U.S. President Donald Trump has warned Iran against planting naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes. Trump said any attempt to disrupt oil flows through the waterway would trigger severe consequences from the United States.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical energy chokepoints, with nearly 20% of global oil shipments passing through the narrow corridor connecting the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Sea.
