Russia launched a major aerial assault on Ukraine, firing an estimated 50 missiles and around 297 drones in one of the largest overnight attacks as the war’s anniversary approaches. Ukrainian air defences intercepted the majority, but strikes still hit energy infrastructure, residential areas and transport links across multiple regions, killing and injuring civilians and underscoring the ongoing intensity of the conflict.
