Jodie Foster the Python makes history with human cancer treatment
A 15-foot python named Jodie Foster has made veterinary history after receiving electrochemotherapy, a cancer treatment commonly used in humans. The 23-year-old reticulated python at Chester Zoo had a recurring fibrosarcoma in her jaw that threatened her ability to eat. Vets removed the tumour and part of her damaged jawbone before using electrochemotherapy to target remaining cancer cells. Months later, Jodie is eating normally and shows no signs of the cancer returning.
