The UN has released its “Trends in Maternal Mortality 2000–2023” report, revealing deeply concerning data on maternal deaths worldwide. Nigeria tops the list, while India recorded an average of 52 maternal deaths daily. Countries like DR Congo and Pakistan also reported high figures. The report sheds light on urgent gaps in healthcare access and highlights the need for stronger maternal care systems globally.
