Nikhil Gupta, an Indian national, pleaded guilty in a Manhattan federal court to conspiring with an Indian government official to assassinate U.S.-based Sikh separatist leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. Gupta admitted to charges of murder-for-hire and money laundering, facing a maximum of 40 years in prison.
