Israel says it has shot down an Iranian fighter aircraft over Tehran amid the escalating war between the two countries.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, an Israeli Air Force F-35I “Adir” stealth fighter downed an Iranian Yakovlev Yak‑130 jet in air-to-air combat above the Iranian capital.
Israeli officials said the incident marks the first time an F-35 fighter has shot down a manned aircraft in combat. The Yak-130 is a Russian-designed jet used primarily for training and light combat missions.
