Dutch politician Geert Wilders said on Wednesday he was ready to forego the job of prime minister in an effort to facilitate the formation of a new right-wing government, nearly four months after an election in which his party won most votes.

Wilders has been in talks with potential allies since the&nbsp;Nov. 22 election&nbsp;-- more than 100 days -- but they have borne no fruit. A negotiator appointed to assist in the process is due to report to parliament on his findings on Thursday.

"I can only become the prime minister if ALL the parties in the coalition supported it. That was not the case," Wilders said in a statement on social media platform X.

"I really want a right ( wing ) cabinet. Less asylum and immigration... Love for my country and the voters is big and more important than my own position."

Dutch national broadcaster NOS had earlier reported that Wilders was prepared to give up his hopes of becoming prime minister as he struggles to form a viable government.

Citing political sources in The Hague, NOS said Wilders' Freedom Party and three other conservative parties attempting to form a right-wing coalition were weighing a scenario in which the party leaders would remain in parliament and not join the new government.

In that scenario, known as an "extra-parliamentary" cabinet, politicians and experts not considered closely allied to any of the parties would be appointed to top government posts and work closely with parliament.

Labour has indicated support for the change, which comes amidst cross-party pressure on the government to address the issue.&nbsp;

The move comes as RedBird IMI continues its efforts to take control of the Daily and Sunday Telegraph newspaper titles and Spectator magazine. The fund, largely owned by Sheikh Mansour of the UAE, faced growing political opposition.

Reacting to the government's decision, a spokesperson for RedBird IMI said they were "extremely disappointed by today's development" and stated they "remain committed" to investing in global media.

"We are now facing a population fighting for their own survival," he said, adding, "[The humanitarian crisis is] man-made, and when we look for alternative ways of providing support by sea, by air, we have to remind [ourselves] that we have to do it because the natural way of providing support through roads is being … artificially closed."

"Starvation is being used as a war arm, and when we condemned this happening in Ukraine, we have to use the same words for what is happening in Gaza," he alleged.

Reuters, which has been privy to the UNIFIL report, further quotes it as saying: "It is assessed that there was no exchange of fire across the Blue Line at the time of the incident. The reason for the strikes on the journalists is not known."

The tank rounds which killed Issam Abdallah also injured six other journalists present at the scene.

Responding to questions about the UNIFIL report, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Nir Dinar said that the IDF had retaliated against an attack by Hezbollah near Hanita on Oct 13.&nbsp;

"The IDF deplores any injury to uninvolved parties, and does not deliberately shoot at civilians, including journalists," Dinar emphasised.&nbsp;

"[This is] the first regulation in the world that is putting a clear path towards a safe and human-centric development of AI," he said.&nbsp;

Benifei noted that the move by the Parliament will help in banning unacceptable AI practices in Europe and protect the rights of workers and citizens will be protected.&nbsp;

He added that the AI Office will now be set up to support companies to start complying with the rules before they enter into force.&nbsp;

"We ensured that human beings and European values are at the very centre of AI's development," Benifei added.&nbsp;
