Controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, banned in Bangladesh since the 2016 Dhaka café attack, is set to make a return tour in late 2025 under the country’s new interim government led by Muhammad Yunus.
The move marks a major policy reversal, drawing sharp criticism from India, where Naik is wanted on charges of terror funding, hate speech, and money laundering. Supporters call it a step toward “religious openness,” while critics warn it could reignite regional tensions.
