Kerala CM Satheesan writes to PM Modi, seeks review of mines amendment bill

Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan has written to PM Modi, urging an urgent review of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, warning it could undermine states' constitutional and fiscal powers. He specifically flagged Section 9D, which would make states' power to tax mineral-bearing land subject to Central Government criteria.
