A major escalation in the Iran conflict unfolded in the Indian Ocean after a U.S. submarine torpedoed the Iranian Navy frigate IRIS Dena near Sri Lanka. The attack reportedly killed at least 87 sailors, while dozens remain missing.
Sri Lankan authorities launched an urgent rescue operation after the vessel issued a distress call, while the Indian Navy also initiated search and rescue efforts in coordination with regional partners. The warship had about 180 crew members on board and had recently participated in a multinational naval exercise before the attack
