America’s Record-long Government Shutdown of 41 Days May Finally Be Inching Towards an End. Democrats in the Senate, at Least Eight of Them, Have Now Crossed the Aisle. And They’ve Joined Republicans to Push Through a Compromise Funding Bill. This Deal, if Passed by the House, Will Reopen the Government Through January, Restore Full-year Funding to Some Key Programs and Crucially, Bring Back Pay to More Than a Million Federal Employees, Who Have Been Unpaid Since October 1.
