and former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday (Jan 13) hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by accusing it of betraying Jats of the national capital over the issue of reservation.
A report by the news agency PTI said that Kejriwal met a delegation of Jat leaders at his residence.
In a post on X, Kejriwal said that the delegation expressed anger over being betrayed by the BJP on the issue of reservation for the last decade and the injustice done to them.&nbsp;

An earthquake of 6.8 magnitude struck Japan's southwestern region late on Monday (Jan 13), prompting authorities to issue a tsunami advisory.&nbsp;
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) issued a tsunami advisory for waves up to one metre following the earthquake off the Miyazaki prefecture in the Kyushu region at around 9.19 pm local time.
The agency said, "Tsunami can strike repeatedly. Please do not enter the sea or go near coastal areas."
<h2>Earthquake estimate revised</h2>
Earlier, the US Geological Survey (USGS) revised its earthquake estimate down from 6.9 magnitude, saying that there was no tsunami threat from this quake.&nbsp;

Days after United States (US) President-elect Donald Trump expressed readiness to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin said on Monday (Jan 13) that though there were no preparations underway (for the meeting), there was understanding and political will for one.
Addressing a press conference, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, "Many countries offer their services as venues where hypothetical contacts (between Putin and Trump) can be held, but it is premature to talk about this yet..."

Celebrations began for the Maha Kumbh on Monday (Jan 13), but an unfortunate incident occurred a day before the major Hindu event. Stones&nbsp;were thrown at a train carrying passengers for the pilgrimage.&nbsp;
A report by the news agency PTI said that the Tapti Ganga Express was travelling from Surat to Chhapra on Sunday when stones were thrown at the train near the Jalgaon Railway Station in Maharashtra.

LA wildfires update: International crews arrive to battle blaze; death toll at 16

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday (Jan 9) accused the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi of aiding Rohingyas by adding them to the voters list of Delhi and attempting to change the demography of the city.
Speaking to the news agency ANI, BJP leader Kapil Mishra said, "We have released a video, in which, a Rohingya infiltrator is himself saying that $116 (Rs 10,000) ration, Jal Board water and electricity, everything is being provided by the people of Amanatullah Khan (AAP MLA)."

Hours after Mishra's remarks, senior BJP leader and former Union minister Smriti Irani accused the AAP of staying silent on such issues (in this case infiltration) related to national security.
"Who are those infiltrators who want to weaken the democratic structure of our country by making fake voter cards? Why are Aam Aadmi Party MLAs not coordinating with the investigating agencies? Aam Aadmi Party is standing in support of Bangladeshi infiltrators," Irani said during a press conference.
"Two AAP MLAs&mdash;Mohinder Goyal and Jai Bhagwan Upkar&mdash;have been involved in the conspiracy to make fake Aadhar cards for Bangladeshi infiltrators," she added.
The Delhi Police had issued notices to Mohinder Goyal and his staff in connection with the discovery of fake documents during a recent crackdown on illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.&nbsp;

United States (US) President-elect Donald Trump on Sunday (Jan 12) called politicians in California "incompetent'' over their response to controlling the ravaging wildfires in Los Angeles (LA).&nbsp;
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote, "The fires are still raging in LA. The incompetent pols (politicians) have no idea how to put them out. Thousands of magnificent houses are gone, and many more will soon be lost."

<h2>Death toll in wildfires climbs to 16</h2>
Trump's remarks came as the death toll due to the wildfires climbed to 16 as crews battled to cut off the spreading blazes before potentially strong winds returned that could push the flames towards some of the city&rsquo;s most famous landmarks.
Five of the deaths were attributed to the Palisades Fire and 11 resulted from the Eaton Fire, the Los Angeles County coroner&rsquo;s office said in a statement Saturday evening.
